Chapter 45
“Alpha Kaiden, leave her hand. She is invited,” Draco immediately stepped forward, his eyes turning amber in an indication that his wolf was already. working and was ready to snap any second if Kaiden dared to do anything to
Anastasia.
Alpha Kaiden looked at Draco. He recognized this voice. This was the man whom Anastasia was talking to over the call when he had snatched it from her hands.
“Is that so?” Kaiden asked, a hint of mockery in his voice before he tilted his head as he gazed into Anastasia’s eyes, who were looking anywhere but at him. “You know, we usually steal gazes when we know we have done something wrong. What sin have you committed rogue?” Alpha Kaiden grabbed the base of her jaws instead, her puckered lips making him smirk as he forced her to look into hist
eyes.
“Well, let’s not spoil the party” Kaiden turned around and sat in the boss’s chair on the stage with an arrogant look on his face.
Timothy looked at the dangerous alpha before sighing.
“This commences the 33rd council
on the mic before taking a deep bro “et–up under my jurisdiction,” Timothy said
He wanted to announce Anastasia’s position immediately, but according to the rules, the announcement time was after the first dance and alpha meet where everyone interacted with each other.
The council head could only pray that no one annoys the girl too much before one of his sons loses it and retaliates.
“It’s time for the first dance,” Timothy said, and all the betas moved to the side of the rooms while the alphas stepped ahead with their Luna.
Kaiden looked at the girl who was sitting beside him, his brows quirking as he was finding it hard to figure her out.
When he saw the message that she was being summoned, he thought she was caught again and had to report to the council, but what he was seeing here was completely different from what he had thought.
She really amazed him this time.
“Asia, Kaiden heard Derek’s voice as he stood in front of Anastasia with his hand extended out,
and he noticed how even Draco came before extending his hand for
her.
Kaiden narrowed his gaze, trying to understand the situation.
He saw the girl smiling at them and was about to place her hands in theirs when Kaiden held her hand instead.
“Pardon me, I came without a partner. I hope you won’t mind me taking her for
the dance,” Kaiden smirked at her wide eyes as he pulled her down the stage to the
center.
“Shall we begin?” He asked, and without waiting for her answer, he twirled her and pulled her close with a jerk, making her back hit his chest.
“What are you really trying to do? I didn’t even say yes,” Anastasia looked at him horrified, and Kaiden smirked.
“I am done with the questions and answers phase. I tried being polite, but it didn’t work, so I’ll just have my way,” he twirled her so that her face was only a couple of inches away from his before he bent so that his lips were almost near her ears.
“I told you. You are mine,” Kaiden whispered in her ears, and even with the loud music, his voice was loud and clear in her ears, making her heartbeat pick its pace again. His cold breath fanned her skin like ice falling on a hot plate, melting immediately.
“By the way, did I tell you that you look enchanting tonight? Makes me want to abduct you, pick you up, slam you on the wall, and release my monster on you as we take you relentlessly until you pass out from moaning our name,” Kaiden whispered when he noticed he wasn’t saying anything, making her gulp as she tried to distance herself.
“Kaiden, stop it,” Anastasia whispered, and Kaiden raised his brows.
“Kaiden? No Alpha anymore? Where are your manners, Sia? And why does it make me want to make you scream this name now?” He pulled her even closer, her chest practically pressed on his, and while to everyone it looked like the alpha was tormenting and torturing the girl, only Anastasia knew what kind of torture it
was.
“Don’t make a scene. I am not your regular rogue here,” Anastasia hissed, and Kaiden smirked.
“I can see that, baby. That you are not a regular rogue here, and I fucking hate every second of every eye that is on you. So don’t test my patience right now at least,” he took a deep whiff of her scent before he placed his lips on the base of her neck so softly that it didn’t even look like he touched it, but he did, and it was enough for Anastasia to turn into a puddle.
“Kaid –”
“Let me fuck you tonight,” Kaiden said, more like begged, and Anastasia’s heart skipped a beat.
What kind of lewd question was this?
“Are you going to treat me like a wh-
“Complete that sentence, and I assure you that you won’t be able to stand for a month,” Kaiden rumbled lowly in her ears, wanting nothing more than to just take her away from here.
“If you don’t like it, let me rephrase it. Let me make love to you. It will be sweet, I
promise. I won’t force myself on you apologize apologize in advance because 1 would probably take you on like a beast and ravage you uncontrollably, but I swear I won’t hurt you, out of bed, I mean,” Kaiden said, and Anastasia sighed. She was about to answer him when the music suddenly stopped, and she distanced herself from him, both of their gazes turning back to neutral as if the sexual tension earlier was nothing but a joke.
She couldn’t figure him out. What were his real emotions? What exactly did he want from her? Was he a good person, or was he a bad person? Or was he a bad person who was trying to be good for her? Or was he a bad person who turned bad because of what happened to him, and all he wanted was love?
“Sir,” Anastasia heard Logan’s voice, and she turned to the guy, who nodded at her in acknowledgment, making her smile.
“Well, so you are not entirely expressionless. You know how to smile at my subordinate but not at me? That strangely makes me feel bad,” Kaiden said to her before his eyes turned even colder when he looked at Logan.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Sir, it’s about the rogues that were found snooping around the east regions of the pack,” Logan said.
Kaiden looked at Anastasia before humming as they started walking towards some distance to discuss it.
Anastasia rolled her eyes. “If they really wanted to talk, they could’ve used the mind link. What was that all about?”
She turned around and was about to leave to go to Draco so that she wouldn’t feel alone when someone held her hand, her heart drumming in her chest painfully.
This familiar touch… Anastasia’s hand trembled, and she gulped.
“Hello, darling,” she heard.
“Aren’t you going to turn? Well that makes me sad,” Jackson said, and Anastasia turned to look at her ex–mate, the look of disdain immediately appearing in her
eyes
when she noticed his other hand in Kristina’s hands.
Her gaze flickered to the two of them before it settled on Jackson.
“Jackson,” she said, and the latter raised his brows.
“Who are you to call me by my first name? Where is the respect? Where are the manners? Do you really think you deserve to call me by my name just because you got invited by the council?” Jackson asked, and Anastasia squared her jaws. What is with people asking her about her manners today? As if they are the most. mannered people in the world.
“By the way, I heard your screams earlier. Now, I would’ve thought that you were wailing around and selling your body if not for the pain in them. So, who made you cry like that?” Jackson asked.
Dione didn’t like the tone Jackson was using on her human counterpart, and she scratched her head space, making Anastasia sigh.
‘Don’t! I will handle it the way you want,’ Anastasia said to her wolf to calm her down before s
her gaze to Kristina momentarily and then darting her gaze back to Jackson.
“Why does that matter to you? Be careful, Alpha Jackson, people might think you actually care about me. I mean, who am I? Your mate?” Anastasia stepped ahead. Jackson raised his brows at her sudden confidence, just like how it picked when. she was moving between all those Alphas. He wouldn’t lie. He hadn’t expected their first meeting after rejection would be here out of all the places, and she would be treated so respectfully.
Why was the council treating Anastasia like this? It wasn’t hidden that the council helps those people who are thrown out of their pack and comes to them for help, but Anastasia doesn’t look like the person who would bow down to them for help, so why? And even if it was a help, bringing her to the council annual meet was like declaring she was almost equivalent to the alphas.
“Don’t get me wrong, darling, I am indeed worried about you. I was so shocked, like who could be the one making my ex–mate cry? It hurt me. I really thought that I had the exclusive right to make you cry,”
Jackson smirked before he stepped forward, wanting to see the same hint of fear and anger that he once saw, but when he saw nothing more than nonchalance, he narrowed his brows.
“I am now in the top three alphas of the nation,” Jackson said, unsure why he added that.
“I know,” she smiled, her smile genuine, and Jackson felt his hand quivering. Kristina could see that Jackson’s gaze was faltering, and she bit her lips.
“Of course, it was spread all over the news,” Jackson scoffed in arrogance.
“I know. I congratulate you. Didn’t you get my gift?” Anastasia asked with a creepy smile, and Jackson paused.
A congratulatory gift? What was she talking about? Why would she congratulate him? After he hurt her so much, what was that gift? Why didn’t he receive it?
“You did?” Jackson quirked his brows, and Anastasia stepped ahead once again. until she was face to face with her ex–mate.
She deliberately raked her gaze on his entire face, stopping at his lips for a few seconds before she gazed back into his eyes.
“Yes, didn’t you receive it? I was told that not only did you receive it, but you were quite happy with it. You had the best expressions the entire night when you saw it,” Anastasia smiled before she removed his hand from her elbow.
“That… don’t tell me, that skull was sent by you?” Jackson asked, and Anastasia placed her hand on his chest.
“Bingo, she smiled sweetly.
“You bitch! How dare you –”
“Uh Huh… see? You still have the most expressions when you talk to me. Don’t I make you come to life when you are with me? What is this? Should I make your fall in love with me?” Anastasia said, deliberately messing with Kristina, who was clearly losing her mind seeing her like this.
“Don’t cross your limits, Anastasia Thompson, Jackson said, and Anastasia smirked.
“Crossing my limits? Are you sure you are using the correct words here? Don’t forget I was the one who cast you aside. I was the one who rejected you. I am surprised how you walk around with your head held high even after being rejected by a rogue, but then. I remember, oh, he has a whore by his side to make up for it,” Anastasia smirked, her gaze fixated on Anastasia.
“You! How-
“Jackson, let’s just go. She is not worth it. Kristina pulled Jackson away.
“Don’t be so smug, Anastasia. You don’t know when I will hit you and how I will hit you. If I were you, I would hide in a hole and never come out,” Jackson warned. her before leaving with Kristina, making Anastasia smile back at him.
However, that smile faltered as soon as she turned to her right, where Alpha Kaiden was already looking at her with a dark gaze that promised nothing good. She quickly averted her gaze and walked to Derek, who was the closest to her to save herself some trouble.
