Chapter 9
It didn’t take her long.
Within ten minutes, Anastasia was ready to leave this place for good.
She looked at the apartment one last time to ensure she left nothing behind and called the man.
“Hey, where are you?” Anastasia asked, hurriedly.
“I am sorry, Anastasia. This traffic is killing me. I don’t know how much time it will take,” the man said, and Anastasia looked at her watch before humming.
“That’s okay, K. Meet me at the bus stop and pick me up from there. I am leaving my apartment immediately. That man who is working directly under the alpha is too cunning. He can come back to see if I am not running away if he suspects anything,” Anastasia turned the doorknob.
She walked out of her apartment and locked it, placing the keys under the mat as she had informed the owner. Her gaze swept over the corridor and the area around before she took a deep breath.
Huh. Probably, it was a mistake coming here.
Going anywhere near that devil or his men was a clear no.
As soon as she left this city, she swore she wouldn’t be returning to this city ever again.
Meanwhile, at the same time, inside the posh Porsche car, the man sat with a distant cold smile on his face as he heard what the girl was doing. The girl didn’t even know how predictable she was.
His instincts were indeed right.
A voice inside him had been telling him that this mysterious rogue was thinking of running away from that place the first thing as soon as he exited the apartment.
It was the main reason he returned to the apartment to tell her about the job. But it looks like a job wasn’t enough for her to stop. Or was it because she was terribly traumatized?
Something about her was definitely off. And the most obvious thing was her wolf.
The way she asked if he could feel her wolf or not was as if no one could feel her wolf. But he did. He agreed at that time to not raise any

suspicions, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t see things.
There was some energy inside her, a weird hidden energy, and he needed to know all about that.
That’s why, he had placed that microphone near her apartment’s door to hear and know everything about whatever plans she had when he went back to offer the job.
“Where to, sir?” Logan asked when he looked at his boss, and the man looked up.
“Where do you think, Logan?” He asked.
“Pardon my mistake, sir. I will turn the car around to go near the bus stop,” Logan said, and the man hummed, ready to surprise the girl who thought she could trick the devil and get away with it.
“Is there something specific you are planning, sir?” Logan looked in the rearview mirror to look at his alpha.
“Specific?”
“She is the only one, sir,” Logan pointed out the fact that had been bugging Alpha Kaiden ever since, and the latter hummed.
Right. How could he overlook it? She was the only one so far who had been able to find a cure for his jinx. The only woman who had been able to touch him intimately by kissing his lips without him turning into his beast mode, and it was enough of a big reason for him to keep her by his side.
And that was exactly what he was planning

“Hello? How far are you from the bus stop?” Anastasia asked again, feeling edgy.
She didn’t know why, but she was having this weird feeling that something was about to go against their plans, making her feel even more anxious than ever before.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes,” the man said, and Anastasia hummed.
Seeing a car approaching the bus stop after a few seconds, Anastasial narrowed her eyes.
Didn’t he say five minutes?
She waited for someone to get out of the car, but when no one did, she walked to the car in small strides. Maybe he wanted to say a few seconds.

Anastasia sighed and walked to the window of the driver’s room, making Logan look at the man sitting in the back seat.
“Sir?” He asked and was about to roll down the window at his boss’s instruction when they heard a beeping sound.
Beep! Beep!
Anastasia heard a car honk loudly, and she turned to look behind the car.
She narrowed her brows, her pupils dilating when she noticed the man she was talking to, waving at her.
Her entire body froze. Her hand, which was about to knock on the window, froze in the air.
If the person she was talking to was in that car, then who was in this car? Why were they waiting for her? No, what the hell was she thinking? They weren’t waiting for her. She must leave now. Anastasia was about to turn when she saw the windows rolling down.
Her gaze met with hot blazing hazel ones, and she gulped. “Miss Anastasia, what a pleasant surprise?! What are you doing near the bus stop? I hope you weren’t planning on running away. You look like one, but you are not that big of a fool to go against the devil. Right? I mean, who knows if he is rendered speechless and becomes angry and contacts the council? It will be a bit tough for you,” Logan asked.
Anastasia gritted her teeth.
She looked at the car that would take her to freedom and was only a couple of steps away, and her hands fisted on her jeans.
She wanted to walk to it, sit inside and never look back, but she also knew if she stepped away from this car tonight, this man might get offended. and might try to hurt her friend too, which is the last thing she wanted.
“I wasn’t running away,” Anastasia said with a deep sigh. Her hands. clenched as she looked at the resolute blazing hazel eyes, looking at her so observantly.
They both knew what was the truth, but none of them tried to address it anymore. Alpha Kaiden wanted to catch her before she ran away, and now that he had done it, he knew not to trust her to go back to her apartment.
If he wanted to keep her under supervision, he needed to do something

about her residence first, somewhere close to the company and pack.
“Get inside the car, or do you want me to get out of the car and pull you back myself?” Alpha Kaiden quirked his brows.
She opened the front passenger seat’s door dejectedly and was about to sit when the man spoke again.
“Are you already getting into the role? There is still some time until I give you the secretary role. Sit in the back,” Alpha Kaiden smirked when he noticed how the girl was barely controlling her anger, making him smile
even more.
Teasing her would definitely be fun.
“You will stay here in the meantime until we find a good place for you to live,” Alpha Kaiden said.
Everyone who was living in the small cottage–like thing walked out of their rooms to see who Logan and the alpha brought with them. Their gaze raked the girl up and down, and though she was an indescribable beauty, anyone could see she was poor.
They looked at Logan for answers, who just looked at their boss with an expressionless face.
Anastasia didn’t want to do this, but now that they have come this far, it looks like she
wasn’t left with any choice. She will have to take this risk in her life if she wants to get out of this invisible prison that they were putting her into in the name of providing her with a job.
“Can I meet your alpha before that? I don’t want to live anywhere near his property or in any place that he calls his‘ without telling him this myself. What if you leave me here, and he comes later and tears me apart? Who knows what kind of monster he is,” Anastasia said in a neutral tone, and everyone around her gasped.
She just didn’t call their alpha a monster right in front of them, did she?
They wanted to react and teach Anastasia a lesson, but then again, why Logan and their alpha were bearing with this girl in the first place?
Who was this girl? Where did she come from? And why the hell was she not thrown into prison for using that kind of language? Everyone waited. to see what would happen next and their sir’s explanation regarding the
matter.
“Monster?” The man asked, and Anastasia hummed.

“He is known as a devil. As much as I am a fan of morally grey men in fiction books, I would never want to meet that kind of psycho and –” Anastasia couldn’t complete her sentence as the man in front of her smirked at her.
Anastasia took a step back when she felt the same murderous vibes that were enough to send a shiver down her spine.
“The monster you said? Do you want to meet the monster? The one who can tear you apart? Well, he is standing right in front of you. I am Alpha Kaiden,” the man in front of her said, grabbing her jaws and making her widen her eyes.
He was Alpha Kiaden? No wonder she felt that kind of incredulous suppression from him.
“Why didn’t you say anything earlier?” Anastasia asked, unsure if she really wanted to hear the answer.
“Why? You would’ve dropped to your knees and begged me to save your life?” Alpha Kaiden asked, smug.
“I would’ve run away,” Anastasia said before she paused.
“Wait. That night –” Anastasia widened her eyes when she realized that she had a make–out session with the named devil of the werewolf community, the devil who is cursed to not have his mate.
Damn it! She said in her head before gulping..
“I dare you to say a word about it, and I think I would love to show you a demo of why I am called a devil,” Alpha Kaiden slammed her into the wall, his body pressing hot against her, and she gulped.
Everyone gasped at the sight once again. Was their alpha really touching a female? After all that time of him not being able to find a –
Was that why this girl was brought here? Hundreds of questions ran through their mind.
“What is your purpose for bringing me here? I am sure you know who I am. I wasn’t at fault, either. You didn’t find anything suspicious from me, and I was leaving the place in peace without causing any problems then
“So you were indeed leaving,” Alpha Kaiden’s words made her pause.
Their proximity, it was distracting to her for her to think about anything else.
“Sasha will show you to the vacant room. Be ready to join the company

at 9. Since tomorrow will be your first day, Logan will drive you to work. He will tell you everything. I hate trouble and people who invite useless. trouble. So behave unless you want to kiss your life goodbye,” Alpha Kaiden raked his eyes all over her face one more time, his gaze stopping at her eyes before he sighed and stepped back.
“I want no mistakes regarding anything. And yes, don’t think of running. away. I am an Alpha who loves to hunt, and I can’t promise that I will be good after I hunt you down,” he warned before he turned around and left.
Anastasia’s gaze met with Logan, who sighed and shook his head before leaving.
She looked down at her feet, finally taking a deep breath that she didn’t. know she was holding.
How the hell did things change like that?
‘Well, we now have a good place to live in, no?‘ Anastasia’s wolf said, and she gritted her teeth.
‘So after getting me into trouble, only now you’ve got the time to wake up from your deep slumber and comment on it. What a b*tch,’ Anastasia. scoffed inside her mind before she looked at the group of people who were looking at her as if she was some kind of an alien.
“Let me take you to your room,” Sasha said, and though her tone was. neutral, Anastasia could sense the animosity in her eyes and vibes.
Of course. What could she expect from the pack members of the devil? They were supposed to be cranky like their alpha.
Then again, has any pack liked her?
Anastasia followed the woman and entered the so–called room before taking a deep breath.
“This is your room until the alpha says so. The breakfast will be served at 7,” the girl left, slamming the door, and Anastasia sighed before locking the door.
She looked around, checking everything properly to ensure there were no security cameras. Once she ensured she was safe, she pulled out her phone and dialled the same number.
“Hello?”
“Are you okay? What the heck was all that?” The man asked, and Anastasia took a deep breath.

As if she knew what was all that.
“The alpha wants me to work in his company as his secretary,” She replied the only thing she knew.
“And why would he want that?” The man asked, and Anastasia shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ll meet you tomorrow for further discussions. Just be safe in the meantime and keep that man under your custody,” Anastasia said, and the man huffed.
“Girl, not me. You need to take care of yourself. Just don’t get on his bad side,” the man said, and Anastasia hummed before ending the call, unaware of the fact that the alpha was standing right outside her window hearing her conversation very well.
Once he saw she ended the call, he jumped down and left, making Logan thin his lips.
