Chapter 490
Mason’s eyes grew darker. He no longer forced her to stay in his embrace, but he couldn’t resist pulling her closer and holding her tighter. He wanted her to be coated with his scent.
In the end, he soothed her softly, “Can I start over and win your heart again, Zoe? I’ll keep trying until you’re willing to come back to me and be my wife.”
In fact, Westley, both of his kids and the servants had already found out about Mason’s full recovery.
So, they weren’t surprised by it, but they were grateful about it
nonetheless.
Today’s lunch was particularly luscious and meaningful. After that, Westley made up an excuse and left. Zoe watched as he left, lost in his own thoughts.
Then, she headed to the kitchen to take a bottle of mineral water, but someone beat her to it. A hand reached into the fridge and took the bottle out for her.
Raising her eyes, she saw that it was Mason. He, too, seemed to be thinking about something. He asked her, “What’s on your mind?”
Having no interest in talking about anything deep with him, she shook her head lightly, “Nothing!” With that she was about to leave.
The next thing she knew, he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. There were a lot of people going in and out of the kitchen, so he didn’t act rashly. He merely looked into her eyes and said softly, “Are we not at a point where we can talk about our feelings?”

“How about we talk about something in the bedroom?” He looked straight into her eyes and said this sensually.
She knew he said it on purpose, but she couldn’t help but blush. Swiping the bottle of water from him, she opened it and took a sip before she said, “Have Deborah pack up the kids’ suitcase. I’m taking them home now.”
Frowning, he said, “You’re leaving already? They’ve just been here for a few days.”
After all, he very much loved to spend some time with her as well as the kids. So, he couldn’t resist pleading with her, “New Year is only a few days away. Stay here and celebrate it with me, Zoe. I’ll bring Mia over so she can join us too.”
However, she turned down his offer.
Closing the bottle tight, she smiled dryly and said, “It wouldn’t be appropriate! If you miss the kids, you can come over and take them away for a few days or just visit them at my place.” She paused and looked at his legs for a while. “You can travel easier now, after all.”
He was about to say something when she shoved the bottle of water into his hands and said matter-of-factly, “It’s decided, then!”
He called out to her gently when she turned around, “Zoe!”
But, she proceeded to leave the kitchen.
Walking over to the
troom, she called over Deborah and Edith,
instructing them to pack up Yanni and Jamie’s suitcases.
The sitters were considerably close to her, so they couldn’t help but say, “Both of the kids are reluctant to leave their dad, Ms. Zoe!

At that moment, Yanni came over with Jamie while the dog trotted after them.
Looking at her mom with wide, innocent eyes, she said, “I want to bring Sherry into the guest room and play with it.”
Zoe doted on her kids. So, she crouched, patted Yanni’s head, and thought about it before she said, “Well, then. How about you and Jamie stay here for a few more days? I’ll pick you guys up on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve. I’ll swing by and pick you up so we can countdown to New Year together.”
Content with her mom’s answer, she led Jamie and the dog away with
a spring in her step.
Shaking her head slightly, Zoe picked up her coat and suitcase before she sat in her silver Rolls-Royce. She was about to start her car when her phone in the glove compartment rang. Picking it up, she saw that it was her servant in her villa.
She was told that Mia slipped and fell, breaking some bones in the process. She had sent her stepmother to the hospital.
Zoe asked a couple of questions to make sure Mia was okay before she hung up and stepped on the pedal, driving to the hospital.
