Chapter 499

Lila stared into his eyes.

She was beautiful, but in a different way from Lisa, who looked more elegant while she was more free-spirited. She asked him, “Are you worried about Mason or my sister?”

Westley didn’t manage to find his voice for a long time. “I’m afraid Mason has already…”

She had loved him for the longest time, but she had never confessed to him. Now that he had gone ahead and said half of it, she decided she’d just come out and say it.

“Are you trying to say Mason realized that I have a thing for you?”

What she said spooked him real good.

He was an honest man who adhered closely to the moral principles he held so dear to his heart. So, his mind was drawing a blank when Lila so flagrantly pushed him for an answer to her feelings.

He ran the thought in his head for a long time before deciding to turn her down gently. “I’m a married man, for Heaven’s sake! More to the point, I’ve never thought of you that way, Lila. I’ve always seen you as nothing more than Lisa’s younger sister.”

She stared at him profoundly in response.

Then, she decided she wouldn’t back down. “I know you have some feelings for me, Westley.”

He lowered his voice and said, “I don’t. I really don’t! You have to stop coming here, Lila. I’ll buy my own medicine.”

She was about to say something, but he had already turned around

and left.

He might’ve been separated from Lisa, but they were still legally married. Moreover, Lila was his sister-in-law. There was simply no way he’d do unspeakable things with her.

Mason was still there when Westley returned.

His son was leaning on the couch, drinking his coffee, when he heard the door opening and saw his father. He looked a little distressed for having just argued with Lila.

Mason asked dryly, “Did you fight with Aunt Lila?”

Still standing at the door, his lips parted a little. Then, he instinctively defended himself, “There’s nothing between us, Mason! You have to stop reading too much into it.”

Mason merely smiled wryly and said, “She’s my aunt. How am I

supposed to read too much into anything? I’m just curious about the fact that you guys kept in touch. That’s all.”

Westley was flustered by it all.

His son was just ten years old when he left. Now, however, Mason felt so imposing and indomitable before him.

In the end, he sighed and explained, “As you know, I left our home all those years ago. Lila offered me some help when I ran into some serious trouble overseas. I lost my memories and stopped keeping in touch with her ever since.

“We didn’t get in touch with each other again until recently. Please don’t tell your mother about this, Mason. She tends to be quite paranoid at times.”

However, Mason didn’t say anything to him.

Instead, he picked up his coat. Then, he looked at the medicine on the

coffee table and said, “You should go to the hospital for a checkup if you aren’t feeling well. Over the counter medicine isn’t going to help you.”

Westley felt a little touched that his son cared about him.

Mason didn’t say anything beyond that. The worst that could happen between his father and his aunt was just some harmless flirting. After all, it was plain to see that she had a thing for his father.

Going downstairs, he got into his car and checked the envelopes his mother had given him.

Then, he called Zoe.

It rang for a while before she answered. He was quite happy and spoke in his husky voice, “Hey, Zoe, How about we hang out a little? Perhaps we can catch a movie?”

He asked her out for a movie a few years back. However, it was merely a trick. So, they didn’t catch any flicks back then.

Ever since then, it had become one of his many regrets.

With that said, he fully intended to make it up to her now.

However, she rejected him. Firstly, she didn’t want to go out on a snowy day. Secondly, her kids would be left in the villa and Mia couldn’t exactly look after them on account of her legs. Lastly, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to go out with him.

Instead of getting angry over it, he lowered his voice and said, “Well, I can always come over. I’ll ask them to send the film reel to your place. Then, we can watch it there.”

‘He’s such a psycho!’ she thought to herself.
