Taming The CEO The Escaping Wife Chapter 78

Chapter 78

*Mrs. Ramirez was getting more difficult by the day,” Ranen pondered.

Letitia was sure as hell Elgin wouldn’t come to her.

How could such a big shot as the CEO of the Ramirez Group come to see a little-known designer like her in person? Unless he was seeking to create niore scandalous headlines about himself!

Ranen had no choice but to bail, wondering how he could break the news to Mr. Ramirez in the gentlest way possible.

Right after Ranen left, Letitia got up, heading to the company’s entrance to pick up her delivery.

She’d just grabbed her package when she turned around to see Phedra getting out of an SUV, dressed to the nines like some fancy lady.

Letitia shielded her face with the parcel, not wanting to bump into Phedra.

“Stop hiding. I’m here specifically for you,” Phedra called out to her. “Letitia, you must be some big deal. You have me coming to see you in person.”

Letitia stopped dead in her tracks, wondering what Phedra was up to.

“Something the matter?” she asked, her tone ice cold.

Phedra approached her saying. I’m your mother-in-law, after all. I only want to check on you. Wouldn’t want people saying I ignored your pregnancy.”

Letitia’s guard went up instantly. She couldn’t take anything about the child lightly.

She shielded her belly. “I can take care of myself. Thanks. No need for your concern.”

“Come on. I’m the baby’s grandma, Phedra said with a smile. “I’ve booked you a comprehensive prenatal examination at the hospital. Let’s go right now.

Saying so, she reached out to grab Letitia.

Letitia dodged. Thanks, but no. I’m busy”

She had no idea what Phedra was planning. In no way would she fall for Phedra’s trap. Once at the hospital, with everything set up by Phedra, she’d be helpless, shouting for help to no avail. That’d be a real danger!

“Hey, Letitia, don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” Phedra’s smile vanished instantly. “I’m trying to help, not harm you!”

“I’ve just had a prenatal examination. All good.” With that, Letitia turned to leave.

Phedra blocked her path, continuing. Do think you can get away that easily. I’m sincerely spending money on your prenatal examination, and you’re not even grateful? You’re going!”

Letitia dropped the pretense, sneering. “I bet it’s not a simple prenatal examination.”

“Just a prenatal examination! No tricks!” Phedra insisted. “You’re too precious right now. You are the apple of Hawley’s eye. I wouldn’t dare lay a finger on you.”

Phedra only wanted to confirm whether the baby Letitia was carrying was Elgin’s. She didn’t believe her contraceptive ploy had been entirely ineffective.

There must be something fishy about Letitia’s pregnancy

With modern medical tech, even a fetus can be DNA tested!

So, the prenatal examination was only a pretext for the real motive, which was to get Letitia to the hospital for a paternity test!

Letitia frowned. As far as she knew Phedra, Letitia understood it was never that simple.

“Come with me now, Phedra clutched her hand. “I’ve booked one of the top obstetricians in the country…”

Before Letitia could respond, Phedra had dragged her into the car.

Alarm bells rang in her head. “Phedra, let me out!”

“Fil take you back safe and sound after the examination, you and the baby both. What are you afraid of?”

don’t trust you!”

Phedra held her down. “Sit light. As long as you and the baby are fine, the Ramirez family can’t fault me one bit, even if I had to tie you up and take you to the hospital!”

Her goal was the paternity test, after all Phedra couldn’t believe Elgin could get Letitia pregnant so easily

Letta struggled “What the hell is wrong with you? Ever heard the phrase ‘no good deed goes unpunished?”

Stop arrugging in the car Otherwise, you’ll end up hurting the baby yourself without me lifting a finger!

At the hospital, Phedra shadowed Letitia’s every move.

Letitia had no way to top off Eloin!

Seeing Letitia comply. Phedra felt smug “Just do the examination and save yourself the trouble. Besides, Isn’t this good for you and the baby? Hurry on to the next one”

There were over a dozen items on the prenatal checklist, among which Letitia had never even heard of

She was initially on edge, but seeing the doctors were doing regular checks and the blood draws were standard, she slowly let her guard down.

Whatever Phedra was planning at least the baby was safe.

“Last one, the ultrasound Phedra announced “Go lie down over there. I’ll call the doctor”

Letitia eyed her. “What do you want?”

“Just want to see my precious grandchild.” Phedra grinned “Letitia, tell me. What if the child isn’t Elgin’s? Would Hawley still favor you?

It clicked instantly You’re after the child’s DNA!

“Right, all checks are done. You can leave now if you want. Whether you do the ultrasound or not is up to you”

Phedra had achieved her goal, her tone and expression more triumphant.

After all, she got what she wanted waiting for the results from the DNA lab!

If the child turned out to be Elgin’s, she’d accept her bad luck, blaming it on fate turning its back on her.

But if the child wasn’t of the Ramirez blood, that’d be quite the show!

Letitia went pale. What should she do? She didn’t even know who the father was! She knew it couldn’t be Elgin’s!

Once the results came out and Phedra had them, all would be doomed! The child wouldn’t stand a chance!

“Phedra you lowlife scum!” Letitia clenched her teeth. “Shameless!”

“Why so worked up? Or the child isn’t Elgin’s? Phedra probed “Letitia, maybe you should come clean now. Do you have a lover on

the side?”

Letitia turned and walked away

She’d fallen right into Phedra’s trap! If only she knew, she would’ve found a way to escape at all costs!

“Off you go” Phedras triumphant attitude was on full display. “I’ll let you know the results. Brace yourself.”

Letitia picked up the pace and yanked open the door to the ultrasound room.

But bam! She walked straight into a broad and familiar embrace.

“Elgin?” Letitia looked up and exclaimed in surprise.

His face was stony, his eyes quickly scanning her to ensure she wasn’t hurt.

Then he turned his gaze to Phedra. “If anything had happened to her, I’d have you packing your bags and out of the Ramirez family tonight!”

Phedra shot back with confidence. “I was giving her a prenatal examination. I’m her family and should care about her. Ask her if you don’t believe me!”

Letitia was at a loss for words, managing to reply. I’m fine. What brings you here?”

She hadn’t texted Elgin. How did he figure out she was missing and track her to the hospital?

Elgins eyes were icy and indifferent. “You think it’s cool to skip out on work and wander around? Am I not supposed to come looking for you?”
