Chapter 117
“Hello, I am Joseph’s father, David Wilson.”
Sherry looked at the middle–aged man in front of her, who wore a serious expression,
and nodded slightly. “Hello, I am Sherry Wilson.”
She had imagined what it would be like to meet her father.
Perhaps it would be a scene where both of them had tears in their eyes or a moment
filled with deep emotions. Maybe he would tearfully explain that he had no choice but
to leave her and her mother behind, and now he had finally found them again. But she
never expected that their first one–on–one conversation would start with introductions.
When David heard her say her surname was Wilson, his expression changed for a
moment but quickly returned to normal. He gestured for her to sit down and said,
“Hello, Ms. Wilson, I have something I want to discuss with you. Would you like to have
a cup of coffee?”
“Sure.”

Although she knew he must be referring to Joseph, Sherry still nodded.

The coffee shop in the amusement park was crowded, but fortunately, there was a
secluded corner with a table for two where only a few people came. It was perfect for a
conversation.
The waiter came to take their order, and David asked her, “What would you like to drink,
Ms. Wilson?”
Sherry smiled lightly. “Could you please bring me some hot milk?”
“Alright.” The waiter silently noted it down.
David ordered an iced Americano for himself and a fruit platter.
“I got used to it when I was abroad. I feel like something is missing if I don’t have a cup
of coffee every day. It seems like you don’t like coffee, Ms. Wilson.” David said it
casually.
Sherry smiled unnaturally and said, “Recently, my health doesn’t really allow me to drink
coffee.”

“Oh.” David didn’t show much reaction, as if the person sitting in front of him had
nothing to do with him. Her health had nothing to do with him.
Soon, the waiter brought the milk and coffee
David took a sip of his coffee and casually said, “Your mother used to love iced
Americano as well. You don’t resemble her in this aspect.”
Sherry raised her gaze. “Do you know who my mother is?”

“Of course, you two look very similar,” David said frankly. “Ms. Wilson, I believe there are
many things we need to discuss, including past events and our current relationship. It
would be better to address them all at once so that future encounters won’t be too
awkward, don’t you think?”
Sherry sneered coldly. “Mr. Wilson, you make a valid point. I must confess, after more
than twenty years, I am very curious about how you could heartlessly abandon a
woman who was carrying your child without any remorse.”
Her words were direct, causing David’s expression to darken instantly.

“You wouldn’t understand what happened in the past.”
“Yes, I don’t understand. That’s why I’m eager to hear your explanation. Did you get
involved with Nora before or after my mother became pregnant with me?”
As soon as Nora was mentioned, David’s attitude became noticeably serious, and he
spoke with a condescending tone, “Nora is your elder. How can you address her so
casually? Is this how your two uncles have taught you?”

Sherry also became angry: “Haven’t you been living abroad for a long time? Don’t you
know that it’s common to address people by their first names in foreign countries? Or is it that you have double standards in your mind, and you just want to protect Nora?”
“You…” David became somewhat furious, slamming his coffee cup on the table. “If you
have this attitude, then we have no way to continue this conversation.”
“Mr. Wilson,” Sherry took a deep breath, trying to suppress her anger. “If I remember
correctly, it was you who invited me here, saying that you had something to discuss
with me.

David sneered coldly. “Alright, since you’ve made your stance clear, I’ll be direct as well.
Joseph is my son, the only child I acknowledge. In the future, when I pass away, he will
be the only one with the right to inherit my wealth. Don’t think too much about it, and
don’t have any expectations.”
The only child?
Sherry nodded. “So, you mean you don’t acknowledge me as your daughter?”
་་་་་
“Why should I? I did have a relationship with Alice when we were young; I won’t deny
that. But we broke up quickly, and since then we have had no connection. Now
suddenly, there’s someone claiming to be my daughter, wanting to be recognized as part of the family. Ms. Wilson, we’re not fools; I know exactly what you’re thinking. It’s just that the two of us are here now; there’s no need for you to pretend. Aren’t you just envious of the wealth of our Wilson family? But let me make it clear to you: you have no
connection to this wealth at all; I will only leave it to Joseph.”
David’s finally revealed his true color.
Sherry watched coldly and didn’t say a word until he finished speaking.

Was this the father she had been longing for for more than twenty years?

Was this the man her mother risked her life to bear a child for and entrusted her life to?
Sherry felt that not only did her mother make a mistake, but she also died in vain.
“Mr. Wilson, rest assured, I have no interest in the wealth of the Wilson family.”
‘There’s no need for you to say these pretentious words; I know very well what kind of
life your two uncles have been living all these years. You poor people struggling at the
bottom of society are always like this, trying your best to climb up the ladder to change your life. Your uncles told you about me, right? Did they send you to bother me?”
“It has nothing to do with my uncles. Sherry sneered, “In my opinion, although my uncles are poor, their characters are far superior to yours. No matter how poor they are or how much suffering they endure, they still raised their own daughters, unlike you, who went abroad to make a fortune and didn’t care about your daughter’s life! No one
will–hurt their own children. But you’re just inhumane!” Sherry did not speak in a nice
manner.

David was furious, as expected, and he pointed at her and cursed, “Your mother is not a
good person either! And you! How dare someone like you pretend to be my daughter?
Let me tell you, even if I don’t have any children in this lifetime, I will never acknowledge
you as my daughter!”
That was truly a heartless statement.
Sherry lowered her gaze and said, “Unfortunately, I share the same opinion as you. Even
if I were an orphan for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t want to acknowledge a despicable
person like you as my father.”
“You!”
“Mr. Wilson, we have nothing more to say to each other. I’ll treat you to today’s coffee,
but I really have no interest in your insignificant money.”
Sherry turned around and left, went to the counter to settle the bill, and quickly walked
out of the coffee shop.
