Zoe knew what was on her friend’s mind.
Looking at Ella, she said with a tearful smile, “Why wouldn’t this be worth it? I’d do anything for you. So, make sure you recover well and fast!”
That brought tears to Ella’s eyes. Zoe hugged her tightly and
murmured, “You have no idea the days I’ve had. I thought I’d go mad!”
Ella was feeling extremely weak, but she summoned every ounce of strength left in her and hugged Zoe back.
Ella had some food before the doctor examined her.
Zoe decided to give her some space
Exiting Ella’s ward, she walked to the end of the long hallway and paused to look out the window at the bright, sunny day outside. Then, she let out a sigh of relief at last.
Ella woke up. She didn’t beat herself up. Instead, she was brave enough to carry on with her life. However, she couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat when she thought about the unborn baby. It was a hard pill to swallow. Ella might be able to get pregnant again somehow, but it’d never be the same baby anymore.
“Zoe!”
Out of nowhere, she heard Leslie calling out to her name. Turning around, she looked at him quietly for a while before asking, “What are you doing here?”
Waving some documents in his hand, he said gloomily, “I found out

that she woke up! So, I wanted to visit her and give her the ownership. transfer agreement of Imperial Hotel. Can I please meet her, Zoe?”
Raising her head slightly, she spent a long time composing herself before asking him, “Do you know how hard it was for her to fight her way back to me? If you feel guilty because of what you put her through, then you’ll stop messing with her! She can’t afford to get on your bad side, and she certainly can’t afford to rile up your wife!”
He apologized softly. “I just wanted to see her for a second and give this to her, Zoe!”
Instead of giving him an answer, she turned around quietly.
He murmured in response, “Thank you! Thank you, Zoe!”
“Don’t make her cry and anger her. Definitely don’t bring up the baby. Give her the agreement and get out of there! Remember, Leslie, you’re a married man now!”
The sun shone on him, but he couldn’t feel even the tiniest hint of warmth.
She was right! He was a married man!
He walked into Ella’s ward and saw that the doctor was just wrapping up the examination. Everything was good, but she would need to rest for another three months.
Ella thanked the doctor, but her peripheral vision caught Leslie standing at the door.
Her lips started trembling uncontrollably. She wanted to say
something, but no words came out of her mouth.
These doctors answered to the Schmidt family. So, they greeted him before leaving the scene.

Silence hung over the ward.
alking to the side of the bed, he lowered his Pity and guilt filled his eyes!
and looked at Ella.
Raising her head, Ella looked at him, her eyes heavy with tears. She said in a trembling voice, “Come here, Leslie. Let me touch you!”
Sobbing slightly, he nodded and crouched. The moment he was
within range, she sank her teeth into his neck, threatening to bite off a chunk of his meat. Her teeth were a mere centimeter from the artery on his neck.
However, Leslie didn’t push her away.
He could feel it as blood rolled down his neck and then his back, feeling warm and wet. His blood was probably not the only thing flowing down his neck. There were probably her tears too.
Holding her tightly, he apologized to her over and over.
“I’m sorry, Ella.”
That was all he managed to say. He had a lot on his mind, but he couldn’t utter any of it. It was like what Zoe said, he was a married man. If he really had Ella’s best interests at his heart, then he’d stop messing her up!
Initially, he thought he only had a casual fling with her and that it’d end cleanly. Little did he know it’d hurt them so deeply! He’d do anything to make it up to her if he could, but he would never have the chance to do it.
“I’m sorry, Ella! Forgive me!”
Blood dripped from her teeth.
