Chapter 39
Nathan, 52, from Herzoslovakia City, graduated from Herzoslovakia University with a
major in Landscape Design. After graduation, he was sent to Elbonia for further study
as part of a public assignment program. He has been married to his wife for many
years, and they have a son.

Mr. Sniper gave Sherry a brief introduction about Nathan. “Originally, I wanted to
investigate his wife as well, but there is very little information available. His wife seems
to be low–key and reluctant to be in the spotlight.”
After listening, Sherry felt even more secure.
There are many people with the surname Wilson, but considering other factors, there
may not be many remaining.
Based on the information her uncle brought back, it is highly likely that Nathan is her
father.
“Sherry, what do you think?” Mr. Sniper asked

“He has his own family now,” Sherry said after a moment of pause. “Is his current wife
aware of his past relationship with my mom? I’m afraid that revealing my true identity to
him might destroy another woman’s family.”
Mr. Sniper touched her forehead and said, “You’re worrying too much. If it’s him, his
betrayal is inevitable, and he should face the consequences.”
“How about I find a chance to meet him alone?”
“Sherry,” Mr. Sniper sighed, “goodness is often taken advantage of, have you heard of
that?”
Sherry understood what he meant when he said she was too kind–hearted, but she also
had her own thoughts.
“The breakdown of a marriage or family is extremely difficult for a woman to bear. I
have personally experienced this sorrow, and I don’t want to be the cause of it for
someone else. Or maybe I just want to get a sense of what kind of person his wife is
and whether Nathan left my mother because of her.”

“There’s a good chance she doesn’t have any connections,” Mr. Sniper added. “My
people would have found out if she did. She’s most likely just an ordinary person with
no background.”
For now, there is no conclusion; this is only a possible lead.

The final outcome will most likely have to wait until Nathan returns to the country to be
confirmed.
This Sunday is the date of the second auto show.
Mateo called early Saturday morning and asked her to come over to do makeup for the
car models.
Sherry strongly opposed him picking her up this time, so she woke up at seven a.m.,
went downstairs, and caught the first bus to the car show venue.
Several other car models arrived one by one, forming groups and chatting about the
latest TV dramas and variety shows.

Sherry didn’t watch much TV and couldn’t participate in the conversation.

She wasn’t the type to actively socialize, so she sat in a small corner, quietly observing
them.
She pondered what type of makeup and hairstyle would look best on them.
“Can you tell me your name? Do you have any new car models today?” One of the car
models approached her and started a conversation.
She didn’t know who she was.
She couldn’t wear her previous clothes anymore because the white dress was too
eye–catching, so she changed into loose white sportswear that didn’t reveal her figure.
at all.
Sherry smiled and answered, “I’m a makeup artist.”
“I knew it! I knew it!” exclaimed the car model “Mr. Mateo pays attention to every detail!
Last time, the makeup artist was a relative! She came in dirty clothes and was scolded

on the spot by Mr. Mateo. You should be careful today.”
Sherry didn’t argue, she simply smiled and nodded.
She just wanted to quietly earn money and not attract too much attention to herself.
At exactly nine o’clock, all thirty car models had arrived, including Mateo.

When he arrived, the entire backstage makeup team fell silent, lowering their heads and
refusing to talk.
Mateo looked around the crowd before his gaze settled on Sherry.
His eyes suddenly darkened, and he pointed at her, saying, “You, come out.”
A few car models whispered to each other.
Mateo will most likely scold this makeup artist again.
This is really unlucky. Her appearance today seems more normal, or at least much
better than before. Why is she still being scolded?”

“You’re too naive. Does Mr. Mateo need a reason to reprimand someone?”
“…That’s true. I feel sorry for her.”

“Good morning, Mr. Mateo,” Sherry said as she stood up and walked over. “Is there
something you need?”

Mateo frowned, unsatisfied with her current appearance. “Are you wearing a big sack?
Is that what you’re dressed in?”
“The size is a bit big, not very fitting, Sherry observed, looking down at her sportswear
“However, wearing athletic clothes is more comfortable for movement and can
increase productivity at work. After all, isn’t the theme of today’s car show speed and power? I did my research.”
‘Nonsense, Mateo muttered, “you look ugly.”
This wasn’t the first time he had called her ugly in front of so many people, so Sherry
touched her nose and remained calm.

Mateo looked around, unsatisfied with the crowded situation, and grabbed her wrist,
pulling her away, saying, “Come with me; I have something to say to you.”
Everyone was surprised by his action of grabbing her wrist.

Mateo’s cleanliness and temper were well–known, and he voluntarily held the hand of a
makeup artist?
“Could she be Mr. Mateo’s girlfriend?”
‘The funniest joke I’ve heard this year is that Mr. Mateo actually has a girlfriend.”
“Doesn’t a handsome and wealthy man like Mr. Mateo have a girlfriend?”
“It’s normal for a handsome and wealthy man to have a girlfriend, but Mr. Mateo, who
always has an icy expression, having a girlfriend is rare.”
Mateo took Sherry to a less crowded area in the exhibition hall, while the makeup room
behind them was bustling.

“Um… What did you want to say, Mr. Mateo? We didn’t have to go this far.”
“I’m asking you,” Mateo pushed her against the wall, his hand slamming beside her
head, and asked, “Was it my brother who drove you home last time from the private
club?”

“It should have been on the way,” Sherry said, biting her lip and nodding. “Mr. Morgan is
very kind.”
“He drove you home?” Mateo’s voice was filled with disbelief. “Hundreds of employees
were waiting at the club to greet him, and he actually drove you home? Is he interested
in you?”
Sherry was speechless.
If Mr. Sniper is Maverick, he has been very good to her so far.
“If you don’t speak, it means you’re admitting it.” Mateo sneered, “So, I’m just a bridge
between you two? What am I to you?”

“I am familiar with him; I should have been acquainted with him even before I met you,
Sherry clarified.
“Hah!” Mateo exclaimed, placing his hands on his hips and releasing a scornful laugh.
He continued, “And what’s the point? Do you really think I look like a clown? Huh?
Sherry, I never thought I would be deceived by someone like you, Mateo!”
