Chapter 12
If Anastasia thought working with the monster would be easy, she was wrong in so many ways that she wouldn’t have known until now.
“Have you lost your mind? Hold the files properly,” Alpha Kaiden roared. as he walked towards the lift with Anastasia walking behind him with a pile of 50 files that were almost slipping out of her hands.
She knew he was doing it deliberately. He didn’t need to personally deliver these files to the employees.
Usually, they send these files to the management department, and the employees take them from the department during lunch. But of course, today, the owner was feeling atrociously generous and wanted to deliver the files himself.
She didn’t need a genius to tell her he was deliberately making things. hard for her.
“I… I am sorry, sir,” Anastasia clenched her teeth, closing her eyes in frustration when her cell phone started to vibrate in her pocket.
She looked ahead, resolute, as if it wasn’t her phone.
Alpha Kaiden looked at her from the corner of his eyes, “Pick it up. I am not going to eavesdrop.” He suppressed the urge to grin, knowing all too well why she wasn’t picking up.
“I–it’s okay. I am sure it’s some website where I applied for the job, Anastasia looked away awkwardly, her voice coming out squeakier than she had intended, making the alpha even more suspicious than he already was.
She sighed in relief when the phone stopped vibrating. However, her relief was cut short when the phone started vibrating again, the distinct noise echoing in the silent elevator.
“I think it’s something important. If you are having trouble picking it up, let me help you,” He said, extending his hand.
Anastasia widened her eyes before facing him and backing into the side wall to keep him away from her back pocket.
You don’t need to bother with it. I… I will talk to the person after we deliver the files. It’s not good practice to pick up your phone when you are with your boss,” she smiled awkwardly.
A teasing smirk appeared on his face.
“Miss Sia, did you really think I am one of those jerk bosses? I am indeed called a monster for obvious reasons, but I am not that cruel to my employees. What if the call is important? Let me help you,” Kaiden stepped closer, and she gulped, looking around, helpless.
“I think it’s okay, sir. I will just- ” The rest of the words paused in Anastasia’s mouth when he leaned into her, the files being the only thing between them.
“And what I think is you shouldn’t keep the person waiting,” He smirked, his eyes looking directly into hers, making her bite her lower lip.
If the phone were from K or one of her rogue friends whom she had asked for help finding the rogue head, her cover would slip terribly. Anastasia racked her brain to think of something to dodge the situation.
Alpha Kaiden observed the girl, inhaling her faint scent.
He knew why the rogue in front of him was fidgeting so much. The reasons were obvious, even when she was trying her best to hide the edginess in her voice and gaze. It was probably a call from a rogue or a person she didn’t want him to know about.
And the more she was acting like this, the more eager he became.
He leaned and placed his hand on her waist before pulling her close, sliding his hand down to her back pocket with his gaze focused on her eyes, which trembled with each touch.
Her skin was warm and soft, quite handy than he had thought. It still irked him how this girl was the only female in the entire world of wolf species he had been able to touch. And just because of this reason, he didn’t mind being a bit more touchy than needed.
A smirk spread to his lips before he smiled evilly.
“I hope you don’t mind me helping you,” he whispered, bending even further into her form so that their faces were almost next to each other as he almost hugged her, his lips brushing against her earlobe.
Not wanting the call to end quickly, he fished the phone out of her pocket and was about to receive it when the lift door opened.
A sigh of relief left her mouth, and Anastasia moved out of the lift so hurriedly that the phone slipped out of his hand and fell on the floor. “Damn, why would you do that?” Anastasia murmured under her breath, blaming him for something that she deliberately did, and Alpha Kaiden
looked at the girl who was pretending to be sad.
She was quite skilled with her act. He would’ve almost believed her if he didn’t know the truth.
He looked at her one last time before walking ahead.
Sooner or later, he would find the truth about her. Why was there not scent on her body, and why did she say she didn’t have a wolf when he could clearly feel the energy radiating off her?
There were many unanswered mysterious questions around her, and he knew not to believe a word she said.
After delivering the files, the alpha returned to his cabin to attend a meeting while Anastasia walked to the company’s cafeteria with a sigh once her shift was almost over. Since the meeting was going to extend a couple of hours, he had dismissed her, and she was free to go anywhere.
The main reason he did that was so that she could go and meet whoever that man was and his guys could catch her, but of course, he wasn’t going to tell her that.
“Hey, did you see her? She is the new rogue that our alpha recruited as his secretary,”
“As his secretary? But didn’t he always hate females lurking around him?” “I know, right? She has been the hot topic from the moment she entered the company,” “I bet she seduced our alpha. There is no way he would let a girl, let alone a rogue, stay anywhere near himself,”
The rumors started.
Anastasia heard everyone speaking about her and sighed.
They knew she was a well–functioning she–wolf, even if they didn’t know she had a wolf, who was hearing all their comments. If they really didn’t want her to hear, they would’ve talked in some closed space and not openly like this, but it was obvious they were targeting her.
She walked to the cafeteria, trying her best to stay out of those girls‘ ways. “Can I get a cold coffee?” Anastasia smiled at the cafeteria lady with the most polite look she could muster, but the lady only scoffed at her.
“We don’t serve rogues here. You are good–for–nothing parasites who only love to mooch off us pack members. What have you come here for? Just get lost and let me do my work,” The lady didn’t hide her hatred. The smile on Anastasia’s face faltered.
Of course, what else did she expect? This wasn’t a human company. It was a wolf company where she was the so–called outcast of society. She was about to walk away when someone came from behind her. “Hey, don’t be so mad. It’s not the girl’s fault that the alpha brought the girl here. If he has taken the pain, then there should be a reason behind it,” A girl walked to her, and Anastasia nodded at her gratefully, her smile forced and awkward.
“Here, you can take this. It’s not exactly a cold coffee, but I guess you can do with the hot coffee too, right?” The girl offered her coffee to Anastasia sweetly.
“That’s completely fine. I don’t drink hot coffee. Thank you for asking me,” Anastasia turned around to leave. However, before she could take another step, the girl held her hand in a steel–grip, rendering her unable
to move.
“Oh my, what is this? Did you see this, girls? I am here showing you some respect and talking nicely to you, and this is how you treat me? What an arrogant b*tch,” The girl asked Anastasia.
Anastasia immediately recognised the malice in her eyes and looked around at the laughing faces. Her fingers involuntarily went to her hands as she scratched herself, a subconscious reaction whenever she felt uncomfortable.
This wasn’t good. She didn’t need telepathy to know what was running in these girls‘ heads.
“I mean, I didn’t say I won’t help you, did I? If you can’t drink hot coffee, I can teach you too,” She said, and before Anastasia could understand what was happening or make another move, the girl threw the steaming coffee on Anastasia, making her wince and bit her lower lips to not scream in agony like they all wanted her to.
Anastasia stumbled back, pulling her top forward to keep the hot liquid from scalding her more than she already was.
It was painful. Tears welled in her eyes, and she looked around herself as everyone laughed at her.
Their cacophonic voice pierced her ears and mind.
It was the same, the same laughter, the same mockery, and the same pain all over again.
Her skin burnt even when she pulled her top like that, but it didn’t hurt as
much as these people’s laughter. The memories of the past started flashing in her mind, and her hands started to tremble.
‘Haha, look at her,”
‘Did she think she would fit in?”
‘A good for nothing, poor slut. At this point, she should rather start selling herself,
‘But who would buy stuff that you can get for free? Is she even worthy?’
‘Didn’t you see how she tried to seduce our alpha. She definitely has some skills,‘
‘Stupid girl thinks that she can change her fate,”
‘Why hasn’t she died already? She is nothing more than a stain to society
anyway,’
“Stop it,” Anastasia placed her hand on her ears, trying to drown the
voices.
“No. Please don’t say things like these. I am not an omega. We are not a
י
burden,” Anastasian chanted in her head, the image of her mom
committing suicide flashing in front of her eyes.
‘Who cares for an omega anyway?”
“The pack slut, that’s what she was.
‘She is a burden and -‘
“I said stop it!” Anastasia roared in agony, making everyone stop laughing.
She couldn’t take it anymore. Hot tears rolled down her eyes, and she ran towards the exit of the company.
However, she had walked only a few steps when someone held her hand, stopping her abruptly.
Anastasia turned to the person with her tears flowing down her cheeks, the familiar smirk making acid rise to her throat.
“Remember this lesson, b*tch. If you dared to make a move on Alpha Kaiden and seduce him with this slutty body of yours, things will get worse, and when I say worse, I hope you don’t think of testing me. This is just a 5% example of what can happen to you,” Tiffany whispered in
Anastasi’s ears, her eyes menacingly dark.
Now, run. Run and never come back. Because you are not welcome
here. The alpha might be smitten with you momentarily, but remember, an alpha always chooses his pack, and no one in this pack would ever let you live here. Take my suggestion- save yourself some humiliation and just get fucking lost,” Tiffany smiled at Anastasia sweetly before
pretending to be concerned for the girl.
“Oh my, are you alright?” Tiffany held Anastasia’s shoulders firmly, her fingers digging into her skin, making Anastasia wince in pain and push her back as she ran out of the company.
“Oh, I tried stopping her, but it looks like the rogue ran away after seeing so much work,” Tiffany exclaimed in pretence before smiling and nodding at her girls.
