Gabriela was led into the quest room. Layla was moving quietly when she served her tea. She even spoke softly when she asked her to
enjoy her tea
Disheartened, Gabriela thought maybe the servants were being more thoughtful and moved carefully because their mistress was pregnant.
That was the last thing she had expected to happen!
Didn’t they have a bad relationship? So, why did Zoe get pregnant when they weren’t even remarried for that long?
The gentle drizzle continued to shower the manor outside, dampening her spirits even further.
At that moment, the door to the guest room was opened. She raised her eyes immediately and met Mason’s gaze.
He was just standing there, seemingly not interested in coming in. There was no longer a flirtatious look on his face, nor was there any hint of romance in his eyes. Instead, he looked more like a husband who stayed home and took care of his family!
Then, he closed the door. It was probably because he didn’t want the servants to overhear their conversation and, in turn, tell Zoe about it.

His Adam’s apple moved as he breathed out the smoke that blurred his dashing looks, but it did nothing to diminish his refined features.
The way he looked at her was cold and indifferent as if she meant nothing to him.
Her lips were trembling when she said, “Mason. Perhaps we…”
Flicking his cigarette, he smirked and said, “There’s nothing between us, Gabriela! We didn’t even have one-night stands with each other. At most, we were friends who shared drinks a couple of times.
“We were both a little light-headed and conversed with each other in the hallway when the paparazzi took pictures of us. That’s all! For that matter, I’m not even going to bring up who arranged for the picture to be taken.”
She was trembling now. It turned out Mason knew about the truth all along! He was aware of her little games. She was the one who hired. someone to take the pictures and distribute them.
However, he let her have her way. He misled her and made her think that she stood a chance at winning his heart. That was why she had dared challenge Zoe’s status as his wife.
In the end, she was nothing to him!
Like he said, they didn’t even have one-night stands with each other!
After all, why would he back himself to a corner? How could she possibly think they’d actually go somewhere? She was the only one who was committed to this so-called relationship in the first place. To him, she was nothing more than a tool he needed to rile up Zoe.
The moment Zoe got pregnant, he assumed his role as a responsible
husband!
She couldn’t believe she was so naive. Here she was, asking for an

Feeling extremely ashamed of herself, she barked, “You’re such a jerk,
Mason!”
Gabriela left.
Mason finished smoking the cigarette and opened the guestroom door. He was about to head upstairs when he realized Zoe was downstairs, having her breakfast in the dining hall.
She wore a loose, light pink dress. Owing to the pregnancy, she looked mild and the tenderness in her eyes was that of a lady who
was about to become a mother.
It stirred something in his heart.
Walking over to her, he poured her a glass of warm milk, leaned over, and kissed her by the side of her lips.
Zoe was visibly stunned, but she covered it up with a light smile quickly, “Are you done talking to Gabriela?”
Taking up the cup of coffee, he drank about half of it before looking at her and saying sternly, “I’ve never laid a finger on her, Zoe! Not even
once!”
The smile on her face faded.
The fact was, she wasn’t fazed by the fact that Gabriela came all the way to his manor and asked for an explanation from him.
It was nothing, compared to the tough times Lilith put her through. More to the point, Mason meant nothing to her.
She didn’t give a damn about how many ladies he had flirted with out
there.
