Chapter 286
Turning around, Zoe looked at him quietly. After a brief moment, she said in a resigned tone, “Don’t bother! Noah has given up on his right to appeal! You said we’ll get divorced after our baby is born. All I want is Yanni. I don’t need anything else.”
The wind howled in the night.
She used to be in love with him madly, but none of the love remained now. She was all drained.
Mason spoke again, “Please forgive me, Zoe. I can’t just give up on our marriage. It’s my fault for being so harsh that day. I know Layla was the one who picked up the call from…”
However, she smiled miserably and cut him off. “Do you think an explanation is going to save our marriage, Mason?”
She and Noah lost their father that night. Then, she almost died as well as lost Yanni on the same night. There was nothing Mason could say to make up for all of that.
She wasn’t sure who to blame or hate for it. All she knew was that she didn’t want to see or talk to him.
Just as she started to leave, he came over, swooped her up, and put
her in the car.
Why would she let him have his way?
Hammering him, she asked him to let her go, but he held on to her tight. He was hugging her, burying his face in her neck, and
apologizing over and over again in a husky voice. He begged her to give him one more chance.
Then, she chomped on his shoulder hard and wouldn’t let go. Every

time he said ‘I’m sorry!’ she would chomp down harder.
What was the point?!
What use was his apology now? What was even the point for him to be apologizing?
Fresh blood dripped from her lips and stained his black shirt, but he didn’t care. Instead, he held onto her took off her coat, and felt
around her body along her spinal cord.
She was at least eleven pounds lighter.
“I’m sorry, but I’m taking you home.”
She didn’t want to go with him, so she started struggling hard. In the end, he held her cheeks and kissed her deeply.
The kiss was abysmal, he could taste blood and sense her broken heart as well as burning hatred.
Luke, who was in the driver’s seat, didn’t even dare to look at them.
Then, Mason held Zoe tight in his arms and ordered Luke to start driving. That was when Luke stepped on the pedal and drove back to
the manor.
Mason held her tightly all the way back. She was so thin that he could hear the crack of her bones whenever he tightened his grip..
Half an hour later, the black Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled into the
manor.
All the lights in the manor were lit and it looked as bright as it did in daylight.
Luke parked the car and got out of it to give them some space. It was dark in the car and Mason loosened his grip, but he didn’t release her.
Lowering his head, he looked at her and said affectionately, “Our

baby’s home. Don’t you want to see her? She’s adorable and she takes after both of us! She’s been sleeping by herself this whole time. I think she misses her mom.”
Zoe started shedding tears unexpectedly.
All mothers in the world have a soft spot for their children.
Opening the car door, he carried her out of the car and went upstairs.
It felt like a lifetime since she was last here when, in fact, she was merely here a few days ago, lying down in a pool of blood and crying out for help to no avail. No one could hear her and she was all alone.
Now that he had returned from overseas, he was begging to start over with her.
Such is the irony of life.
Every servant in the manor didn’t date make a peep. They were guilty, but Zoe didn’t blame them for anything. She shuffled to their bedroom on the floor and saw two private nurses looking after Yanni. They stood up immediately when they saw her coming in.
“Yanni had just fallen asleep! We’ll be next door if you need us, Mr. Mason. Ms. Zoe.”
