I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 296

Chapter 296

All Mason succeeded in doing was hurting Zoe.

However, she refused to moan out of pain. Instead, she strained her eyes and focused on the chandelier hanging off the ceiling. She recalled that he ordered it from Inverleigh when things were still going well for them.

She loved it very much.

They’d be having sex back then and she could just raise her head and bask in its resplendence and extravagance while it swung gently. Now, however, it was blinding and chilling to look at.

They were hugging each other and he was trying hard to pleasure her. However, all she felt was a cold indifference. There was no joy or any tingling sensation when their flesh touched. All that remained was disdain and revulsion!

She started to tremble lightly. Then, she yelled out involuntarily when she couldn’t take it anymore. “It hurts… Mason…”

Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks.

Burying his face on her chest, he left his hand dangling on her thin waist. Their clothes were in a mess and both of them were panting intensely as if they were engaged in fisticuffs instead of kissing and caressing each other.

Holding her, he breathed heavily.

After a long time, he reached out and touched her lips gently. His voice was deep and husky when he said, “Yell if you’re in pain, Zoe, just like what you did now. Don’t give me the cold shoulder and avoid talking to me. Just tell me what you want me to do. I’ll do anything! I

can even support Mia financially or file an appeal for Noah’s case. Nothing’s off the table!”

A tear rolled off her cheeks.

After a brief moment, she lowered her gaze and looked at her proud husband confessing his feelings in such a humbling manner.

It used to be that he never had time to listen to her!

She tried to tell him she was pregnant, but he told her to save it for later. She told him the ‘Méditation’ vinyl was originally hers, it didn’t belong to Lilith. He told her to stop making things up. She even

begged him to stay with her and all she got was him saying all she ever did was ask for his help.

Now, she no longer wanted his help and yet he was the one who eagerly offered it, trying to win her affection.

Reaching out, she ran her fingers across his dashing face. He raised his eyes and looked into hers. There was no longer any affection or hatred in them, only misery.

Catching her hand, he held it tight. Then, he heard her saying absentmindedly, “Is it painful for you, Mason? I’m also in pain…”

She finally spoke to him.

Gripping her hands, he said lightly, “Yanni needs to go to the hospital for a routine check-up tomorrow. Why don’t we go together? She’s still so young. She loves it when you hold her!”

Although she didn’t answer him, but he knew she was willing to go.

The next morning, Mason took Zoe and Yanni to the hospital. Instead of asking Luke to drive them, he decided to take a black Land Rover from his garage.

He was leaning on the car, smoking, while he waited for them. Wisps of smoke lingered in the autumn morning air. Not long after, it scattered to the wind.

It only took him enough time to smoke a single cigarette before Zoe and Deborah, one of Yanni’s nannies, came out. She was carrying Yanni while Zoe walked behind her.

She wore a teddy coat, which was thick and preserves heat. It didn’t hurt that the brown color made her skin look fairer. She might be thin, but she looked petite in the coat. Nobody could tell he had just given birth to a baby.

He couldn’t tear his eyes away for a minute.

Snuffing out the cigarette, he opened the backseat door for Deborah. Just as Zoe was about to get in the backseat as well, he grabbed her arm and said softly, “You’re sitting next to me.”

After that, he closed the backseat door and opened the passenger side door instead. Zoe paused for a few seconds before getting into the car.

It was obvious that he was trying to get closer to her and coax a conversation out of her. However, she treated him like he was

nothing.

Deborah felt uneasy in the backseat. She was worried that Zoe was being too distant and that she’d push him away, straight into the arms of other ladies.

After all, Mason was a catch. A lot of ladies were eager to throw

themselves at him.

However, Zoe couldn’t care less about that. It had been a long since time she had given up on him and their marriage. All she wished now was that he couldn’t keep holding on and decided to give up. After

that, they’d both get their lives back!
