It had been almost a week since Sherry last saw Mateo.
If it weren’t for him at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Malcolm would have
forced her into a relationship. Regardless of Mateo’s attitude, Sherry appreciated his
kindness.
“Um…” Sherry asked awkwardly, “Is there something bothering you?”
“In my heart.”
“Heart condition?”
Mateo was furious. “What the hell, heart condition? My body is stronger than ever, and
my heart is perfectly fine.”
Sherry stepped back, avoiding his anger.
“It’s not a physical discomfort, but something emotional. So, what is it?”

*I just can’t figure it out,” Mateo stood with his hands on his hips, looking down at her.
“You, although you’re good-looking, after spending some time with you, you’re just like everyone else. Plus, you have a bad temper, and you’re not very smart. I just don’t understand why I feel so uncomfortable and out of sorts when I haven’t seen you for a
few days.”
Sherry was stunned after hearing this: “Huh?
“What’s with the ‘huh’? Are you clueless?” Mateo glared at her irritably and said, “I asked
my brother, and he said that he and you don’t have that kind of relationship. He’s a
person who, although a bit old-fashioned, has never lied, so I believe him. Since you two don’t have any relationship, where did he take you when he picked you up from my car
that day? What did you do afterwards?”
Sherry took a deep breath and frowned. “That’s what he said? We don’t have that kind
of relationship.”
“Yeah, so what? Is there really a relationship?”
Sherry denied repeatedly, “No, no, whatever he said is true. I’ll take his word for it.”

Mateo’s expression improved slightly. “I was actually planning to find you. I’ve been thinking about it this past week. If you’re with my brother, then I’ll give up decisively and

Sherry understood his meaning and wanted to explain, “Mr. Mateo, listen to me; I

“Okay, I know what you’re going to say. You’re already married, right? You have

you’re married, you can get a divorce, and I don’t mind at all. And as for the person you
like now, I, Mateo, am wealthy and attractive. Besides my brother, I am confident that I
can win you over. You might reject me because of that person now, but it’s okay. I will

These impassioned words would have made an ordinary girl’s heart race.
But Sherry just felt a bit troubled.
It was clear that Mateo held Maverick in high regard, but she couldn’t tell him the truth.
Mr. Sniper didn’t want his identity exposed, and she couldn’t hold him back.
It was a bit awkward.
“Um, Mr. Mateo, have you ever considered your future? Like, how many children do you
want to have?”
Sherry’s question left Mateo puzzled. “Why? I don’t mind. I can afford to raise however
many children.
Finally finding a breakthrough, Sherry said, “I’m infertile.”
“I got diagnosed at this hospital. I have a doctor’s certificate. Do you want to see it?”
Mateo looked skeptical. “You’re happy about being infertile?”
“Am 1 happy?” Sherry rubbed her cheek and forced a laugh. “I’m not happy. I’m just
explaining the situation to you. Your family is so big, they probably wouldn’t want a woman with infertility issues, right? So we’re not suitable.”

Ah, Mr. Mates, what do you want to say?” Sherry was prepared to face his anger or for
him to leave in a huff:

But Mateo burst into laughter. “How many times are you planning to use this excuse?
You already told me last time that I don’t care about having children. With my brother around, he will get married and have children, I don’t feel any pressure. A lifetime of just
the two of us is the most romantic thing for me. I don’t even want children.”

Sherry bit her lip. She didn’t remember saying it.

“Is this the meal you made for your uncle?” Mateo took the lunchbox from her hand,
opened it, and sniffed. “Not bad; it smells good. I want it tomorrow too.”
Sherry snatched the lunchbox back. “Mr. Mateo, you’re not sick. You can go buy
delicacies yourself.”
‘I’m tired of eating those. Can’t you understand? If you don’t bring it to me tomorrow,
don’t bother coming to the car exhibition anymore!
Sherry was speechless. “Mr. Mateo, can we talk about this rationally?”
Mateo raised an eyebrow, not taking his words back.

The elevator arrived once again.
During the time they were talking, the elevator had already arrived a few times.

Sherry quickly slipped into the elevator without him noticing, frantically pressing the close button. The elevator doors slowly closed. ‘Mr. Mateo, I’ll go deliver the food to my
uncle first. We can talk about the other matters later. Don’t worry, I’ll be on time for the
next car exhibition. Goodbye!”
Finally, the elevator doors closed, and Sherry let out a long breath.
What kind of bad luck was this? How did she end up getting involved with this stubbor
man?

As the elevator went up to the sixteenth floor, her uncle had already stuck his head out
of the elevator doors. The moment he saw her, he instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Sherry, you finally came.”
Sherry let him pull her to the side. “Uncle Jayden, why couldn’t I reach you these past
few days?”
“It was that masked gentleman. He told me to turn off my phone for a few days.
Malcolm really reported me to the police! If it wasn’t for him, you probably would’ve had
to come bail me out at the police station.”
Sherry asked for a while and finally understood what had happened that day.
Sophia had a fall and got injured, so Malcolm took her to the hospital and reported her
uncle for intentionally harming her. It was Mr. Sniper who spoke to the police, which
prevented her uncle from being immediately taken away.
“He advised me to wait for a few days. If Sophia and her child are safe and sound, my
