Chapter 10
“Clear the area? It’s barely 6 PM, are you kidding?” Perla exclaimed.
“No kidding. Kiridly leave now, ladies,” the waiter said.
“Why? We haven’t even finished our meal.” Salma fumed, always high–handed, and now was no exception.
“Why? Our restaurant doesn’t welcome you,” the waiter stated bluntly.
“Do you even know who I am?” Salma asked.
“Nope,” the waiter responded flatly.
“You don’t know Salma Moore? She’s a big star, and Moore Group was established by her family,” Perla chimed in, introducing Salma’s identity.
“Okay,” the waiter acknowledged but remained indifferent. “Miss Moore, please leave through this way.”
Salma and Perla were livid. Just as they angrily got up to leave, they suddenly noticed Kylie at the adjacent table. They hadn’t expected to find Kylie here, especially accompanied by a strange man and a little boy.
The man was strikingly handsome. Though Salma had high standards and usually considered no man up to her caliber, she found him quite alluring. She had no idea. there was such a good–looking man living in Belicy. Despite working in showbiz, she’d never seen such a stunning guy there.
“Kylie?” Perla reacted, calling out to Kylie.
Kylie ignored her as if she hadn’t seen or heard her. Perla, looking at Ethan, was taken aback and slightly envious of Kylie. She couldn’t believe Kylie had found such a good- looking guy, even more handsome than Sergio.
With a tinge of resentment, Perla quickly remembered something and blurted out, “Is he the firefighter you had a crush on?”
Salma felt a bit disappointed. Now she understood why she hadn’t seen this man before. He wasn’t from her social circle.
“The boy next to you, is he his son? Kylie, even if you’re still hung up on Sergio after the breakup, you shouldn’t seek solace in a man like this. Even if it’s your way to get back at Sergio, you shouldn’t go for a guy with a kid!” Perla glanced at Joseph again.
Joseph furrowed his little brows, filled with hostility towards Perla.
Chapter 10
Though Perla seemed well–intentioned, she was actually being sarcastic. Her words were meant to humiliate Kylie while also hinting to Ethan that he was just a backup, attempting to sow discord between Ethan and Kylie. “And you’ve even brought him to a place like this for dinner? A meal here costs five figures without batting an eye!”
Kylie suddenly stood up from the table, giving Perla an icy stare. She didn’t want to have a tantrum, at least not in front of Joseph. Perla’s persistence had reached its limit.
Kylie gently covered Joseph’s ears and snapped. “I advise you to stop being so shameless!” Kylie’s voice was chilling. “You think everyone likes trashy men like you do? Sergio, that guy can’t even control his own urges. What’s there for me to be sad about, or to seek revenge for? Ever since the day I called it quits, Sergio means nothing to me!”
“You…” Perla turned pale at Kylie’s words.
Salma chimed in with a cold sneer, “Sour grapes, I’d say!”
Kylie shot her a frigid glare. Salma wasn’t afraid, meeting her gaze. Salma said, “Did I say something wrong? Everyone in Beliey knows what a mess you are! But I get it. Now that Sergio doesn’t want you, someone like you only deserves to be with a man like him!” She glanced at Ethan.
Salma had lost all interest in Ethan. A man of lower status held no allure for her, especially one with a child. Such a man was entirely off–limits for her. Salma felt Kylie was disrespecting herself by entertaining such men. That was something Salma would never do.
“A man like me? What are you implying?” Ethan’s gaze sharpened, his voice dropping ominously.
Upon hearing Ethan’s words, both Perla and Salma involuntarily shivered, feeling a chill down their spines. Salma clenched her lips, refraining from speaking further. Perla, too, remained silent.
“I am not someone you can judge.” Ethan’s chilling voice continued. “As for my relationship with Kylie? That’s right! I like her and I’m pursuing her. So, if anyone dares to meddle in my pursuit of Kylic, they won’t have it easy. I warn you, I mean what I say!” After Ethan finished speaking, he signaled to the waiter.
The waiter hurried over, and coolly said to Perla and Salma, “You two, please leave.”
Both Perla and Salma, still shaken by Ethan’s words, took a moment to recover from their shock.
Salma gritted her teeth. “Why aren’t they leaving?” Salma was unwilling to be the only one asked to leave.

“Because only the two of you need to leave,” the waiter explained.

Salma, furious, raised lier voice. “I am Hayden Group’s Mr. Hayden’s fiancée! How dare you kick me out?”
The waiter was momentarily dumbfounded and then regarded Salma as if she were an idiot.
“Get out now,” Salma ordered.
“If you both refuse to leave, I’ll have to call security,” the waiter stated coldly.
“You!” Salma’s face reddened with
anger
“Forget it, Salma. Let’s leave.” Fearing further trouble, Perla pulled Salma away, saying sternly, “We won’t be spending a dime here again.”
“Of course you won’t. Both of you have been blacklisted from our restaurant,” the waiter declared.
Salma was on the verge of exploding. Seeing Salma losing control, Perla quickly tugged at her, saying, “There might be paparazzi around. Hold back for now, we’ll settle this
another time.”
Salma was concerned that the incident might be intentionally sensationalized,
damaging her reputation. Reluctantly, she left the restaurant, seething with anger, with Perla by her side.
As soon as they left, the restaurant fell silent. Kylie and Ethan continued with their meal.
Observing Joseph struggling with the cutlery, Kylie sliced her steak into bite–sized pieces and exchanged them with Joseph’s.
“Thanks, Mom.” Joseph beamed, rising to plant a kiss on Kylie’s cheek.
Ethan glanced up, watching Kylie indulgently, a smile playing on his lips.
While Kylie was lowering her head to cut her steak again, a slender hand took her plate away. Kylie was momentarily puzzled, and then she looked up to see Ethan swapping the neatly sliced steak he had prepared with hers.
Kylie pursed her lips and said, “Thank you.”
“You can express your gratitude through actions,” Ethan said, his eyes low, continuing to cut the steak with measured elegance.
The more Kylie thought about it, the less she could fathom why Sergio, Perla, and

others mistook Ethan for a firefighter. To her, it seemed like a severe lapse in basic judgment on their part.
“Show appreciation like Jos does to you,” Ethan added, maintaining his composed and refined demeanor.”
Kylie understood what he meant. She replied, “I cut steak for Jos, and you cut steak for me. That way, we’re even.”
Ethan seemed to smile faintly and said, “Fair enough.”
After finishing the main course, Joseph happily dug into his dessert.
“Mommy, taste this dessert! It’s so good!” Joseph enthusiastically recommended.
Kylie couldn’t refuse Joseph and took a bite, lowering her head.
“Is it sweet?” Joseph asked excitedly.
“Sweet.” Kylie nodded.
“Really?” Ethan, initially engrossed in his phone as if dealing with something, overheard and said, “Let me try.”
Joseph frowned. He knew Ethan never ate sweets. Nonetheless, Joseph obediently fed Ethan a spoonful.
Kylie initially wanted to remind Joseph to use a different spoon, but then thought bette of it. That way, she and Ethan indirectly ended up sharing a kiss. Kylie pondered for a moment, pretending not to notice.
After Joseph fed Ethan, he eagerly asked, “Dad, is it sweet?”
“Sweet.” Ethan pursed his lips, suddenly glanced at Kylie, and added. “Very sweet.”
Kylie felt her cheeks inexplicably warm. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Ethan’s “sweet” carried a deeper meaning.
