I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 500

Paloma nodded and said, “Understood, Ms. Zoe.” Then, she closed the study door and went downstairs to look after the kids.

Zoe tried to go back into her book, but she was feeling restless now that Mason was here.

Recently, he had been trying so hard to hit on her. He earnestly

wanted her to be his wife again because he loved her deeply. The fact was that she knew about it, but she no longer had the courage to love him again.

She was quite comfortable with the way things were now.

Yanni and Jamie kept playing with Mason and clung to him dearly in the living room. They were so happy when they received the envelopes from him. Yanni was particularly overjoyed because she knew it was from Grandma Lisa.

“When can we see Grandma Lisa, Dad?”

This was something Mason had to be thankful for. Zoe didn’t pass down any of her hatred to their kids. So, they were very innocent and

adorable!

With Jamie sitting on one of his knees, he pulled Yanni closer and said affectionately, “I’ll take you to Grandma Lisa very soon.”

Yanni proceeded to lean on her dad.

She was seven years old now. That meant she was starting to see through some of the convoluted matters that adults had to deal with. Holding on to his arms, she said in a cute voice, “When can Mommy and us move back home, Daddy?”

His heart softened at that.

Patting his little girl’s head, he said tenderly, “I’ll take you guys back home as soon as Mommy’s not angry with me anymore.”

Yanni’s face lit up at that. Then, she proceeded to play with Jamie.

At that moment, Paloma brought a cup of coffee to Mason and said apologetically, “Ms. Mia’s taking a nap and Ms. Zoe’s reading a book upstairs. I’m so sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Mason!”

However, he wasn’t mad about it. After all, a man was expected to put in some effort if he wanted to win a lady’s heart. This amount of patience was all but part of the process.

Furthermore, their little spat amused him.

It was four o’clock in the afternoon when he had to leave because he

had some urgent matters to take care of.

For the next couple of weeks, Zoe kept avoiding him. It didn’t make a difference that he kept visiting the kids frequently. He didn’t even catch a glance of her.

It got so bad that even Mia was starting to feel embarrassed and made up all sorts of excuses for Zoe, telling him that she was simply too busy recently.

He merely smiled lightly in response

It was the eighteenth of the month. David’s wedding ceremony was held at the Imperial Hotel.

Zoe went there earlier.

She wanted to catch up on old times with Aiden. He was her mentor and she was indebted to him. It had been so long since she last saw him and she missed him very much.

The waiter brought her to his table.

The last thing she had expected to see was Mason chatting away

“There’s Zoe! Come on, take a seat!” Aiden greeted her warmly, but she fell into a daze. Looking at Mason, who was smiling faintly, it felt as if the entire had evaporated and all that was left was his stare.

She had tried to avoid him for a long time, but they still ended up sitting together.

It was close to ten o’clock by the time he reached home.

To his surprise, there was a black limousine in his yard, exactly the kind of car his mother had always sat in. He looked at it for a brief moment before he walked into the living room.

As expected, Lisa was sitting in the dining hall.

There were sixteen dishes on the dining table, but none of them were eaten. Not even a bite. She was sitting by the dining table, spacing out while she stared at them. It was obvious that she had been here

for a long time.

She heard his footsteps and turned to look at the door.

Taking off his coat, he gave it to Layla, changed into a pair of indoor shoes, and said dryly, “What brings you here?”

She looked miserable.

Instead of answering his question, she asked him, “Did you go over to Zoe’s? How are things between the two of you now? Is she going to

forgive you?”

Sitting at the head of the table, he looked at his mother and stared at her profoundly.

Moments later, he barked an order to Layla, “Reheat the dishes!”

Lisa visibly relaxed and said through sobs, “Is this really happening? Are you willing to have dinner with me?”

The servants were going in and out of the dining hall as they carried out his order. He waited until all of them had gone away before he said. “It’s just dinner.”

He was treating her coldly, but she was exhilarated to hear it

In the end, however, Zoe still rejected him.

She said, “We’re not at the point where we could watch a movie together! Stop asking me out!”

He asked, “Well, then. What are we to each other now?”

Refusing to answer the question, she hung up on him. Only then did she realize her burning face and feel deeply embarrassed. After all, they had just done some unspeakable things in his car last night.

It was afternoon and the sun was shining brightly.

Leaning on the couch on the second floor, she read her book cozily while Yanni and Jamie played next to her.

About half an hour later, she heard the sound of a car pulling into her yard.

She didn’t pay it any mind.

Moments later, her servant, Paloma, knocked on the study door

before coming in. “Mr. Mason’s here, Ms. Zoe. He said he’s here to hang out with the kids. What should I do?”

Before Zoe could say anything, Yanni gasped and cried out happily,” Dad’s here!”

Not only did she race downstairs, but she also carried Jamie with her.

Paloma couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the sight.

Shaking her head helplessly, Zoe said, “Get down there and keep an eye on them. Stop them if they want to play outside. Yanni was coughing a little last night.”
