Chapter 266

“I trust you,” Zoe said.

Touching her face gently, he couldn’t resist touching her tender ears. It was her sensitive spot. This is where he’d nibble on every time he wanted to please her. Then, she’d wrap herself around him

affectionately.

It had been a long time since he had had any sex. His mind traveled back to the moments when they were pleasing each other. As a result, his voice was a little husky when he said, “I’ll pull the car around. Go ahead and ask Layla to get you a coat. It’s chilly out there.”

Then, he stood up and left. Zoe watched him as he walked away. He had always put some thoughts into the way he dressed.

Right now, he was wearing a deep gray shirt and a handmade suit over it. Looking at his back alone told her how elegant he was. It was no wonder why so many young ladies swooned over him.

Lowering her head, she ran her hands across her belly affectionately. She was pondering on the fact that it actually wasn’t that hard to

pretend to be a lovely couple with Mason.

Layla came downstairs, carrying Zoe’s scarf. Putting it on for her, she said, “Be wary of slippery floors, Ms. Zoe. You should wear the

skidproof shoes. Now that you’re pregnant, you have to watch out for these things.”

In response, Zoe smiled faintly and said, “Okay.”

Zoe hadn’t had a maternity record in Lockwood Hospital ever since

she was pregnant, but Mason transferred it on her behalf after he

came back from overseas.

Dr. Lincoln, the medical director who was a respected figure in the obstetrics field, was her doctor. Mason was right there when he was doing an ultrasound for her. The way he stared at the monitor reminded him of the look a lovely father would have.

Based on that, he had a pretty good idea about how important Zoe was to him. So, he said with a smile, “The baby’s doing well! Moreover, the head size was comparatively small, which suggests a smooth delivery.”

What he said hinted at the baby’s gender. Mason caught the subtext and beamed up. Crouching, he held her hands tenderly, his eyes were full of affection.

Pulling back the probe, Lincoln knew they needed some space and went out to do some paperwork.

Zoe tried to get up, but Mason held her down. Then, he wiped the ultrasound gel with some tissue and buttoned up her shirt. He couldn’t resist running his hands across her belly tenderly. He just couldn’t have enough of the bulged belly.

His eyes were full of affection when he looked at her and spoke softly, “Yanni is a girl! We’re going to be parents, Zoe.”

At that moment, her belly moved gently. She was only three months pregnant, but their baby was already moving in there.

Mason was very surprised. He was a reserved man, but he actually pressed his ears on her belly in the hospital, trying to listen to his baby’s movements. He looked so tender at that moment. The sight was enough to make any lady fall in love with him.

Lowering her gaze, she looked at his tender expression. Tears filled her eyes as she fell into deep thought.

She had much to regret in this marriage. She used to love him deeply and hated him intensely. At this moment, she felt indifferent about him. All she wanted was to part with him amicably.

They had been married for several years. They also had parted ways several times and found their way back to each other every time.

She knew all of his moves. So, she had decided she wouldn’t confront him directly. That’d be pointless. Instead, she’d tamp down her aggression and control her temper just so she could leave him without any complications.

It was just that her baby would have to grow up without a father.

Feeling sorry for-Yanni, she rubbed her belly softly. Then, his hands closed over hers. He proceeded to hug her and buried his dashing face in her neck. His breath was both warm and rapid. After a long time, he said ever so softly, “Will you forgive me, Zoe?”

She didn’t push him away.

They were trapped in a loveless marriage and there was no hope that it’d last. Needless to say, it gave rise to a lot of lies and deception.

It was fine.

She had gotten used to it.
