“Ma’am, doctor Andrea would like to see you now…” if words could kill someone as they grew nervous. It was this sentence which has been playing in my head throughout the wait.

“Hello, can I ask what has brought you here for the day?” He asked me once I entered the office. “When I heard who called for me, I knew instantly that I was having a special guest. So, how about we take a seat and you tell me what you are going through.
“She says that she is pregnant, and I want to make sure how the baby is doing. I also want to run a DNA test to ensure the chromosome level and to see whether or not he had his father’s genes hitting. You know, the last thing I need is a sick child.”
“You can rest assured, your grandchild would be fine, Ma’am, but for now, I want you to sit on this bed and raise your shirt.” I sat on the hospital bed, watching as the doctor put ointment on my stomach before he ran a stick on my stomach after rubbing the gel. Slowly searching around my womb for the baby. Despite knowing that I was proud of this, I still couldn’t help. the regret that consumed me when Katerina found out about this. The woman had nothing to do with this, and yet, she was the one who was going to fall as a victim.

“If the baby is not here, and it is a false alarm, I will like to apologize…”
“There is the baby.” Dr. Andrea said, nodding at the screen. My heart raced, and my cheeks reddened at the fact that I was getting to see my baby for the first time.

around him all played in my head, making my heart swell. The way he would tickle me and tell me that I would be a great mom even if I doubted my love for myself let alone a child.
The man was truly my first love and to know about something like this, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat overwhelmed.
The day we spent together played in my head as I recalled how he reacted when his mom called him. The anger that he felt, the pain even that could see in his eyes as he was called to leave me in the hotel room that he rented for me.
“Is everything alright?”
“I am not sure. She said we’ll discuss things when I’m home. We’ll see what she has in mind.” He said, pulling out of me in the middle of our love making. The day we created our baby, proving our love for one another. The little token that the two of us got. “The hotel room is yours to stay in. you know that I don’t have to tell you that; but it is a reminder.
“I still can’t believe that you rented a whole restaurant for me before closing the hotel for my sake.” I said and he chuckled. Little did I know that it was the last time the two of us would be really lovers. Little did I know that my whole life would turn upside down with him. Little did I know that I would be forced to find myself challenging a woman for my love toward him. It was something that killed me and would be my
greatest regret.

“I would do that and much more, baby girl. Just let me clear things up with this marriage thing, and the two of us would have the future that we’ve always planned for.” I knew that day that I saw his honesty in his eyes and that I read them it in his expression. But it all started with a simple post of them waking up together.
I knew that it was impossible, but seeing her smile, and his calm expression told me that something was wrong.
I called, I called, and I called. A hundred times. I sent messages, I cried. and I begged. But my final straw was his mother coming to me.

“The man has a wife, and he is not going to bother looking at you.” She said, looking at me. I shook my head at the woman who knew for fact that her son was with me. I knew that she was the one who sent him to Bali with her, but knowing Nikolay, I knew that he would never cheat on me.
It was something that the two of us agreed upon. He would marry her on paper only, and that was something that she was to learn soon. Nikolay would not leave me for a woman like her. It is something that the two of us have talked about.” I said, defending my love for the man who cheated on me. If only I would have listened to her and just dropped. It would have been easier for me as days went by. At least, I wouldn’t have to deal with all the public insults, lash out, and humiliation that I dealt with.
“Then go on ahead and see for yourself. You may think that they are contracted couples, but by time, away from the family, they would be attracted to each other to the point where you would be left behind. Only then, you will have no shoulder to cry on.
I stayed quiet, looking at the woman who gave me a sarcastic smile. Threatening me.

“Okay, now for the blood test, then you are free to go home. It will take fifteen minutes but you can rest through them, okay?“,
“Thank you.” I said, and he nodded, walking out, leaving us alone. “You never did tell me how you would react when you said that I was telling the truth. Anyhow, it doesn’t matter. I have seen my child and that is ALL that matters to me.”
“Sure, for now, I will give you the time to enjoy this. But even you would lose your spark. I will have you know that.”
“We will see about that. For now, I will enjoy it while it lasts…”
