Chapter 324
Zoe moved into a new apartment. It was more than two thousand square feet, spacious enough for her, Mia, Yanni, and the two nannies. On top of that, it was
located in the heart of the city.
She still had yet to recover from the postpartum depression. So, Deborah and the
other nanny, Edith, would take care of the baby in the night. If she was feeling well,
she’d play with Yanni in the day.
Yanni was five months old now. She was innocent and adorable.
Mia was worried about Zoe’s health.
In response, she said lightly, “I’ll go for therapy! Don’t worry, Mia. If I can survive in
that wretched rehabilitation center, then I can survive anywhere!”
Mia was furious when she brought it up. “I think Mason’s mother deserved a much
harsher punishment! Although, I must say it’s quite fitting to send her there and let
her have a taste of her own medicine. Better yet, give her several shots of sedatives
every single day. See how she likes it!”
Rubbing Mia’s hands tenderly, she said, “It’s all over now. Also, it’s better if Ella
doesn’t know about this. You know how much of a hothead she is.”
Mia might’ve made peace with it, but she still thought her stepdaughter was
mistreated horribly.
Zoe flashed Mia a faint smile. In fact, she, too, thought she was mistreated horribly.
After all, she almost died from it! However, Mason made up for it with the terms he
set in the divorce agreement.
Half a month later, Zoe had gained considerable weight and looked healthier than
before. She had consistently gone to therapy with a psychiatrist. Cecil had
recommended him to her and the psychiatrist was very good at his job.
One day, she had just left the psychiatrist’s clinic and was about to get into her car
when she heard a familiar voice from behind her.
“Ms. Zoe! Hey, Ms. Zoe!”
She said to her chauffeur and said, “Give me a minute!”
Turning around, she saw Eira,
The young lady looked very different now. Her cheeks used to be so perky that it looked almost squeezable. So, it baffled Zoe that Eira looked so pale now. She could just imagine how miserable the young lady had been recently.
She said lightly, “You can stop pestering me now. I’ve divorced Mason! Is there anything you need?”
Eira wanted to walk closer to Zoe, but she stopped when she saw the coat she was wearing. It was obviously expensive and worth tens of thousands of dollars. She couldn’t afford to pay for it if she damaged it.
Biting her lips, she said, “I need your help to talk to Mr. Mason. He needs to show
some mercy on Lilith’s parents. They’re so miserable now. His men broke their legs and they didn’t have enough money for treatment. All they could do was beg for
money on the streets.”
The smile on Zoe’s face faded. Needless to say, she knew exactly what Eira was
thinking. The young lady was grasping at straws to get close to Mason again.
She had no interest in their little affair, but she was intrigued to see just how far
Lilith’s parents had fallen.
Eira led her two blocks away and brought her before Lilith’s parents. It was cold, but
they were kneeling on the snowy streets like beggars.
Carly was stripped of her arrogance and looked more like a lady who bowed down to
reality. She was crawling on the streets, trying to beg pedestrians for some coins
and notes.
Zoe stared at them in silence as Eira spoke to them in tears, “Ms. Zoe is here, Uncle
Eric, Aunt Carly. Hurry up and apologize to her. I think she’ll find it in her heart to
forgive you and make your life better.”

A smile crept up on Zoe’s face. What a hypocritical young lady, she thought to
herself.
Carly raised her eyes and looked at her. Then, she went down on all fours and
wailed. “I beg you, Ms. Zoe! I know you’re a better person than we are. So, please
don’t do this to us. Eric and I are more than willing to be your slaves in the afterlife.”
Sneering, Zoe responded, “You brought this on yourself. Enjoy it for the rest of your
wretched life!”
Eira was agitated by what she said. “How are you this heartless, Ms. Zoe? Try to show some compassion.”
Compassion?
She tugged at her coat in response. She still looked a little sickly, but it did nothing to diminish her grace and elegance.
Holding her forehead, she chuckled and said, “You’re one to talk about compassion! You’re the one who called a married man in the middle of the night, Eira. So, don’t talk to me about compassion. I doubt that you have a single honorable bone in your body!”
Eira’s face turned pale.
After a brief moment, she said, “There’s nothing between Mr. Mason and I. Stop accusing me when you don’t have any evidence to show for it!”
