Mason didn’t gier Gabriela the wrong idea or any fantasies that they’d be together. After li, he needed to end things with Zoe before he could start a new relationship.
Never mind the fact that he was only doing it just to find someone who suited him
and could take care of his baby.
He sat in the backseat on his way back to his manor, holding Vanni while he fell into
deep thought.
After some time, Luke drove the car to the manor gate when he suddenly stepped on the emergency brake, upsetting Yanni and making her cry in the process.
Mason tried to soothe her. Then, he asked him, “What’s the matter?”
Luke recognized who jumped out in front of the car. Turning around, he said to his master, “It’s Ms. Eira! It’s just the beginning of a new year and she’s already trying to
kill herself! I’m going to get out of the car and see what she wants, Mr. Mason.”
After a moment of silence, he passed his baby to Deborah and said, “I’ll take care of
her.”
Eira’s face lit up with hope when she saw him. She knew that Gabriela went to
Lockwood Manor to see him tonight. She also knew that Gabriela was probably the
next prospective wife Lisa had chosen for him.
That was what made her worried enough to come all the way to his manor. She was
going to use something of Lilith’s and make him remember the moments they
shared together. She had stood out in the snow for three straight hours and she was
freezing all over.
On the other hand, Mason was dressed elegantly, further highlighting the fact that
they were from different worlds. He treated her very coldly when they talked, as if
he had forgotten about the way he looked after her in the past. He even asked her
not to show herself at his manor again!
Then, she took out a vinyl, which still carried her warmth. She proceeded to hand it.
to him gingerly. “This is the vinyl Lilith left behind. I think it’s ‘Méditation.”

Taking the vinyl from her, he said nonchalantly, “I’ll ask Ava to issue you a check. Without another word, he turned around and strolled toward the car. Then, he heard her voice from behind him, “Are you going to marry Ms. Gabriela, Mr. Mason?”
Instead of giving her an answer, he got into the car without a word.
The black limousine pulled into the manor slowly and left Eira standing in the snow.
Tears began flowing down her cheeks, falling onto the snowy ground.
He didn’t put on the vinyl when he got back to his place. Instead, he was waiting for Yanni to fall asleep. It sure took her a long time this time around…
All of a sudden, he jolted awake.
It turned out that he had fallen asleep. He even had a dream. He saw Zoe and himself fighting in the study that night. She told him that Lilith didn’t own the vinyl and that she was the one who played ‘Méditation.’ He didn’t believe her and slapped her in
response.
At that moment, he could hear a distant rumble as fireworks shot into the sky and
exploded far away from his manor. It baffled him that it was already midnight.
It was the New Year.
He lay there motionless, listening to the distant fireworks for a long time. Then, he sprung up, headed to the study, and played the vinyl that Eira gave him..
Indeed, it was ‘Méditation.”
However, the melody and the rhythm were completely off.
If Lilith played this iteration of ‘Méditation,‘ then she definitely didn’t own the vinyl
her father gave him before.
Mason was so shaken by the revelation that he felt as though his soul left his body
for a second!
The truth had finally surfaced. As the horrible truth sank in, he felt as if his heart
was torn to pieces. He couldn’t believe that Lilith didn’t bring him back from
unconsciousness like he was led to believe all these years.
It had been Zoe all along!
She tried to tell him the truth. Not only did he not believe her, but he slapped her for it too. Now, the lady who woke him up from the long slumber was locked up in the
rehabilitation center and he was the one who sent her there!
He told her that he’d return Yanni to her once she had recovered. The truth was that
he knew she probably couldn’t make it back here in one piece!
Who was he trying to fool, Zoe or himself?
His eyes turned red in the black of night. All of a sudden, he gave himself a slap
