Chapter 69 Ungrateful
Chapter 69
Days passed by, and ever since Sherry discovered her pregnancy, she became
increasingly cautious.
Mr. Sniper was even more cautious than her.

At ten o’clock in the morning, she was cooking in the kitchen when Camila leaned
against the kitchen door and complained, “Speaking of which, is Maverick really just the
CEO of an entertainment company? Are you sure he’s not running a money-printing
factory?”
Sherry was beating the eggs and steaming them over boiling water. She asked, “What’s
wrong?”
“He said he wants me to be responsible for taking you to the hospital to deliver meals to your uncle every day, and he’ll give me five hundred thousand dollars every day,” Camila pouted. “He might as well buy a nanny car, hire a driver, nanny, maternity
matron, and bodyguard. I bet it wouldn’t cost him five hundred thousand a day.”

Sherry chuckled upon hearing this. “I casually mentioned it to him last time. You said
you liked a bag but ran out of pocket money this month. I didn’t expect him to come up
with this solution.”
“Damn,” Camila threw her phone directly. “Did you really say that to him?”
“Yeah.” Sherry nodded. “You said you liked a bag but ran out of pocket money this
month, so I casually mentioned it. How much does that bag cost?”
Camila held up five fingers.
“Five hundred thousand?”
“Five thousand dollars,” Camila said. “Do you have any misconceptions about me?
Although I spend money recklessly, I can’t bear to spend five hundred thousand on a bag! Hey, your Mr. Sniper’s daily salary is enough for me to buy a hundred bags. Sherry, I feel uneasy about taking this money. We grew up together, and it’s only natural for me
to protect you now that you’re pregnant. If I had to be paid for it, what kind of person
would I be?”

Camila firmly refused to accept this compensation, but after thinking about it, Sherry
realized that if she returned the money to Mr. Sniper, he would definitely be unhappy
given his temperament.
So she suggested, “Then why don’t you save it? Or invest it in something.”

Camila pondered for a moment and thought it was feasible. “In that case, I’ll establish a
fund in your name. We can use it to help women with infertility. We can do some good
for society and accumulate blessings for you and the baby. How about that?”
Sherry smiled. “This money was originally for you. You can distribute it however you
want.”
“Oh my god, I never expected that even a loser like me could make a contribution to
society,” Camila exclaimed, raising her phone to show the latest text message to Sherry.
“I just received a transfer notification this morning for five million dollars, with a note
saying it’s for ten days of travel expenses. I can’t believe it; I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot.”
The dishes were still the usual home-cooked style, with a mix of meat and vegetables. There was chicken breast, broccoli, egg custard, and winter melon soup, all looking

incredibly appetizing.

Camila peeked over curiously, and she said, “Sherry, your cooking skills are getting better and better. You’re even better than my family’s housekeeper. Three dishes and a
soup; we just need a fish.”
Sherry smiled and served her a portion. “Be careful; the soup is hot. Take your time.
Fish is considered a stimulating food, and my uncle has a large burn area on his body,
so it’s better for him to avoid fish for now. Chicken breast has a high protein content
and is low in fat, making it easier to digest.”
Camila sipped her soup and shook her head repeatedly. “Cooking is such a
complicated skill. I think I’m destined to be a lazy person. Don’t expect me to learn all
these things in my lifetime.”
Sherry chuckled. “If you want to eat, just come over. I’ll cook for you.”
Camila grinned mischievously. “As long as Mr. Sniper doesn’t find me annoying.”
“He’s usually at the company during the day and only comes back at night, so it’s fine
Chapter 69 Ungrateful
for you to come over during the day.”
Camila readily agreed, “Then I’ll come over often. Just don’t find me annoying.”
Sherry silently refilled her bowl with soup.

“By the way, Sherry,” Camila finished her last sip and suddenly remembered something.
“Do you know that Sophia has surprisingly good luck? She and her unborn child were
on the verge of death, but miraculously, they managed to find a blood donor from somewhere else! Now that she’s happily carrying the baby, it really annoys me.”
Sherry calmly packed the finished dishes into separate lunch boxes, taking her time.
“She made a mistake, but she doesn’t deserve death, and the child is innocent. It’s a
good thing they were saved.”
“I just think life is so unfair to be so kind to bad people and so cruel to good people. But
luckily, you met Mr. Sniper, and your life is a thousand times better than at the Ford
family’s. Even I, the little nobody, can bask in your glory.”
Sherry couldn’t help but chuckle. “What’s wrong with you? Don’t look down on yourself

like this.”

Camila replied, “Oh, that’s not important. What’s important is that it’s almost time for
the noon visiting hours. Let’s hurry to the hospital. Let me tell you, Mr. Sniper has set
strict rules for me. The maximum driving speed cannot exceed 30 miles per hour. It’s as
slow as a snail. It’s torture! But he’s doing it for your own good, so I reluctantly listen to
him.”
Normally, it would take half an hour to drive, but today it took a whole hour.
When they arrived at the hospital, it was lunchtime.
Camila let out a sigh of relief after parking the car. “Oh my god, it’s the first time I’ve
driven a car like a tractor. It’s really giving me a hard time!”
Sherry patted her head. “Tell me, what do you want to eat tomorrow? I’ll make it up to
you.”
Camila had been eagerly anticipating this moment and immediately began listing dishes. “Well, listen carefully. I would like to have steamed lamb, steamed bear paw,

steamed deer tail, roasted duck, roasted young chicken, roasted gosling, braised salted
duck, soy sauce chicken, cured meat, and sausage.”
Sherry quickly exited the car and closed the door.
Camila didn’t just want individual dishes; she desired a full-course meal.
Camila rolled down the car window and waved at her. “Alright, I was just teasing you.
How could I let a pregnant woman be so busy? Go upstairs quickly; I’ll wait downstairs
and take you back later.”
During lunchtime, the hospital was crowded, and Sherry had to wait for a while before
the elevator arrived.
Ding…
The elevator doors opened.
Sherry was about to step into the elevator when she caught sight of a familiar figure.
“Sherry?”
Chapter 69 Ungrateful
Sherry greeted him with a polite smile. “Mr. Mateo, what a pleasant surprise! Are you
also here to visit a patient?”
Mateo glared at her with anger. “No! I’m here to see a doctor.”
Sherry observed him, noticing that he was still wearing a leather jacket and studded
boots without a scratch.

“Oh, I see…
In that case, I won’t distract you from your doctor’s appointment. Take care
and get well soon.”
After uttering those words, she walked past him and pressed the button for the 16th
floor.
Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a large hand reached out and pulled her
back.
Mateo gritted his teeth in anger. “Sherry, you ungrateful person. Don’t you even care to
ask about my illness?”
