Having changed into a surgical gown, Ella went in to keep her company. Gripping her hand tightly, she said, “Hang in there, Zoe! Both you and Yanni are going to make it!”
The pain was so overwhelming she almost slipped out of consciousness, but she knew her friend was there with her.
She looked at her in silence as she thought to herself: Ella must’ve fought her way here.
Tears kept streaming from Zoe’s eyes. Ella wiped them away diligently and said, “The baby turned the other way. The doctor’s
figuring out a way to reposition it. Save your energy, Zoe. Let’s push Yanni out later. Okay? Mia’s here top. She’s right outside, waiting for you and the baby!”

Zoe felt a stiffness in her throat when she cried out in misery, “Dad!”
Ella cried as well, but she kept her grip on Zoe’s hands, comforting her and giving her strength. At last, the doctor managed to reposition Yanni among her mournful wails.
