Chapter 307
415 NONUS
Mason didn’t feel the need to hide his intention. He proceeded to roll over and got up from the bed.
The moment he opened the door, cold air rushed in and disturbed Yanni, who started to moan in the crib. Zoe rose and patted her baby’s back, trying to put her back to sleep.
Moments later, he came back into the bedroom. He cast a glance at Zoe before making his way to the fitting room to get changed. Then, he said, “I need to head out. You and Yanni can go ahead and sleep.”
Carrying Yanni in her arms, she went over to the fitting room. He was in the middle of changing out of the bathrobe and into his shirt and casual pants. It might be snowing heavily out there, but he wasn’t going to dress thoughtlessly. After all, he was about to meet Eira in the middle of the night.
Then, he saw Zoe in his peripheral visions and frowned, “Why aren’t you going back to sleep?”
Lowering her head, she checked on her baby, “Yanni’s making a fuss! If you care about Eira that much, why don’t you just make her your girlfriend or marry her?”
Honestly, she couldn’t care less about it. She was fighting a losing battle against him.
and wanted nothing more than to be freed.
Underneath the crystal chandelier, he straightened up his shirt meticulously. It was the middle of the night and he was dressed smartly and sharply, casting a strong.
contrast to her miserable, unkempt look.
After a long time, he snorted, “Why don’t you try begging me to stay?”
Alas. That was the last thing she’d do.
Instead of responding to him, she merely carried Yanni back to the bedroom and
tried to put her back to sleep. She sang lullabies and looked at her baby with such
affection.
He stood there quietly and thought to himself. It only Zoe had given him a fraction
of the affection she showed to their baby, they wouldn’t have been in the situation they were in now. They could’ve been incredibly happy.
In the end, he left them to look for another lady on the dark, snowy night.
She could hear the sound of an engine being ignited.
Standing by the window quietly, she watched as the black Bentley pulled out of the
manor. All of a sudden, her heart started pounding like crazy. She quickly put Yanni
back in her crib.
Snow continued to fall heavily in the black of night.
Lying still on the bed, she could just make out the bodyguard’s chatters during their
supper. She could also hear the slightest sound of the snow thudding against the
window.
She was having trouble falling asleep and it felt as if her heart was going to leap out
of her chest. She had tried asking for help from Mason and telling him that she was
sick. However, he chose to ignore it.
Zoe had never had these sorts of outrageous thoughts in the past, but, at this
moment, she could feel them flooding over her and taking over her mind, so much
so that she couldn’t control herself!
Finally, she snapped.
Sitting up, she opened the bottle of sleeping pills and took them out one by one.
There had to be about twenty of them in her hands now. Then, she popped one pill
after another into her mouth.
After that, she lay down on the bed.
Moments before her consciousness faded, it felt as if she was back in Kirk Manor.
She was a child again. Her mother was holding her in her arms as they watched a
car pulling in through the black gate. It stopped and out came her father, calling out to her lovingly.
“Come over here, Zoe.
“How’s everything with Mia? Also, how’s Yanni holding up7
“Have you visited Noah?”
There were tears in the comer of her eyes. She started struggling violently. She didn’t want to fall into the bottomless abyss below.
Is anyone there? Please, save me!
Alas. She was all alone and couldn’t be saved!
It had been half an hour since Mason started driving when his right eyelid started twitching all crazy.
Then, fear gripped his heart.
After a moment of thought, he called the bodyguard and asked if everything was okay at home. The bodyguard swept his eyes upstairs and responded, “Don’t worry, Mr. Mason. Ms. Zoe has turned off the lights. She’s probably sleeping.”
Wearing a blank expression, he hung up the phone without a word.
Just like that, the black Land Rover drove further and further away from the manor in the snowstorm.
