Chapter 17

“You hit me?”

Sherry growled and raised her hand to slap her hard.

Smack.

“The first slap was for my uncle. He will no longer have an ungrateful daughter like you,

and I will take care of him. The second slap is for your shamelessness in intentionally

seducing your own brother–in–law!”

She used all her strength in those two slaps, causing Sophia to stagger back and

collapse to the ground.

Sophia’s makeup was perfectly applied today, and her outfit was carefully chosen. They

were the latest Burberry release, not yet available in the country. She only got them

because of Malcolm’s connections.

Everything had been ruined, her makeup had smeared, revealing her original dark skin

underneath, speckled like zebra

makeup. “Sophia, what happened to your face?”

Sophia had always looked like this, with delicate and flawless makeup, a lovely and

elegant woman, since he had known her. Even in private, she would ask for the lights to

be turned off. He assumed it was due to her shyness, but he never expected her true

appearance to be like this.

Sophia frantically covered her face with her hands and yelled, “Where’s my bag? Where

are my mirror and foundation? I need to touch up my makeup.”

“You dare to be a mistress looking like a black chimp? You’ve really lowered the average appearance level of mistresses!” sneered Camila. “You dare to be a mistress looking like a black chimp? You’ve really lowered the average appearance level of mistresses!”

Malcolm stood there watching Sophia flee in embarrassment, covering her face and struggling to fix her makeup. He was overwhelmed with a mix of emotions.

Ms. Castillo, what do you want?”

Chapter 17 You Look Lovely

“I don’t want anything. I just can’t stand the two of you bullying my sister, Sherry! Just

because she has good temper and doesn’t argue with you doesn’t mean there’s no

one to stand up for her! Malcolm, let me tell you, you better control that ugly monster,

Sophia. If she dares to be arrogant in front of Sherry again, don’t blame me for being

impolite!”

Camila stood with her hands on her hips, imposingly pointing at Malcolm. Malcolm

couldn’t even answer single question.

Sherry felt relieved after releasing her anger. However, as more people gathered to

watch, she felt the need to stop. “Camila, thank you for helping me vent and clear my

name. Let’s go,” she grasped Camila’s hand.

Camila clasped her hands and shouted, “Let’s go. I will introduce you to a male

celebrity.”

The two friends quickly escaped the crowd and stopped at the far end of the deck.

Oh my god, I can’t believe how ridiculous Sophia looked just now! Did you see it, SherryMalcolm’s face turned green when he saw her without makeup!” Camila said.

Sherry hugged Camila and said, “Thank you, Camila. I appreciate you standing up for

  1. me. I’m not very good at arguing, so I’m grateful to have you.”

Camila’s expression softened, and she comforted Sherry by patting her on the back.

“You’ve always had to bear everything alone, endure all the hardships. You don’t know

how to stand up for yourself, Sherry. You need to be more confident.”

Sherry’s thoughts were racing. “Sniper also told me the same thing.”

“To be more confident?”

Yes, he has told me that more than once.”

Camila laughed. “That means it’s not just me who thinks so. You’re smart, beautiful, and

have a pleasant personality. Who wouldn’t like you? Except that fool, Malcolm.”

Sherry exhaled and grinned. “It feels good to let it all out, and you’re right: regardless of

my education, I look better without makeup than she does.”

“Education doesn’t mean everything, you know? Besides, you did get into a good

university, Pimlico University! How many people in the country can get into Pimlico

University? If it weren’t for her, you would have graduated from a prestigious school.”

Sherry felt a warmth inside. She was fortunate to have a friend who would always

defend her.

“Camila, I know saying thank you between us is a bit cheesy, and you don’t like itso

Camila clenched her fists as if she were in a martial arts movie. “No problem, I’ll assist

when I see injustice.”

The sea breeze lifted Sherry’s slightly disheveled hair, revealing her exquisite face and

slender neck.

Sherry’s appearance was not conventionally attractive. She was like a chrysanthemum

woman, I can’t help but be moved.”

Sherry blushed and playfully curled her lips, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Hey, tone it

down a bit. You’re going a little overboard with the flattery.”

“I’m not exaggerating. It’s true,” Camila stated as she examined her from head to toe. “I

think you’d be perfect for playing a celestial being because your pure and cool

temperament is exactly like hers!”

“I’m not that pure and cool, chuckled Sherry. “I don’t want to tarnish the celestial

being’s reputation by portraying someone as mediocre as me.”

After talking for a while and venting their anger, they both felt hungry.

“You wait here: I’ll go get something to eat, Camila explained.

Chapter 1 Fallopian Tube Obstruction “What did I say? It’s your problem that you can’t conceive! Now that the test results are out, let’s see what you have to say!” Sherry Wilson’s grip on the test report wavered. When she saw the words “Blocked Fallopian Tubes” inscribed on it, she felt a chill from head to toe. After four years of marriage to Malcolm Ford, she still couldn’t get pregnant. Her mother-in-law pointed at her, with a furious look, implying that she was about to devour her. People passing by glanced at her as if she were a joke, pointing and gossiping, adding to the chaos. Malcolm was the only son of the Ford family, and she understood her mother-in-law’s desire for a grandson. So she had silently endured it all this time. “Mom,” Sherry said patiently, “let’s go home and talk.” “That’s my home, not yours. Get it straight! I have never recognized you as a member of the Ford family. You’re not worthy!” Her mother-in-law’s words were venomous. Sherry closed her eyes, feeling helpless. “We are legally married, and we have a marriage certificate.” “I’m telling you, Sherry, divorce Malcolm immediately! You won’t get a penny of the Ford family’s wealth!” As more people gathered around her, the sweltering weather and their piercing stares made her feel even more humiliated. Sherry took a deep breath, feeling helpless and hopeless.
