Chapter 21
“Hello? Yes?” Anastasia said as she walked out of her cabin, walking toward the cafeteria of the company to get some strong coffee to get through the rest of the day.
It was only two hours into the job, and she already felt like she was being trampled on by some invisible force, not to mention Alpha Kaiden’s proximity was getting to her head now. She swore that those endless training sessions were far easier than this job.
“You were right, Ana,” the man said, and Anastasia stopped near the entrance of the cafeteria.
“I am always right about things. What exactly are you talking about? I was right about what?” Anastasia asked.
“About Alpha Kaiden calling us to know more about you. Dad received it a few minutes ago, and as you had predicted, he was indeed asking about your pack and stuff,” Derek, the council’s head’s son, said, and Anastasia smiled.
“And? What did you guys say?” Anastasia asked as she started walking towards the counter lady.
“Can I have my order today, please? One strong coffee,” Anastasia said, and the counter lady looked up from her work, her brows immediately turning into an ugly scowl.
What did this rogue think of herself? Just because she came with the alpha, does she think she is part of the pack now? The lady thought.
“Look, I don’t really care about what –” The counter lady paused when she looked behind her where their alpha, aka, boss, was walking inside the cafe. She gulped and nodded at Anastasia, making the latter raise her brows in surprise.
She was about to ask the counter lady what made her change her mind when Derek’s words caught her attention.
“What would we have said? We said we have no recollection of you. However, he was adamant in knowing about you, so we said a few bad things about you,” Derek said.
“Bad things? What exactly are we talking about when you say bad things?” She asked, and Derek sighed before telling
She didn’t say anything for a few seconds. She couldn’t believe the people she was doing so much for said all these things. And though she knew it was all because they wanted Alpha Kaiden to let her go, it still hurt because some part of it was indeed true.
“In our defense, we didn’t have any choice. You don’t know how dangerous Alpha Kaiden can be and how he dominates others. How did you get entangled in this mess in the first place? You are not the type to leave traces when working,” Derek asked as he sipped his tea, and Anastasia bit her lower lip.
“Sometimes a good heart can be problematic too,” She said.
“Well, as much as I knew your taste in men was kind of exotic and unique, I didn’t know you were into that kind of masculinity,” Derek joked, trying to know if she had fallen for Alpha Kaiden when she mentioned good heart.
“I am not into him. You know I will never date, especially someone as narcissistic as him.” Anastasia hissed.
“Well, we can change that if you want. So what if you are not into me? It can still be into you,” Alpha Kaiden whispered into her ears, and Anastasia, who was so lost in her conversation and had forgotten about her environment, widened her eyes.
“Alpha Kaiden,” Anastasia whispered, looking around with
embarrassment clear on her face, and he smiled, his face only a few inches away from hers.
“The one and only,” he smirked, his gaze flickering to her lips that she was biting nervously.
“What are you doing here?” Anastasia asked.
“We’ll talk about that later. Let’s see who you were talking to while bad–mouthing me and saying you will never fall for me, shall we?” Alpha Kaiden backed her into the counter and kept backing away before he grabbed her hand and pulled her close.
“Give me your phone, Sia,” His gaze was intense, his eyes looking like they were brewing hot lava, and Anastasia shook her head.
“That’s an intrusion of privacy, Alpha Kaiden. Don’t forget that you are not my alpha, Anastasia looked straight into his eyes.
“But I am your boss,”
“Which still doesn’t describe why I should give my phone to you,
Anastasia gritted her teeth as she quickly ended the call and tried to delete the number.
“Well, then I am left with one choice only,” Kaiden stepped closer to her until his abdomen was pressing into hers, his action making everyone in the hall gasp loudly as they widened their eyes at their alpha’s actions. This was the first time they saw their alpha’s body actually touching a female and him not getting angry and threatening to shred her pieces. They couldn’t take it, and to say that this female was a lowly scum. How can they agree with it?
Many girls scowled with jealousy coursing through their hearts. The other alphas of the pack go down with the females of their pack and sleep with almost everyone until he finds his mate, but they have been unlucky in this scenario. Their alpha never touched anyone, and it irked.
them.
As immoral as it sounded, they were ready to spread their legs for the alpha with one hope in mind that he might become happy with it and choose them to be the chosen luna of the pack.
So, seeing him standing so intimately with a girl that didn’t even belong to their pack or any pack, as a matter of fact, they couldn’t bear it.
Some people turned their gaze towards Tiffany, who looked like she was only seeing red before she stood from her place and left the canteen in an angry huff. It looked like she will have to call those rogues and get this bitch out of the way quicker than she had thought.
“What choice?” Anastasia asked.
“The choice of taking you off–guard like this –” Kaiden suddenly bent towards her, their faces only a few inches apart before he tilted his head and moved to her neck, freezing her in place.
“And snatch it,” Kaiden grabbed the phone from her hand.
“Hey! That’s cheating!” Anastasia snarled at him, and he looked down at her.
For an Alpha as strong as him, her snarl looked nothing more than an angry kitten showing her claws to him.
“Your order,” The counter lady said, and Anastasia grabbed her tray before going to a random empty table and placing her items there.
“A private number? Now who could it be?” Kaiden asked as he followed her before calling the number.
Since their father had called them for an emergency meeting to discuss. what happened in the Blue Moon pack, Derek had left his phone in the
room.
Thus, when Alpha Kaiden called, Draco, who had entered Derek’s room to get the file, saw the phone ringing and walked to it.
Seeing the familiar number, he smiled before picking up the call.
“Sup, evil bitch?” Draco said like he always addressed her, unknown about what was going on, and Kaiden raised his brows before looking at Anastasia.
