I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 289

Chapter 289

Mason gulped. He came back to his senses after a brief moment and sent the lactation specialist away.

By the time he went back to the bedroom, Zoe was already dressed. She had wrapped herself tightly, leaving no exposed flesh, and looked like she was ready to leave.

Underneath the crystal chandelier, he stared at her quietly, “Are you leaving?”

Instead of denying it, she said, “I have to attend to some matters. I’ll be back in a few days to look at Yanni. After that, I’ll be taking her away with me!”

The chandelier shone brightly above them, but Mason’s eyes turned red. He said, “Your husband and your baby are here. Where do you think you’re going, Zoe?”

What a way with words!

She didn’t intend to fight with him. She didn’t have the energy to. She merely stared at her miserably and asked him softly, “Do you still consider yourself my husband? Don’t you find that absurd? You seemed to have forgotten that you slapped me for Lilith’s sake. You also abandoned me for her when I needed your help.

“Can you smell the stench of blood in this manor, Mason? Blood was all over the place that night. Streams flowed out of my body and coursed through the stairs. Where were you then, my husband?

“I’ll tell you where you are. You were busy, feeling sorry for Lilith. All you could think about was her and no one else. You probably didn’t even consider that I was risking my life trying to give birth to Yanni!”

His face turned pale.

With trembling lips, she continued, “You kept telling me that you wanted a daughter and that you wanted to be a father. However, where were you when I was in labor? Where were you when she was struggling to make it out into this world?”

After that, she insisted on leaving, but Mason grabbed hold of her waist and pinned her to the bed.

They did everything in silence because, even though they were locked in heat debate, they still suppressed their voices just so they wouldn’t wake the baby.

Zoe couldn’t move at all. Then, he started to undress her. By the time she was wearing nothing but underwear, he was stunned by what he

saw.

She was wearing a sanitary pad. It was already filled with blood. There was so much that it even started seeping into her underwear and her fair legs.

He was aware that there would be discharge from women’s private parts after they gave birth. However, Zoe was discharging a large volume of blood. There was no way this was normal.

With trembling hands, he ran them across her body, inch by inch.

At the next moment, she slapped him in the face. She was weak, but the anger renewed her vigor and she slapped him so hard that his head swung to the side as the sound reverberated in the room.

Turning around slowly, he locked gazes with her reddened eyes.

He said softly, “I’m sorry.”

Then, he embraced her tightly. He was afraid that she’d just vanish and disappear from his life.

The night was quiet except for his panting and Yanni’s light breathing. The baby didn’t have a care in the world.

Zoe didn’t succeed in leaving the manor.

Taking off her clothes, he helped her get changed into a fresh

pajamas. He knew she wanted to leave, so he held her and buried his face in her neck.

“Don’t leave the manor unless you want to die. I’ll do everything on your behalf. Please, Zoe. Please think about our baby and let me make it up to you.”

Why would she agree to something like this?

So, she started struggling. She wanted to leave him. She was going to leave the manor, no matter what.

The next thing she knew, he jabbed a tranquilizer into her neck and emptied its contents into her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at him in disbelief.

Then, her body softened and she slumped onto the soft bed.

Mason felt so heartbroken when he saw her body twitching slightly. Leaning over, he kissed her and murmured, “Listen to me and get. some rest! We’ll resume this when I get back!”

She merely looked at him. There was hopelessness and a burning hatred in her eyes.

He knew that he hated him, but he also knew that she’d collapse if she continued to push her body, which was already on the brink. She might even lose her life.

Holding her weakened body, he murmured in sorrow, “Are you trying to punish

me or

Zoe?”
