The twenty-two-year-old Mason stuffed his hand in his pockets nonchalantly and nodded.
Then, he saw the period diaper the cashier was talking about and frowned involuntarily, “Why does it look the same as a baby diaper?”
The other cashier kept promoting the stuff to him. “It’ll keep her bed clean, no matter how she rolls in her sleep. She’s gonna want to use it
again in the future. Guaranteed!”
Then, he pondered for a while. Perhaps the cashier was right. It could be a good choice for the crybaby waiting for him outside. However, he kept his cool, distant demeanor and didn’t keep the conversation
going.
The cashiers gathered around and started talking about him after he walked out of the store. “Wow, what a stunner! Judging from his demeanor, he has to come from a wealthy family. I think I saw his watch in one of the television advertisements. It’s worth about two
million dollars.”
Zoe was still sitting at the back when he walked out of the store. Tossing the paper bag to her, he said, “Change it in a public restroom! Then, I’m sending you back home! You probably should give a call to your stepmother…”
He paused a little before warning her again. “I’m going to leave you here by yourself if you tell them about what happened in my
bathroom.”
She retorted pitifully, “My big brother’s going to kill you if you abandon
me.”
Sneering, he said, “Are you talking about Noah? He’s a good-for-
nothing.” He was the same age as Noah. Both of them came from wealthy families and were very capable. They had been rivals for a long time.
His brows furrowed when he brought up Noah. He simply couldn’t
stand him.
Sniffing, she frowned at him and said, “My brother’s not a good-for- nothing.”
Stuffing his hands in his pocket, he looked at the heavens and said, “I guess time will prove it.”
Then, she got mad at him for dissing her big brother and proceeded to ignore him. Taking out her phone, she gave Mia a call…
Needless to say, she spun a little lie and told her that their chauffeur had gone back home, which surprised Mia greatly. However, she calmed down once she heard that someone from the Lockwood family would send her back home.
Mia told Zoe to be careful and stay safe before hanging up.
After that, Mason found a public restroom. Zoe tore the packaging, picked one of her favorite patterns, and proceeded to change her sanitary pad.
He was standing right outside when she came out of the public restroom. He looked cold and distant when he said casually, “The cashier said that the period diapers were insanely popular. You should check them out when you have the time.”
With that, he patted the back of the seat, gesturing for her to hop on.
Her face turned red as she got onto the bicycle obediently. It was cold in the night, so she wrapped her arms around his waist, taking in the warmth from him.
Then, they arrived at Kirk Manor and he helped her off the bike.
The eighteen-year-old Zoe was wearing his sportswear as her long black hair cascaded at her back. The gentle moonlight only served to accentuate her otherworldly beauty.
It was a shame that she was so timid and clingy!
He threatened her and said, “Don’t even think about falling in love with me, you idiot!”
Zoe jolted awake. Looking out the window, the sun had just risen moments ago.
Rolling over, she rested her cheeks on the pillow and admired the gentle rays out the window. All of her confusion and sorrows from the night before wafted into thin air.
She needed to look after Mason. She was sure of it. Not only did she need to repay him, but she genuinely wanted to be with him.
She thought back to the dream she just had. Mason hadn’t changed one bit. He clearly wanted her to love him, but he still warned her to do the exact opposite! That was his character. He was never honest with himself. After all, he was too proud to admit it.
Lying on the bed, she pondered on her relationship with him for a long
time.
Now, the sun had risen well above the horizon.
Taking her phone, she started sending him WhatsApp texts calmly.
“I thought long and hard about it, Mason. You made an excellent point. A lot of stuff had happened between us in the past, but most of
them were bad memories.
“On top of that, we’ve been separated for a total of five years, give or take. That’s a long time and anything could’ve changed within that kind of time frame!
“I’ll live a happy life with our kids. Furthermore, I’ll put my heart and soul into my relationship with David. I guess it’s really over between us this time, Mason.
“The next time we see each other, we’ll just be friends.”
After that, she rose, freshened up, and took a shower. By the time she checked her phone again, there was only a single text from him.
“Okay.”
