Mason’s grip on the steering tightened, but he maintained his composure when he said, “We can consider giving birth to our baby there, but I think you should slow down your career a little. After all, the early and late stages of pregnancy are kind of tough. I don’t want you to strain yourself, Zoe.”
She smiled faintly in response.
It was night and Mason was working in his study while Zoe had just finished taking a bath and applying her skincare in front of the makeup table. After that, she opened the drawer and looked at the important paperwork in there.
With Farley’s help, she managed to secure a permanent residency at Silvercrest. She’d put down her roots there once the passport was done and never returned to Brookesville.
She had thought long and hard about it. This was her only way out since Mason wasn’t going to let her go for a good while. If she used their baby as a reason to separate from him, then he was going to feel lonely when enough time passed.
After that, he’d fall back to his old ways and spend his time in clubs. That’d open up opportunities for him to be with other ladies. Some years later, he might even think about starting another family.
Then, she heard footsteps from the door and quickly tucked away the paperwork before closing the drawer. She was about to get up, but he was already standing by her side.
Hugging her from behind, he kissed the back of her ear and said in a husky voice, “What were you looking at?”
“Nothing! I was getting ready to sleep.”

Keeping his hold on her, he made her look in the mirror. He wasn’t going to let her move. He wanted her to watch as he pulled off the cincture from her sleeping gown and admired her own fair skin..
“Mason!” Her voice was trembling as she tried to close her sleeping
gown.
He sat by the bed, carried her over, and set her down on his lap. Running his hand over her belly tenderly, he thought to himself. Beneath the bulged belly was his own child.
His eyes lit up and said, “Looks like your belly is bigger!”
Lowering her eyes, she smiled faintly, “The baby’s growing in there!”
Then, he tucked her in and lay down next to her, his hands caressing her fondly. His eyes were glinting when he looked at her, “Have you thought about our baby’s name?”
She refused to let him touch her and turned to the other side.
Chucking, he hugged her from behind, leaned into her ear, and said tenderly, “I’ve thought about it for the past few nights. How about Yanni? It’s suitable for both boys and girls.”
Yanni….
He might be her least favorite person in the world now, but she found herself loving the name.
A smile crept up on her face.
He noticed it and couldn’t help but murmur in her ear in his husky voice, “It’s no easy feat trying to bring a smile to your face, Zoe.”
Instantly, that smile faded away…

Zoe went to sleep after making an appointment for tomorrow’s checkup.
The next morning, she heard the sound of raindrops and the pitter- patter they made on her window.
She was quite surprised that it rained this early!
Her pregnancy was making her want to sleep in. So, she decided to stay in the bed a little. Mason came over and wanted to help her put on some clothes. Not wanting to fool around with him, she decided she’d get up instead.
They were having a moment when Layla knocked on the bedroom door, “You have a guest, Mr. Mason.”
Frowning, he responded, somewhat annoyed, “I need to go to the hospital with Zoe. I’m not seeing anyone!”
Layla pondered on it a little, and said timidly, “It’s Ms. Gabriela. She said she needed to talk to you about something important and that she’s not leaving until she does!”
He looked at Zoe instinctively.
Straightening up her sleeping gown, she got off the bed on bare feet and walked toward the fitting room. Moments later, she said nonchalantly, “You should talk things through with her.”
