“Hey! Anastasia, how are you? I heard you got the top rank again. What use is it? It’s not like your broke ass can go to college,” The voice of her infamous bully came, and Anastasia shuddered in disgust as everyone started laughing at her.
“Even if I don’t go to college, I am still far better than someone who is still living off his father’s hard–earned money. The one who failed a class and doesn’t feel the shame when his peers are already ahead of him,” Anastasia said.
The smile on Grayson’s face was immediately stifled. Everyone in the pack knew how much he hates his father for some unknown reason that he didn’t tell anyone.
Everyone hooted at Anastasia’s choice of words, but she clenched her fists on her dress. It was annoying.
They were cheering for her only because her remarks and bully sessions are their personal soap opera.
Even if she got bullied from time to time, she knew to fight for herself.
Her time in the pack house as a maid and help in the café along with taking care of her mother and studies never gave her enough time for herself, but she still took out two hours to train herself.
To train herself physically so that she could learn to fight emotionally too. It was important to live in a world where almost around you loathes you for one reason or another and you only have your sick mother by your side.
“What does my father’s money have to do with you? I can waste or soak it in water for all I care. Wait. Aiya, are you jealous because I have a father whose money I can waste and you don’t?” Grayson asked.
Anastasia kept looking into his eyes for a few seconds before turning around.
Grayson could feel it. He hit the wrong nerve this time.
He wanted to apologize for going a bit too overboard but the chuckles from his friends stopped him from doing so.

Anastasia looked around, trying to locate Jackson.
“Did you see that? Kristina totally got the aloha wrapped around her. What are they doing in the music room alone?” She heard a few girls talking and giggling at some distance and took a glass of water before gulping it.

“Geez, do you have no brain? How can you drink water from an open bottle? It was probably spiked,” Grayson’s annoying voice reached her ears, and she hummed.
The voice of those girls echoed in her ears. Kristina was the daughter of the Beta of the pack. They were probably discussing things.
Anastasia sighed and stood from her place, walking in the direction where she heard Jackson might be.
As she neared the dark corridors, her heart started thumping strangely. It was weird. It was as if she knew something bad was about to happen. She paused in her steps. Contemplating if she should walk ahead and meet Jackson there.
However, as positive as she wanted to be, a part of her was afraid to.

Anastasia shook her head. The drink is probably messing with her head. There is no way Jackson would do anything that would hurt his mate. He was the alpha of the pack. His reputation was at stake.
She nodded at herself and forced a big smile on her face as she walked in long strides.
She reached the second floor and was about to turn around the corner when her feet froze on the floor.
“Aaaah, Jackson, be gentle. Someone will hear me,” the voice was hushed, but to Anastasia, it was loud and clear.
Her body trembled and she took a shaky breath and placed her hand on the wall to support herself.
She is imagining things. Yes. This is all because of this drink. This is all because of that annoying Grayson.

Anastasia nodded at herself.
“I don’t care. I can’t wait,” Jackson’s voice rippled through her heart. It felt like someone staked her heart with a blunt knife. The pain was
unbearable, and she fell to the ground.

Her friend still remembered her. A glint of hope appeared in Anastasia’s heart, and she looked up with tearful eyes.
She supported her body with her hand and was about to stand and walk when Jackson’s next words stopped her.
“If you cared so much about her. You wouldn’t be here, Kristina. I am not a fool,” Jackson’s voice was like a slap on Anastasia’s hope.

Hot tears spilled down her eyes and her throat felt clogged.
She wanted to consummate her mating with Jackson today, but it looks like her mate was too eager to find another woman for himself.
Why did he do that? He was her good friend. He knew her inside out. She saved herself all this time because she wanted her first to be her mate. Why couldn’t he wait for her? Was it also because he thinks she didn’t turn into her wolf? Was it because of her poverty?

The sound of bodies slamming into each other echoed in the hall, drumming inside Anastasia’s ears like a song filled with sorrow and poison.

She stood from her place and walked near the music room.
The sound of her heels clacking on the tiled floor must’ve reached the couple’s ears already. However, they were so lost in their sweet time that they didn’t bother to check who it was.
She looked at the door of the room with sorrowful eyes.

She has never thought that she would get the biggest trauma of her life in the same room.
With a deep shaky breath, she placed her hand on the knob and opened the door.

Everything became clear to Grayson, and he widened his eyes when he saw Anastasia running back upstairs toward the music room.
Anastasia opened the door with a slam right on time as Jackson pulled his pants up, and he raised his brows at her.
“Anastasia? What are you doing here?” Jackson asked, unbothered by his previous act.
Kristina had also pulled herself together, probably wiped herself clean with those music sheets that were now lying crumbled in the corner. “You were supposed to pick me, Jackson,” Anastasia started, and Jackson was about to answer when she spoke again.
“I thought you were busy with alpha duties, but I didn’t know you were busy f*cking a p*ssy,” Anastasia’s eyes turned red and Jackson raised his eyes, still unflinching.
“Why did you do that to me, Jackson?” Anastasia knew the answer to her questions already, but she still wanted to hear from him.
“It’s good if you know everything already. It will save me some explanation. Anastasia, you are good and everything, but I can’t accept you as my mate,” Jackson’s words came next, and Anastasia almost lost it, but thinking about her mother, she tried to keep her cool.

“Why? Do I even need a reason for it? What do you have to provide me? Are you the strongest female in the pack? Do you have money? Do you have a reputation? Heck, you don’t even have a wolf,” Jackson’s eyes were cold.
“I have a wolf” Anastasia spoke.
“What?” Jackson raised his brows.
“I have a wolf. Kristina had seen it too. Kristina, tell him that you have – Anastasia paused.
Right. If Kristina was on her side, Anastasia wouldn’t have been standing here justifying herself.
She felt helpless. Something, she needed something to protect her
mating bond. She needed it. Not only for herself but for her mother too. Being mated to the alpha of the pack will ultimately give good treatment to her mother.

Anastasia scratched her hand helplessly, looking at Kristina with so much emotions that Kristina felt her heart breaking.
They have been friends for 15 years. She knew exactly what Anastasia wast going mad over, and she was about to speak when Jackson started.
“First, you don’t have a wolf, Anastasia and even if you have, it’s probably smaller than the omega of the pack. Do you think I want such a weak mother for my future kids?” Jackson scoffed and walked out of the room. “How can you do that, Jackson? I am your mate. The one decided by the moon goddess herself,” Anastasia held his hand, the helplessness and panic, clear in her voice.

“Leave my hand!” Jackson jerked Anastasia’s hand so brutally that she stumbled back and fell from the railing.

The sound of something falling on the ground echoed and everyone stilled.
Grayson, who was about to rush to Anastasia looked at her fallen body in shock.
