It was the middle of the night when he returned to his bedroom. Slipping off his shirt, he lay down behind her and leaned to her neck. He didn’t say anything. He just fooled around with her body, intent on waking her up. 

After a brief moment, Zoe’s breathing became rapid. 

He knew she was awake. Pressing his lips against her ear, he said softly, “Tell me you still love me!” 

Her eyes snapped open, but she couldn’t fulfill his request. She could be his wife, attend social events with him, and sleep with him. She could also take care of his daily needs, but she couldn’t go against her will and say that she loved him. 

Didn’t they merely strike a deal? 

Why did it matter if she loved him? 

Her long period of silence sank his heart. Then, he rolled her over and pinned her on the bed. Underneath the glow from the moonlight, he stared at her quietly, his eyes growing ever darker. 

“What’s the matter, Mason?” 

They locked gazes for a long time. Her voice was a little husky when she spoke, full of the charm of a mature lady. Raising her chest slowly, she tried to kiss him. 

However, he didn’t kiss her back. 

Realizing that he didn’t react to her, she leaned over, opened the drawer of the bedside table, and took out a box of condoms. Pressing her lips against his, she asked, “How about we do something fun if you can’t sleep?”

His eyes grew darker. 

She’d rather have sex with him than tell him she loved him. She wouldn’t even lie to him anymore. 

All of a sudden, he gripped her wrist and pinned them on the white. pillow. Zoe couldn’t help but puff her chest out. Trembling underneath him, she called out to him helplessly, “Mason!” 

Grinding against her slowly, there was a hint of seductive charm in his delicate brows. They were much more fully grown and attractive than when they were newlyweds. Looking at her, he flirted with her in his husky voice, “Do you want to do it? I’ll have sex with you right now if that’s what you want!” 

He knew her body very well and he was pleasing her, but he wasn’t going to let her reach climax. 

There was sweat on her nose as she panted gently. 

Then, he released her out of nowhere. Rolling to the side, he said nonchalantly, “Just go back to sleep!” 

Letting out a sigh of relief, she turned over to find the box of 

condoms in front of her. She proceeded to put it back into the drawer. 

The next thing she knew, he embraced her from behind. 

It was warm and he was hugging her tightly. 

She leaned on his chest and murmured, “Isn’t it working out well between us?” 

He remained quiet. 

After about ten minutes of silence she thought he wasn’t going to answer her. So, she let herself relax and got ready to sleep, but he suddenly spoke in a husky voice, “Am I asking too much?” 

She didn’t have an answer for him. 

What happened that night didn’t hurt their marriage. 

It was Sunday and Zoe’s first dessert spot, ‘Sweet Bliss Delights,’ was opening for business. Aside from her and Ella’s mutual friends, they also invited Mason’s business associates and their wives. The celebration for the opening ceremony was both lively and grand. 

Zoe entertained all of the guests and returned to Ella. 

“What a great first step!” They locked gazes and smiled at each other. 

Putting down her glass of champagne, she fiddled with Ella’s dress,” That looks better! Everyone’s going to pay you the respect a manager deserves when they see you in the future!” 

Ella straightened up. 

It was a special occasion. Zoe wore a white Chanel outfit while Ella wore black, elegant attire. She was very thankful for Zoe. She would’ve suffered much worse if it wasn’t for her. 

Looking at her exquisite face, Ella asked softly, “How’s life with him? Is he treating you well?” 

Zoe smiled in response. “It’s not bad at all! There’s nothing to worry about.” 

There were tears in Ella’s eyes. “I can never repay you, Zoe! Let me know if he does wrong by you. I’ll stand up for you!” 

Zoe responded, “I mean it, silly! I’m having a good time! I just wish you’d focus more on getting your own life in order!” 

They were chatting when a sales assistant went over and whispered, ” Mr. Mason is here, Ms. Zoe. I saw him and thought I’d let you know.” 

So, Mason was here…

said, “It’s almost time for the ceremony. I’m going to look for him!”
