Chapter 51
Mateo’s words had a jarring effect on Sherry, causing her to lose her composure.
“Mr. Mateo, you…” Sherry glanced at him, stunned.
Mateo smirked, his gaze scanning over her disheveled appearance. “What about me?”
“We don’t have the kind of relationship Malcolm described, so why would you admit it?”
Sherry couldn’t believe it.
“Indeed, we didn’t before.” Mateo placed his hands on her shoulders and pulled her into
his embrace. “But from now on, we do.”
Malcolm stared angrily at Mateo and Sherry’s Intimate display, his eyes filled with fury!
Sherry was a mess, and he wasn’t any better.
Their struggle had left his shirt twisted and wrinkled, and there were two bloodstains
on his face, evidence of being scratched by a woman’s nails.
- Chapter 51 Im Your Next Boyfriend
As he touched the wounds with his fingertips, he saw droplets of blood.
“Mr. Mateo, let me make this clear. I have been married to Sherry for four years. She is
no longer the innocent girl you imagine. I heard you have a serious obsession with
cleanliness. Aren’t you bothered by the fact that Sherry is a divorced woman?”
His words were filled with venom.
Sherry clenched her teeth and stared at him. “Malcolm, as I’ve said before, Mr. Mateo
and I don’t have the relationship you think we do! Our personal affairs should not
involve others!”
“I am not just anyone,” Mateo said, gripping her hand tightly. “I am going to be your next
boyfriend.”
Sherry couldn’t believe it. “Mr. Mateo, have you lost your mind?”
“I have never been normal,” Mateo said casually to Malcolm. “That’s right, I do have a
serious obsession with cleanliness, but you see, I am a car designer, and an artist’s
preferences are subjective. Whether she is divorced or even a nightclub girl, if I like her,
I like her. It has nothing to do with her profession or marital history.”
Mateo’s expression turned cold after speaking, and he forcefully pulled Sherry into his
car.
He had traded his bright yellow sports car for a navy blue SUV that was just as
imposing and dominant as he was.
Sherry protested and hesitated to get into the car. “Mr. Mateo, it will be difficult to
explain if I go with you like this. How can we still see each other at work?”
“Whoever dares to say a word can come directly to me. Sherry, I’ll say it one more time:
get in the car. If you don’t, I won’t care. You can go wherever you want with Malcolm.”
Perhaps his final words were too threatening. Sherry gritted her teeth and climbed into
Mateo’s car.
However, she didn’t take the front passenger seat and instead sat in the back.
Mateo frowned, and Sherry curled up into a ball, avoiding eye contact with him.
Malcolm stood there coldly, mocking Mateo’s actions. “It seems that Sherry is unwilling
to acknowledge your boyfriend status, Mr. Mateo. Why do you have to break up
someone else’s family? Sherry and I have been together for four years. What will you do
if we reconcile in the future?”
Mateo completely ignored him and got into the car without saying a word.
As the car passed Malcolm, Mateo rolled down the window. His gaze behind the
sunglasses was icy and distant. “Sherry will never become a stepmother to your child,
no matter how soft–hearted she becomes. That’s it. I’ll go ahead.”
The window was rolled up, blocking their view.
The navy blue SUV immediately left the current route and turned onto a busy road, filled
with traffic.
A crowd had gathered to witness the commotion. Some took pictures, some pointed
and whispered, and some recognized Malcolm and started posting on Facebook.
Malcolm clenched his teeth in anger, got into his car, and drove in the opposite
direction.
When he came to a stop at a red light, he noticed that Sherry had left her handbag in
his car.
He looked inside and found all her important documents.
She had made extensive preparations for the divorce.
Malcolm sneered and tightly held onto her handbag.
The air inside the car was heavy.
Mateo turned down the heat to 12 degrees, causing Sherry to shiver from the cold, but
she didn’t dare to say anything.
Mateo was her boss, and he was the one who paid her. In private, he was Maverick’s
younger brother. If she truly had a future with Sniper, they would become family.
What a cruel twist of fate!
Sherry couldn’t help but sigh.
“Explain,” Mateo, who had remained silent all this time, unexpectedly spoke.
“Huh?” Sherry was confused.
Mateo adjusted the rearview mirror, revealing Sherry in the back seat. “What’s the deal
between you and Malcolm?”
Sherry took a deep breath and bit her lower lip. “Isn’t marital status a matter of personal
privacy? Can’t I choose not to say?”
“No, you can’t,” Mateo said firmly.
Sherry didn’t find it surprising that Mateo was being so insistent after witnessing his
irrational side.
Despite being siblings, he and Sniper had such contrasting temperaments that they
were like polar opposites.
Sniper would be sensitive to her feelings and would never abandon her.
Mateo persisted with his question, “Today’s incident, I saved you. You should at least.
give me a reason. Otherwise, how should I respond if the reporters ask?”
“He didn’t say anything wrong, Sherry said, lowering her head. “But we haven’t actually
gotten divorced yet. We were supposed to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau together today
to handle the divorce procedures, but who knew he would suddenly go crazy?“,
Mateo pursed his lips tightly, feeling a heaviness in his heart as well.
“Why do people get divorced?”
“He cheated on me and got another woman pregnant.”
“Who is that woman? A famous actress? A model? Or an internet celebrity?”
Sherry forced a bitter smile. “It’s my cousin.”
Her brother–in–law having an affair with her younger sister–how cliché and disgusting!
It actually happened to her. Sherry even thought her life was a thousand times more
dramatic than the female characters in prime–time TV shows.
Mateo’s focus was intense. “Is your cousin prettier than you?” he asked, furrowing his
brow.
