Chapter 13
Pain. Humiliation.
Everything was back to her once again.
And just like every time, it made sure it hurt more than before. Anastasia didn’t know how long she ran until she reached the park.
Maybe it was because her body had given up since she had been running for so long. She settled on one of the rusty benches, her dried tears on her cheeks, making her wipe her face furiously.
“Mom, help me on the swing.”
Anastasia saw a little girl running at some distance.
“Milan, don’t run so fast. You’ll fall. You don’t want mumma to get worried, right? Let’s not fall and get wounded. Mumma can’t run so fast,” a lady was walking beside the little girl, her protruding belly a clear indication that she was expecting another baby soon.
“I am sorry, mumma. I don’t want you to worry, mumma,” the little girl said.
“I know, my little princess. You will never do anything to get mumma in trouble,” The lady kissed her kid’s forehead.
A sob broke from Anastasia’s mouth as she witnessed the scene.
She didn’t want to make her mom worried, either. And that’s why she did. everything she could and went through all the humiliation. But in the end, every brick she had placed ever so gently and every wall she had formed between her mother and the reality of her life crumbled down.
She didn’t deserve any of it. Anastasia knew it. It was all because she was cursed with this kind of fate that she suffered everything. A fate so cursed that it made her end up with Jackson, the worst kind of mate of all. Anastasia leaned back and lay on the bench with her legs on the ground, letting her tears fall again to forget about this scenario and humiliation. She wanted her pain to flow from her eyes and ease the uneasiness in her heart.
At least for a couple of hours until the night came and slapped reality in her face, she wanted to forget about it.
It was the same humiliation all over again. That girl Tiffany just made
her realize how bad it can go for her, and the worst part was, she couldn’t run away from here like she did from her old pack because it would
infuriate alpha Kaiden now.
She was stuck in a situation where there was a ditch on one side and a well on the other side.
“Anastasia, I am sorry,” her wolf started, and Anastasia opened her eyes, looking into the sky with blurry vision.
“It’s not your fault that those girls were mean to us. As much as I want to blame you for everything happening to me, I know you have your reasons. And as much as those reasons are killing me, maybe that’s just my fate,” Anastasia said, and her sad words made the wolf even sadder. “It’s all because of me. Because I wanted to see you happy I thought that Alpha Kaiden, the monster, would keep you safe from what you were planning with the rogues. I am with you in your revenge, but I can’t see you destroying yourself,” her wolf said.
Anastasia chuckled, her chest still hurting from the hot coffee poured over her.
‘I just want to drown this pain. I want to end this suffering, but I know I can’t. There’s no way I am giving myself an easy death and letting Jackson win, Anastasia said before she gulped, thinking of the only way to ease her pain.
She pulled out the dagger from her pocket and placed the blade on her index finger before slicing her skin.
Tip.
Tip.
Tip.
The blood started to drop on the ground floor, and she smiled as the pain she was feeling in her heart was replaced by the pain in her hand. ‘Anastasia, don’t do it. Don’t hurt yourself. I know that you are hurt, but please. It breaks my heart to see you like this,’ Her wolf pleaded.
Anastasia, who was lost in her thoughts and drowning in her pain, didn’t even realize that the aura around her was changing.
The aura around her was becoming dark and alluring at the same time.
Meanwhile, the man who was asked by the alpha to follow her whenever she leaves the office, stood behind the bush, feeling bad for the girl hind the
That’s how her aura was. It makes you feel the pain she was feeling and drowns you in miseries along with her. That’s how her wolf was. For her human, she was ready to make the entire world feel the pain and grovel in sadness.
‘You will be happy if I come out, right? I will. But you have to promise you’ll stop treating yourself like this isn’t your life but someone else’s. You want to see me again. Heck, even I am tired of protecting you from the things that will be coming for you, Her wolf stood from her place when Anastasia didn’t stop drawing more blood.
This was the only way to stop the girl.
Her wolf stepped closer to her mind after a really long time, and Anastasia felt her heart and mind clogged as her wolf growled inside her, making him take a deep breath.
‘Dione, Anastasia called the sacred name of her wolf.
‘Why are you afraid? Are you afraid that someone will see us? That someone will come after you, want to kill you, possess you?‘ Her wolf asked, making Anastasia snap to reality.
The reason she never forced her wolf to come out and meet the world and suffered all the pain, the reason she still takes all the humiliation was because her wolf was sacred to the world.
In her moment of anger and pain, she completely forgot the promise she had made to herself, the promise to save her wolf from the evil eyes of this world.
Her dad left her, her mother left her, her pack didn’t want her, and her mate rejected her. The only person left close to her heart was her wolf.
How can she not try and sacrifice everything to protect her? Regret immediately filled Anastasia’s mind, and she closed the dagger before putting it inside her pocket again.
“Dione, I am fine now. You don’t need to,” Anastasia tried reasoning with
her wolf.
‘Dione! You can’t!‘ Anastasia raised her voice, and the wolf, who was losing her mind after hearing so much from her human counterpart and seeing her cutting herself again to numb the pain, looked at the girl. The primal urge to protect her human from this world and save her from all the miseries was taking over. But when she saw the helplessness in Anastasia’s eyes who just wanted to keep her safe from the world, the

wolf immediately snapped out of anger.
‘I… I am sorry,‘ Dione said before she raised her head in the air and let out a loud howl.
‘Oowwwwwww, Dione howled, and Anastasia sighed in relief.
It wasn’t some normal howl. It was the howl of trans and manipulation.
The howl would make everyone forget about what happened here or what they saw happening to her in this park. No matter who the person is, they would forget it.
Anastasia looked around gulping, feeling self–conscious.
‘She shouldn’t be lying here. She needs to go and find out what happened. to Carl too. What kind of information does he have?’ She nodded at herself before standing, wiping her tears and looking at the dried blood on the ground.
She rubbed her foot on the ground to lose the soil and hide the scent of her blood to some extent before leaving the park..
The man, who was following her, stood there with shocked eyes as he noticed the white aura and energy resonating around the girl, who was mourning her pain.
He bit his lips, his hands starting to tremble under the pressure of what was happening or what he saw before darkness took over him.
After what felt like an eternity, he felt like something flashed in front of his eyes, some white and pure flash, making him fall on the ground, leaving him in a deep slumber.
“Hey, hey, are you okay?” He heard someone shaking his body and opened his eyes, looking around at the weird area.
“What am I doing here?” The man asked, and the human who woke him. up rolled his eyes.
“You are too young to get intoxicated like this. Don’t you have a home? Your parents must be worried sick for you. These boys and their weird drug addiction,” the old man left after saying, and the man kept looking around, unsure of what he was doing here or what was happening.
He was sure that he had come out of the company with some purpose in his mind, but what? He scratched the back of his head in confusion.
