Chapter 488
As Lila’s car drove out of the parking lot, Zoe turned around to look for her car. That was when a black limousine flashed its light at her.
Squirting, she saw Mason sitting in the backseat.
Luke got out of the car and jogged lightly towards her. “Mr. Mason has been waiting for you for a long time, Ms. Zoe. He’s waiting for you to have dinner at his place! Yanni and Jamie are there too.”
She was quite speechless at Mason’s action.
This was childish of him.
Then, she asked Luke, “What about my car? I parked it here.”
Scratching his head, Luke said sheepishly, “Your car was already driven away and parked in the manor!”
It didn’t seem like she had much choice.
Flat out of options, she walked towards the black limousine, opened the door, and got into it. Mason was sitting in the car calmly. He merely nodded gently at her and ordered Luke, “Take us home!”
Luke stepped on the gas pedal and the car drove out of the parking lot and cruised on the road. It was quiet in the car. Zoe leaned back in her seat and didn’t say a word. The truth was, she was quite downhearted over what happened to Gwynn and Maddox.
Mason broke the silence and asked, “Did you have fun in Nihonburg?”
Initially, she wanted to make some sharp remarks, but she simply didn’t have the energy or will to do it. So, she merely responded, ” Yeah.”

Leaning over, he looked at her, only to see glints of tears in her eyes.
He instinctively lowered his voice and asked gently, “What’s the matter? Why are you tearing up all of a sudden?”
She didn’t want to tell him anything. Instead, she pressed her cheeks against the leather seat and murmured, “I need some time to myself, Mason.”
So, he let her be.
He even pressed the button and raised the partition. Then, he didn’t say anything and merely held her hand gently.
At first, she was startled and wanted to shake him off, but she noticed something strange almost immediately.
Mason was holding her hand with his right hand.
Did that mean he could move his right hand now?
She stared at him quietly in the cramped, dark space with tears in her eyes. She didn’t say anything, and neither did he. The only thing he did was cup her hand in his.
The car cruised along the road for an hour and that was how long he kept holding onto her hand.
This little moment of intimacy was interrupted as soon as the black limousine pulled into the manor. Westley was here. So, he raced to the car and opened its door, only to find both of them holding hands.
An awkward silence hung over all three of them.
Westley was embarrassed beyond words. He wasn’t sure what he should’ve said at that moment.
Withdrawing her hand, she cleared her throat before she said, “I ran into Aunt Lila at the airport!”

Aunt Lila…
Could she have meant Lila Gernon?
Westley felt a little uneasy at the mention of her name, but he quickly composed himself and pushed it down. He took the wheelchair over and helped Mason into it.
At that moment, Yanni darted out and shouted warmly, “Mom!” Then, she leaped into her arms. It had only been several days, but she had missed her mom dearly.
Patting her little girl’s head, Zoe crouched and kissed her.
However, Yanni was much more intelligent than her age suggested. Taking Westley’s hand, she led her grandpa into the manor and left her parents alone.
Things still felt a little awkward between them.
Zoe was about to close the door, but Mason beat her to it and closed it with his right hand. Staring at him, her voice trembled when she said, “Mason!”
He stared right back at her and said softly, “I was going to give you a surprise! But you look so sad that I think I should just cut straight to the point.”
With that, he stood up slowly and pulled her into his arms.
