Mason wasn’t sure how he should feel about this.
The last time he was at Westley’s apartment, he knew just how much Lila loved his father. He hadn’t even dealt with her and here came a fresh set of problems.
Dewetta was accusing Westley of groping her. The whole thing escalated and they were brought to the police department. Needless to say, it hurt the company’s reputation.
He had no choice but to deal with it himself.
Even Zoe was surprised at the revelation. Glancing at the heavy rain outside, she pondered a little and said, “Have Luke take you there. Otherwise, I’m coming with you!”
His legs might’ve recovered fully, but she was worried about him because of the terrible weather.
They stared at each other in the mirror for a long time. Then, he said softly, “I’ll ask Luke to take me there. Your period has just started. You should rest. After all, you’ve always been rather frail.”
It was brief, but the affections in his words were unmistakable.
Truth be told, she was still worried about him, but she didn’t want to overdo it. So, she put on a jacket and went downstairs with him. She went all the way to the door to see him off.
It was pouring terribly now.
As soon as Mason got into the car, he lowered the backseat window halfway through and waved to her, gesturing for her to get back into the manor.

She stood on the steps and watched quietly as his car pulled out of the manor. By the time she went back into the bedroom, she could no longer fall asleep.
The situation was trickier than he thought.
Ava was already waiting for him in the rain when his car pulled over at the police department. Holding an umbrella, she walked over as soon as it stopped and opened the door for him.
She gave him the rundown of the situation as they walked toward the police department.
“Dewetta insists that Mr. Westley groped her. The trickiest part about this is that they were chatting somewhere the security camera couldn’t see them. So, he’s having a hard time clearing his name.”
She paused for a while before adding, “For the record, I don’t think he would’ve done something like this.”
“I know that!” Walking in the rainy night, Mason said dryly, “Westley is just the worst when it comes to rejecting a lady!”
Ava didn’t respond to that. After all, it wasn’t her place to comment
on it.
They entered the police department and surprised the officer in charge of this case. Why would Lockwood Corporation’s director come here in person? It was just a spat between a couple of ordinary staff. Why was it worth his attention?
The officer was about to say something, but Dewetta made a dash at Mason and grumbled, “You have to speak up for me, Mr. Mason! I’m thirty-odd years old, but I’m still single. Now that Westley groped me, it’s going to tarnish my reputation. Men are going to stay away from me and I might never be able to marry anyone for the rest of my life.”
She had mistakenly thought that Mason came here because he cared
about her.
After all, she was one of the best employees in her department!
As expected, he asked her softly, “Do you have a boyfriend?”
Dewetta was stunned a little. Then, she lowered her voice and said, “I don’t have one right now! However, this incident has taken a heavy toll on me, Mr. Mason! Look, I’m not here to make his life difficult. If he doesn’t intend to admit his crime, I can consider coming to a settlement with him, with certain conditions, of course!”
Ava was about to say something, but Mason raised his hand and gestured for Dewetta to keep going.
Realizing that the director was on her side, she grew bolder and said the truth, “The truth is, I can accept him as my husband. If he agrees to marry me, then he’s got to put all of his properties under my name. Then, I’ll forget about today’s incident. Hell, I’ll be the better person and forget about everything he did in the past.”
Mason turned and looked at Westley.
Westley seemed reserved and honest, as he always was. Then, he was about to say something before he bit his tongue and remained quiet instead.
Chuckling, Mason looked at Dewetta and said to her solemnly, “You can’t have his house.”
“Huh?” She responded.
Taking a seat on the wooden couch, he pulled out a cigarette from his front pocket while the officer lit it for him.
