Zoe woke up around noon.
The moment she opened her eyes, Yanni was in her arms. She was wearing a light pink onesie, sleeping soundly. An inexplicable joy rose in Zoe’s chest when she looked at her baby’s features.
A moment later, she felt warm tears building up in her eyes.
Then, Yanni woke up. At first, she cried a little. Then, she seemingly smelled her mother’s scent and started to wriggle towards her. She was still too young, though. So, she was having a problem doing that.
Zoe was still feeling weak, but she leaned over and moved to breastfeed her. It was all new to her, though, so she was a little clumsy when she tried to undo the clasp of her nursing bra.
Yanni could wait no longer and burst into tears, her face turning red.
Then, a warm hand undid the clasp for her. She could hear Mason’s voice when he spoke affectionately, “You’re still new to this. So, it might hurt a little!”
Still refusing to speak with him, she resorted to giving him a cold shoulder. Lowering her head, she held her baby closer. Out of pure instinct, Yanni found her breast and started sucking ravenously. It was a tiring effort, but it was well worth the trouble for the little one.
It felt a little painful, so she backed off slightly. However, Yanni latched onto her nipple again in no time.
Then, she started sucking like there was no tomorrow.

Yanni slept as soon as she was done feeding. Then, she jolted awake, held onto Zoe’s breast, starting sucking again. She finally fell asleep after repeating this several times.
Carrying his baby, he patted her back lightly to coax a burp out of her before putting her in the crib. He was very gentle when he did it, the way an affectionate father would do.
He said to Zoe, “Are you hungry? I’ll carry you to the restroom so you can freshen up yourself before grabbing a bite! The servants made you baked chicken breast. It’s what you need to reinvigorate your body.”
Zoe covered herself again. The temperature in the bedroom was adjusted to be as warm as it was in spring, but she was so weakened that it was still cold for her.
After he went downstairs, Zoe stood by the window and cast her gaze at the ground floor. The bodyguards were milling about, securing every corner of the manor.
She knew that Mason was trying to prevent her from escaping.
Lowering her head, she checked her phone and found that it didn’t have a signal. All of the phones in the manor were suspended as well. The manor had turned into a cage. She was confined here in the name of ‘love.’
Mason walked in with a tray of food. The first thing he saw was Zoe standing by the window. She was wearing a thick scarf, but it still
hung loosely on her. She was so thin.

Putting the tray of food on the small dining table, he said gently, “I know you’re not in a good mood, but you have to eat something. I hired a professional nutritionist for you. You’ll be fine in no time.”
She said softly without turning back, “Set me free!”
It pained him to hear that. Walking over, he hugged her from the back and carried her to the small dining table. He was about to say something when she threw the plate of baked chicken breast to the floor.
The servants spent a long time making it. Now, the gravies were spilled everywhere, including on his shirt. However, he wasn’t upset. Instead, he said affectionately, “Yanni’s sleeping. Can we not wake her up?”
Zoe couldn’t take it anymore. Shoving him aside, she walked toward the window. Her scrawny cheeks were devoid of colors.
At first, she pointed at the bodyguards downstairs. Then, she pointed at the spilled food on the floor and sneered, “You’re trying to keep me in this manor, Mason. Why should I play along with you? Something’s not right with you and I’m not going to be the one who fixes you!

“I can’t bear to see your face for even a second now!”
She started panting rapidly after she was done talking. She even coughed up a trace of blood. It was very likely she had anemia.
