Zoe was experiencing intense pain all over her body. 

She couldn’t breathe and it felt as if she’d die in the next second, but she refused to go. She needed to think about Yanni! 

She had been pregnant for eight months now. Her baby still had yet to see the world. She might’ve hated Mason for being cold and unfeeling, but she loved her baby more than anything in the world. On top of it, she had anticipated giving birth to her little girl. She can’t just die here. 

She can’t die! It wasn’t an option! 

Breathing heavily seemed to help with the pain from the contraction. So, she raised her head and cried out for help with every ounce of energy in her body.

Alas. Nobody heard her cries for help. 

Fireworks continued to explode across the sky and the television downstairs continued to blare festive music. 

Zoe painstakingly crawled out of the bedroom and screamed.” Someone. Anyone. Save me. Save my baby.” 

The pool of blood trailed all the way from the bedroom door to the 

stairs. A huge volume of blood gushed out from between her legs and 

dripped on the elegant stairs.

The door to the delivery room swung open again and a doctor hastened out of it. 

Lisa shot up and asked immediately. “How’s it looking in there?” 

Taking off his mask, the doctor said, “We’ve transfused blood to Ms. Zoe, but it’s not looking good. Judging by her condition, we can’t perform a C-section on her, but she was too weak to go through a natural birth! You might have some tough choices to make, Ms. Lisa. The mother or the baby?” 

Lisa slumped onto the long bench listlessly. It didn’t matter if she disliked Zoe, she shouldn’t have been the one to make this choice. There was no way she could explain herself to Mason if something bad happened to either Zoe or Yanni 

However, it seemed she was the only person who could make that 

choice now. 

She remained quiet for a long time before pulling herself together and saying softly, “Save Mason’s baby.” 

A pair of hands strangled her as soon as she said it. 

Ella was choking her fiercely, her eyes were red with fury. Her voice was husky when she roared at Lisa, “Try saying that again. Try choosing the baby again! I’m going to kill you the moment you say it. In fact, I’ll kill you right this instant, you heartless monster!
