Alpha Kaiden stepped out of the cell to talk to his subordinate over the call when his phone rang.
“Has the report arrived? Did any of the humans testify anything?” He asked, and the man shook his head.
“They were all getting treated when our men reached there. They were quite traumatized and didn’t want to talk about it, so the doctor sent our men outside. Robert will go and talk to them now. I received his message that their basic treatment is done,” The man said, and he nodded.
“Okay. Till then let’s wait and interrogate the rude rogue,” He walked to the cell again.
The man walked inside her cell before looking at Logan, who nodded and bowed to him before leaving the cell, closing the triple security door behind him so they could have a little privacy like his sir wanted. “So, let’s begin our interrogation,” the man said, and Anastasia nodded.
“You don’t belong to this place. So what were you doing here in this city? What is your purpose for coming here, and what were you doing roaming the near regions of the pack when you know it’s off limits,” He asked, and Anastasia took a deep breath.
The blood on his clothes was scary. It was an indication that he was as merciless as his alpha and wouldn’t think twice before plunging a knife straight into her throat. However, she wasn’t surprised. That’s the least she should expect from the most merciless pack.
“I am here to look for a job. I don’t have anyone to rely on. Around six months ago, I completed my graduation, and I have been looking for a stable job ever since, trying to find a place where I would be able to stay for a longer duration,” Anastasia said half the truth, and the man who was observing only her eyes, hummed when he saw the honesty in them.
“Are you sure it wasn’t because you wanted to whore around and find someone rich to get down and extort money?” The man asked, his merciless words piercing her heart, and she gritted her teeth.

Even after so much pain, her eyes were neutral. It was quite impressive. “You have trained yourself quite well. Your eyes don’t give you away. How honest they look,” The man commented, and Anastasia smiled sadly. “Last night, I was trying to save myself from a broker who promised me a job in a prestigious company. My body isn’t cheap that anyone would come and grab it,” Anastasia tried to defend, and the man smirked at her choice of words.
“Is that so?” He asked, his gaze raking her body up and down before he grabbed her top in his fist, and with a jerk, he yanked it back, the sound of the tearing fabric echoing in the cell.
Anastasia looked down at her exposed bra in horror, her heart drumming in her chest at what he just did.
“Shall I give it a try?” The man asked, looking straight into her eyes, his smile vanishing slowly.
He was surprised as his gaze moved to her heaving chest. They were quite big and a handful, to be honest.
However, that wasn’t the thing that grabbed his attention. It was the marks on her body that caught his attention.

I can do that a hundred times,” Anastasia answered the remaining part of the question, but the man just looked at her wound before looking back at her.

“Will you release me if I tell you the truth?” Anastasia asked with a sad sigh, and the man looked at her observantly before leaning back in his chair.

“Do I think I need to use them? Can you feel my wolf?” Anastasi looked at him, trying to be on her best behaviour so she didn’t end up provoking him, and he hummed in understanding.
“What about your pack? Were you born a rogue, or did you leave the pack?” He asked.
“Rejected the pack bond because of some difficult circumstances,”
“Parents?” He asked, and Anastasia scoffed at the word subconsciously.
The man’s eyes immediately darkened. No one dares to scoff at him or in front of him. Wasn’t this girl testing her luck a bit too much? Does she really not realize who she was sitting in front of? He thought, waiting for her answers.
“Dad was Gama of the
pack and died when I was eleven. Mom sliced her wrist six months ago. Or was it stabbing herself from the broken bottle? Maybe it was slicing her neck with the bottle. Or I think all of the above,” Anastasia said casually.
He looked at the girl who was acting so nonchalant about it, but the way her hands clenched around the chains as if she wanted to feel the physical pain to drown the emotional pain was a clear indication that she was just trying her best to appear calm and hide her pain.
“You must be eighteen already if you have graduated. So did you find your mate?” He asked, observing her eyes, and just like he had guessed, her eyes turned dark before returning to normal.
“I rejected him,” Anastasia said.
“You rejected your mate?”
Anastasia noticed the man’s eyes turning hard and dark.
“Yes, I rejected him. In fact, he was the alpha of the pack,” Anastasia
added, not wanting to hide any truth, in case he held that against her to keep her locked up.

She could feel the danger radiating off him and expected him to scoff. However, she wasn’t ready for his next words.
“Why? Because you wanted to whore around? Your insatiable p*ssy couldn’t be satisfied with one man. The sound of her chains colliding with the walls echoed in the cell as he grabbed her collar and yanked her forward with a harshness that made her skin burn again. The stench of blood and the heavy taste of that metallic liquid entered her mouth.
Though the action wasn’t that harsh altogether, it was the presence of the silver chains that made her feel the pain, and she gulped it.
The man in front of her growled in anger, making her shudder and close
her eyes.
“How dare a filthy whore like you touch my lips?” He raised his voice, and Anastasia couldn’t help but find the irony in the situation.
However, she didn’t say anything. She kept quiet.
“Do you have any idea how many people yearn to find their mate? And then there are people like you who throw the chance of being with your mate away like it’s nothing,” He said.
Anastasia’s eyes brimmed with tears that she blinked back quickly.
It hurt. Not the slap of the chains holding her down, but the words that slapped her feelings and heart.
However, she smiled at her miseries. Just like always because she knew there was no one to wipe her tears here or anywhere. Everyone in this world hated her, and she had to survive this hate while keeping her heart beating and humane.
“I know,” Anastasia said at the end, her voice barely a whisper as she smiled sadly.
“What are you smiling for? Do you think it’s funny?” Alpha Kaiden asked and was about to step forward and grab her hair when he received the intel.

Anastasia saw the man pausing and looking at her with a sigh before he grabbed the back of her neck and yanked her forward, making her gulp as she hoped for him to beat her again, but when she heard the sound of chains uncuffing, she looked at him with edginess.
“Though you are out of our suspicion in this human case, you are still under a heavy suspicion because of your lack of alibi about what you are doing in this city. According to the pack procedures, your apartment will be checked, and you will have to take a permit to stay in the pack from the Alpha until all the procedures are done,” the alpha said, clearly knowing she didn’t recognise his identity, and Anastasia nodded.
“Thank you for your understanding in the matter. You can check my apartment, and regarding the permit, I’ll leave the city today,” Anastasia stood with great difficulty as her ankles ached due to the burn marks. from the chains.
After half an hour of a quiet ride, Anastasia allowed the man and Logan into her apartment.
It was a basic dinky apartment. They started inspecting every single thing like a special task force, and Anastasia just stood at the door, letting them do whatever they wanted so they wouldn’t accuse her of hiding
something.
It’s not like she had that much stuff anyway. She didn’t have a fridge. There were no utensils either. She used to sleep on a second–hand mattress, which she got at 60% off from some site.
The only visible thing was a punching bag, her boxing gloves, a bag in the corner, a mattress in the middle, two cups to drink water or whatever she wanted because they reminded her of her mother. Some plastic bottles were in the corner, and the cabinet was full of packed food.
“Is this place fit for anyone’s living? I have seen the worst rogues living a better life,” Logan commented.
“The point is not to live a better life but to survive in the wild,” Anastasia answered, and the other man she had kissed in the club, looked at her observantly.
“Do you not have any money on you?” He asked, and Anastasia shrugged. “I am jobless and homeless. What do you expect?”

The man looked at the two files on the table that looked like her
information before looking at his beta.
“Let’s go,” he said, and Logan nodded before exiting to start the car for hist boss.
“By the way,” Anastasia said, stopping the man from leaving.

The hatred she had for her mate was visible in her eyes.
“So next time you are being judgemental about someone’s situation just because your alpha can’t have a mate, think twice. Not everyone is living a fairytale,” Anastasia smiled sadly before fake bowing to him.
“When you meet those humans, tell them I said thanks,” Anastasia added before closing the door.
As soon as she heard the sounds of the tire screeching, she fell back on her mattress with a haggard sigh.
She cried. It always happens with her. No matter if she tries to stay good and keep her goodwill, she always ends up in the mud.
She poured out all the humiliation she felt today before wiping her cheeks furiously. No. She couldn’t waste her time crying like this.
Anastasia gulped before standing.
She was about to go wash up when she heard the vibration of her phone, making her pull it out of her pocket.
She picked up the call and put the phone near her ear.
“So? What did you get?” She asked, keeping her voice in check.
“As you had asked us to do, with the help of that informant, Carl is captured. Do you want to come and have a look?” The man said, and Anastasia looked at her hands and legs that had the burn marks from the chains before humming.
“Do you think I will miss this kind of opportunity? We will talk to Carl, get the information and leave this place tonight. It’s not safe anymore,”

Anastasia ended the call and threw the phone on the mattress.
She was about to walk to the washroom to clean up when she heard a knock on her door.
A knock? On her door? Who could it be? Anastasia narrowed her eyes and turned off her phone before stuffing it under the mattress.
She creaked open the door, her brows raising.
“Yes? What is it?” She asked.
“About that job, I think we have a vacancy at our company. Start working tomorrow. I’ll arrange for your permit,” The man from earlier said.
Anastasia narrowed her eyes and opened the door completely, looking straight into his eyes, her pupils dilating when she remembered she had taken off her torn top earlier and was standing in her bra and jeans, then again, he saw this side of her already, didn’t he?
“But you don’t even know if I qualify –”
“You will be secretary. I’ll make you learn. This is the company’s name and card,” the man said, not even hiding how his eyes raked up and down her body.

She stood there in a daze as the man left.
This just made her realise how deep this mess was that she had gotten herself into. Anastasia looked at the card and turned on her phone.
“Hello? What is it?” The man on the other side asked.
“We will have to leave right now. The devil’s pack is onto me,” Anastasia murmured.
“What? How the hell did this happen? Just pack your bag and leave as. quickly as possible. I am coming,” The man said, and Anastasia hummed.
