“Dione, you have legitimately lost your mind. Come back before someone feels our presence, please,” Anastasia begged her wolf, who was acting out of her own wits today.
“No. I won’t return until I teach this scum a lesson,” Dione said, more like snarled, Carl’s body trembling with fear.

The splashes of Carl’s blood tainted the wolf’s fur, and Anastasia looked at the scene in horror, frozen in her place.
Just one slash. That’s all her wolf needed to end a life.
That’s what her wolf wanted. She should’ve known something like this would happen when Dione tried to smell blood using her nose.
Anastasia looked at the deep wounds on Carl’s body that were still oozing blood before looking at her wolf’s paws. Slowly, her gaze shifted to her body.
The hell she did! How was she going to clean this mess now? And she wasn’t talking about this dead body. He wasn’t just some usual rogue! He was the second–hand man of the rogue head.
The man, who had captured Carl, felt the presence of another powerful wolf in the area and rushed to the room to ensure Anastasia wasn’t in any danger. However, when he saw the scene in front of him, he didn’t know how to react.
“What happened here?” He asked Anastasia, who changed back into her human form just a second ago.
She sat there with her face in her palms as she tried to figure out what she was going to do.
“I… I… “Anastasia tried hard to come up with an excuse, and the guy sighed.
“Seriously, girl. How many times will I have to tell you we don’t do dirty work here? Now, who will clean this all? Look at your blouse. As if the coffee stain wasn’t enough, and now you have blood stains?” The man asked, and Anastasia looked at herself awkwardly, her gaze flickering back to the dead body.
“Did you at least get the information you were looking for?” He asked

“You don’t look too surprised that I killed a person,” Anastasia asked, and the man shrugged.
“Well, blame me for already knowing something like this was about to happen. When you entered the area with that angry look and the coffee stain, I guessed someone bullied you. And naturally, you would want to take out your anger on something… or should I say someone?” The man’s gaze shifted to the dead body tied to the chair.
Anastasia looked around the dinky apartment before walking to the closet helplessly.
She pulled out a random clean shirt and sniffed it.
It smelt fresh.
“Hey! What the hell are you doing? This isn’t my room,” The man said, and Anastasia half turned to him.
“I am sure the person who lent you this apartment would rather have me take his shirt than walk out of this room with blood stains on my blouse and tell the entire neighborhood what I did here,” Anastasia said, and the man nodded.
She sounded reasonable to him.
“I got only half the information, but it’s better than nothing. I’ll figure out something to work on the lead,” Anastasia said before she took off her blouse, making the man immediately look away.
Since she was wearing a sports bra, she didn’t shy away from taking off her blouse before wearing the shirt.
She was about to throw the blouse in the dustbin when she sighed and stuffed the blouse in her bag. She will throw it somewhere in the drain, from where no one would reach her. She nodded at herself.
“Hey, are you guys –” Another man, the owner of the dinky apartment, walked inside, and Anastasia looked between the two.
“He is your brother?” Anastasia stated more than asking, and the man nodded.
“Wow. So why were you acting like you brought me to someone else’s house?” Anastasia asked.
“Are you guys serious? You have to talk about relationships and house at this time? What the hell is this?” The new boy asked, and Anastasia

She rushed out of the suburbs, running as fast as she could so that her sweat made up for the blood scent of that rogue on her body.
This shouldn’t have happened. If those guys even got as much as a single hint that she was behind Carl’s death, she could kiss her revenge plan goodbye, and they’d come for her instead.
As she was running deep in her thoughts, she didn’t even see where she was going until she bumped into someone.
“Damn!” Anastasia cussed, falling backwards.
She closed her eyes to feel the pain, but it never came as someone held. her hand at the last moment.
She opened one eye suspiciously to see who held her, and when her eyes. met with hot blazing hazel ones, she gulped, her heart skipping a beat.
“Alpha Kaiden,” she said in disbelief.
Kaiden observed the girl, who looked more shocked to see him as if she had something to hide, but he didn’t address it.
He mind–linked Terry to get the suburbs checked. Something was definitely up here that she wanted to hide.
“What are you doing here?” Alpha Kaiden asked, already knowing she’d cook up some lies.
“My office hours are over. I am not answerable to you anymore,” replied, stealing her gaze from him.

“For someone living in my territory without a permit, you have a lot of nerve to say that,” He didn’t let go of her hand as he practically pulled her all the way to where he parked his car.
“I will stop living in your territory. I’ll pack my bags and leave,” She was more eager to leave this place now than ever.
It won’t be long before the news of Carl’s death reaches the entire rogue circle, and the rogue head will come here himself.
As much as she needs to find him, she definitely doesn’t want to be at the receiving end of his wrath.
“Listen here, Anastasia. I have every right to kill you for almost trespassing on my territory, and no one’s going to ask me a second question about it. So you better watch your mouth when you are.

“Since my first mate turned out to be a bastard, I was on the hunt for my second mate,” Anastasia said, deliberately provoking Kaiden.
“What did you say?” Kaiden didn’t like the sound of her words.
“I said what I said. I was on the hunt for my second mate. Do you have a problem with that too?” Anastasia said as he turned her around forcefully.
“If you are trying to be funny here, let me tell you, you are not,” Kaiden grabbed her jaws, pinching her cheeks together, and she tried to smile through tears in her eyes.
She looked behind Kaiden, where the car in which that man and his brother were leaving with the dead body.
The plan indeed worked. She sighed in relief.
“I am not trying to be funny here, Alpha Kaiden,” Anastasia said, and he pushed her inside the car.
How dare she mention a mate when she knew he couldn’t have one? And how the hell, the only girl he could touch intimately, mention looking for another man? Kaiden raged with anger.
He didn’t say anything for the entire ride before they stopped in front of some farmhouse–like thing.
“Where is this place?” She asked.
“This is my second house,” he said.
“Didn’t you say you had an apartment? Why is it a house now?” She asked, more suspicious since this house was in the forest too.
“I changed my mind,” he answered in a calm tone.
Anastasia was suspicious.
For a monster as dangerous as Kaiden, it was almost strange for him to calm down so quickly. Or was it something else?
Could it be that he is planning her murder inside the house? Anastasia stopped in front of the car door, and Kaiden noticed it.

“Don’t worry. I have no intentions of killing you, just yet,” Kaiden said as if that was supposed to be the most assuring thing in the world.
She entered the house and looked at the ambience appreciatively. It was simple, modest and cool.
“It’s nice,” she whispered.
“I know. So how are you going to pay for your living here? A place like this should rent for around $1500 a month, right?” Kaiden asked before. taking out the water bottle from the refrigerator.
“Pay?” She looked at him, confused.
“Yes. A method in which you get to live in a space that doesn’t belong to you. I can clearly see that you don’t have the money for it,” He paused, raking his gaze up and down her body.
“Your body can work fine,” he smirked at her, and she felt embarrassed.
“Oh, are you getting red? You weren’t like this when you threw yourself at me and took my first kiss,” Kaiden said, and Anastasia looked away, unsure if she should just leave.
It was hard to decipher what was going on inside his head. This was the first time Anastasia was meeting a person, so hard to read, and she didn’t like a second of it.
“What do you want from me, Alpha Kaiden?” Anastasia asked.
“Explanation,” he said, slamming the water bottle on the counter.
“Explanation?” She asked, her throat going dry.
“Yes, explanation,” he said, his eyes changing to amber in a split second as he arrived right in front of her and grabbed her throat, pushing her to
the wall.
“Explanation of why I am sensing another strong rogue’s blood on you,” Kaiden said, his dark eyes looking at her hungrily, the kind of hunger where you take pleasure in seeing someone in pain.
“I… I don’t know what you are talking about –”
“You don’t?” Kaiden chuckled, a dark humourless chuckle before he placed his hand inside her bag and pulled out her blood–stained blouse, throwing it on the ground.

into the profiles of other rogues? Are you planning to hurt your alpha mate?” Kaiden asked, looking straight into her eyes.
Anastasia could see she was facing probably the most cunning person who didn’t even need 24 hours to unravel every truth about her.
She would have shied away from answering the question. She had many reasons to say no and save herself from whatever punishment Alpha Kiaden must’ve already decided in his mind, but she didn’t.
Her hands trembled under his touch, and she daringly placed her hand on his chest, taking him off guard as she gently pushed him away.
“If you have the right to hate all the witches and rogues because of what happened to you, I have all the right to hate all the alphas because of what happened to me too. So, to answer your question, yes, I am planning to hurt my alpha mate, and I’ll take just anyone’s help for it. I won’t let my mother’s death go in vain,” Anastasia answered truthfully.
There was no remorse or regret in her eyes, just plain sadness.
“You can’t. The council won’t allow it,” Kaiden said, much more calmly this time, his eyes softening when he saw tears brimming her eyes. “I can’t? Why can’t I? Just because he is the alpha of the pack, I can’t hurt him? And they have all the liabilities to hurt someone because of their position? What kind of twisted rules are these?” A rogue tear rolled down. her cheeks, all the frustration she had been bottling crashing her again. “Why are all the rules made against the weak? Do you have any idea what I went through at that time? What I went through when my mother committed suicide right in front of me?” Anastasia raised her voice, making him leave her neck, and she slid down the wall.
More tears started flowing down her face.
“For seven years, I gave up my life, working in the pack house, cafe, convenience store, and whatnot just to feed ourselves and give her the best treatment. I took all the bullying and smiled through all my pain just for her, and what happened in the end?” She hiccuped.
“She took her life and ended it like it was nothing in front of me just because my mate wanted me to be the pack slut. Do you know what kind of feeling that is?” Anastasia tried to wipe her tears that weren’t stopping.

He took a deep breath and sighed before sitting close to her and pulling her in for a hug.
She cried. She didn’t know if a hug was all she needed, but when he grabbed her hand like this and pulled her close, she couldn’t control her emotions any more.
Kaiden didn’t understand what he was doing. He leaned back on the wall as she curled up like a ball in his arms and cried, making him clench his fist around her back.
This was the first time he was letting a woman so close to him and to say she was something he dearly hated. He gritted his teeth..
