Chapter 9
Katerina:
I ran my fingers through my hair, messing it up as I pretended to have just woken up.
Nikolay, who was laying in bed, shirtless might I add, watched me in silence.
I was wearing a white silk gown, cut sleeves, revealing as mall tattoo that I had on my right shoulder. It was one that I got in trouble for with my parents. A small heart with a little arrow to
cross it.
“Nice ink.” Nikolay said, breaking my train of thoughts. “How come I never saw it before?”
“Concealer at the wedding, and I don’t think that you ever saw me wearing anything that would have revealed it during the ‘engagement.” I said, looking at him through the mirror. He nodded in agreement, and turning to him, I walked toward the bed as I pulled my phone out of my purse. The post was going to be simple, me laying in his bed for a quick selfie before I got up to post it.
I walked toward him and laying on the bed beside him, he wrapped his arm around me. He looked at me as I smiled, posing for the picture, and taking it, I checked my smile to notice that he still had his eyes on me. My eyes widened in surprise as I saw him leaning in.
I put my hand on his chest as I turned my cheek to the right, making his lips meet my cheek before he pulled away, and getting up from bed. I walked toward the dresser as to post the picture. Nikolay’s eyes were fixed on me as I did, and looking at the caption, I couldn’t help but notice that my hands were shaking as I processed the fact that he was going to kiss me.
“What should I write here?” I asked, trying to distract myself.
“You first need to relax.” He said, getting up from bed. He walked toward me, and removed the phone from my hand, setting it aside, before pushing me back toward the dresser. My eyes widened in surprise as he placed his hands either side of me, caging me between him and the dresser. My heart raced, and I had to fight back my shaking hands as I looked at him leaning in. “Do you know how fucking tempting you are right now?”
He voice deepened as he looked me in the eye, and taking a deep breath, I had to fight back gulping as I feared what he was planning to do. “You have a woman in your life…”
“You are my wife.”
“You were with her…” Nikolay kissed me, stopping me from completing my sentence. My eyes widened in surprise, and wanting to pull away, I put my hand on his chest, pushing him away from me. He frowned as he took a step back.
“Weren’t you the one who was angry about the fact that the two of us were not a…”
“Do not, and I will say this once, do not think that you have any right to claim that I am wrong in rejecting touching you. You were with that woman, whoever she is, yesterday. Therefore, if anyone is to be angry here, it is me.” I said, getting down from the dresser. “I came here for this fucking post, but you mean nothing to me, and I nothing to you. My anger was toward the fact that YOU ruined my reputation, but it stays there.”

Chapter 9
“Who the fuck do you think you are to speak to me in such a sense?” He asked, glaring at me. Your are my wife…”
“Then learn to be a fucking husband.” I said, snapping at him. “The two of us were barely married a few hours and you had the audacity to go and kiss a different woman. Hell, you had her in your bedroom on the very same night…”
“How I raised an eyebrow at him and pointed at the love bite that was on his neck.
“I believe you thought that I was blind because I didn’t bother mentioning it, right? I fucking saw it before you left on the very next morning of our ‘marriage. I didn’t say a word about it because it does not concern me, but as a woman who thankfully has a spec of dignity, the last thing that I would accept is a man to take me for a fool. Therefore, not you, not your woman, or the fucking money and partnership that you THINK you’re offering me mean anything to me. I have my priorities, and my dignity is a priority to me; therefore, stay the fuck away from me, and I will be sure that I stay the fuck away from you. do you
understand me?”
I didn’t wait for the man to respond before walking out of the room. My heart raced, and I couldn’t help how broken I was feeling. My hands shook, and clenching my fists, I dug my nails in my palm. cutting it before I could stop myself. And it wasn’t until arms wrapped around me, stopping me, that I jumped as he took my hand in his.
“Let me go.”
“We just need to clean your cut, Katerina.” He said calmly. He turned me around, making me face him. The man had put a shirt on, covering himself as he took my hand in his and sighed.
“I do not need your help, and my nails digging in my palm are not things that should even concern you.” I said, glaring at him.
“I am aware, but this to apologize for my behavior.” He said, looking me in the eye. “You might not accept it, I am aware, and you are not to be blamed for it. But I am sorry for what I have caused you, whether emotional pain, or it is a reputational damage, I apologize.”
“Thank you for your apology, however, I do recommend that you use different acting classes because this game of ‘regret‘ that you tried playing will not work on me.” I said, taking a step back to head to the bedroom that he had told me to stay in when we arrived a few hours ago. “I will be in my room, tending to my duties before going out to get myself a few clothes. Oh, and thank you for the nightgown, I do hope that your girlfriend does not mind me wearing it…”
