Sherry shook her head and leaned against the tree trunk, slowly straightening her body
and avoiding his hand. “I’m fine; I just need to rest for a while. By the way, where is
Malcolm?”
“Don’t worry, he’s gone,” he replied.
Sherry breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”
Mateo blinked, observing the expression on her face. “Are you afraid of him?”

afraid of getting involved with him again. If possible, I never want to see him again in
my life.”
Mateo shrugged. “Although I don’t know what happened between the two of you
before, it’s clear that your previous married life wasn’t pleasant.”
“It was terrible,” Sherry said, forcing a smile, “Mr. Mateo, thank you. Twice now, it’s
because of you that I’ve been able to escape from Malcolm.”

me?”
“Didn’t I just thank you earlier?” Sherry noticed his displeased expression and added,

openly opposed Malcolm for you, and there was an important guest inside that I didn’t
even entertain. Is this enough for you?”
Sherry asked, “Then, Mr. Mateo, how do you want me to thank you?”

me?”

Mr. Sniper gently pressed his lips against the back of her hand. “Do not be afraid. I won’t
cause you harm; I will only protect you. If it weren’t for Malcolm’s excessive actions, I
might have never revealed my true identity.”
