Katerina:
I cried as I sat on the front porch, getting lost in my thoughts at the fact that I was nothing but a second choice. It wasn’t like I had anticipated that I would be more, I knew that I was nothing but a wife on paper to the man, but the last thing I expected was for him to treat me like I was nothing but some whore who deserved to be put on the side while another woman shared his bed.
Judging by the way that he was treating me, I was feeling more like some mistress instead of his wife, and now that he had gotten into an argument with her, he was searching for me. When in reality, it was ME who was the man’s wife.
The fact that Nikolay simply wanted to be with me because he was dumped by the woman who he loved was something that I couldn’t get out of my mind. Especially since it was pouring outside, and the fact that I didn’t have a car that I could use freely didn’t make things any better; therefore, I was stuck with these thoughts, playing over, and over, and over again in my head with each passing second as it went on. I knew that I could theoretically afford paying for a cab, but I didn’t want to risk needing the money for any emergency case later and not having anything to support myself with. I still didn’t know how long w were staying, nor did I know whether or not I would be getting any shares of the company now that I was a married woman. My parents never discussed that part with me, simply claiming that I would be a woman with my own house who was no longer tied to the family in any way, and that was something that concerned me considering that I was now left alone, depending on a man who didn’t want anything from me.
The house’s door opened, revealing Nikolay who didn’t move for a few seconds. I could see his shadow in front of me, towering over my body as he stood behind me, and putting a hand on my shoulder, I flinched as I tried moving away from his touch.
“I thought you went out.”

“You should be thankful for the fact that you are even getting this.
“Why? Who the fuck do you think you are for me to be thankful that I am getting anything? You should mean nothing to me, and I nothing
to you. It stays there. Our marriage, will go as planned, being the deal that it is. Should a day come when the two of us are to have a child or whatever it is the fate that we would be living through, I am to submit and just say fine.” I said, snapping at him.

Nikolay lowered his hands to my waist, squeezing it gently as he ran his fingers over it.
