Chapter 262

After a brief pause, Layla continued, “Ms. Lisa and Barbara aren’t aware that Ms. Zoe is pregnant! I think it’s better if you tell Ms. Lisa about it. Otherwise, she’ll keep trying to set you up with Ms. Gabriela! She had all but forgotten that you’re a married man. On top of that, you’re about to be a father soon!”

Mason felt better at what she said, and responded lightly, “Alright.”

Snuffing out the cigarette, he was about to climb the stairs when he saw a ball of white fur scampered down. It was Sherry. It had been a long time since the little puppy saw him and it missed him dearly, as was evidenced when it yapped at him repeatedly.

Bending down, he picked it up and carried it upstairs. Then, he bathed and dried it before letting run around in the bedroom.

Zoe, on the other hand, had taken a bath. Dressed in a silk sleeping gown, she was reading ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting.’ In fact, she was so engrossed in it that she didn’t even notice him walking in.

He started to unbutton his shirt and looked at the unperturbed expression on her face. She was very different from before. She was treating him quite coldly, but she didn’t shut him out completely. At the very least, she’d still talk to him from time to time.

He vaguely remembered about reading something in a book. If a lady stopped pestering her husband, that means she was done putting up with him because she was thoroughly disappointed.

Walking into the bathroom and turning on the hot shower, he

wondered if that was what was happening to Zoe. He walked out of the bathroom when he was done and realized that the fitting room was all cleaned up.

He was sure that no servant had come upstairs and into their bedroom.

That meant Zoe was the one who cleaned it up. The better she was at carrying out her job as a wife, the more worried he became. How he wished she’d pester him and start a fight with him. Anything was better than not giving a care about him.

Perhaps she was trying to avoid talking to him because she left his side of the night lamp on while she went ahead and slept.

Lying down behind her, he held her waist. She was pregnant. So, he wasn’t about to have sex with her even if he needed to do it badly.. However, that didn’t mean he couldn’t fondle her.

After some time, he pinned her down, unbuttoned her sleeping gown, lowered his head, and started to pleasure her. She was quite afraid of where this would go and started to show signs of resisting. Then, he leaned into her ear and murmured, “I’m just kissing you! It won’t hurt the baby.”

Perhaps he was trying to make it up to her. Throughout the entire process, he had done nothing but make her feel pleasure Zoe probably noticed it too because she didn’t resist it too much. Lying on her back, she raised her head, focused on the ceiling, and very calmly took the pleasures he was giving her

She was quiet throughout the experience. Perhaps too quiet.

It was never a good thing when a lady was too understanding and didn’t make any fuss. So, Mason kept a close watch on her. However, he tended to be more lenient when she wanted to go back to her parent’s place.

Spring was gone and Summer came,

Zoe was three months pregnant now. Slipping out of her dress, she

could see her belly bulging out a little. Mason had been quite persistent and pressed his ear on her belly to listen to the baby’s movements every night.

He no longer showed up at the club or met up with Gabriela. He didn’t even pay much attention to Lilith these days.

Much like a responsible father, he had kept her company, paid

attention to her daily needs, and went to the routine check-ups with her. He’d even looked after her dessert spots for her.

However, Zoe wasn’t moved at all.
