Chapter 325
Zoe had no interest in hearing her excuses. Taking two thousand dollars out of her wallet, she flung them at Eira’s feet.
She knew the young lady needed money and that, ironically, honor was the most important thing for her. Sneering, she said, “How’s that for compassion? Pick it up if
you want them.”
Eira’s face turned paler.
She had no other choice. So, she crouched and picked up the notes one by one. She needed it to make it through winter. Otherwise, she wouldn’t even have enough to
pay the rent.
She stood up when she was done picking up the money. That was when she saw
Mason.
Dressed in a classic black and white suit, he wore a checkered coat over it, giving
him a mature, stunning look. Leaning on the car, his eyes grew darker.
Eira was both mortified and delighted. Zoe had finally shown her true colors and she was such a heartless lady. Surely, Mason would find the real Zoe unworthy of his love and turn to soothe her instead, the embarrassed underdog.
What she didn’t count on was for Mason to ignore her completely. He strolled. straight toward Zoe and tugged at her arm, but was shaken off summarily.
A look of disappointment crept up his face.
He spoke humbly, “I had just gotten work and ran into your chauffeur by chance. He told me you’re here! The divorce certificate is done. I wanted to give it to you and hang out with Yanni a little. Is it convenient for you to do this now?”
Pondering on it a little, she said, “I guess I have some time on my hands!”
A wave of joy washed over him when she agreed to it. Opening the door of his black
Bentley, he said tenderly, “This way, please!”
Keeping a distance from him, she stuffed both of her hands in the pockets of the

He couldn’t help but feel disappointed again. “Is getting a ride in my car too much.
for you now?”
She ignored him and strolled straight to her car.
Mason turned around when she got into her car. Just as he went into his black
Bentley, Eira caught up to him and said, “Mr. Mason. I’ve been…”
He shot her a cold glance and proceeded to raise his car window, leaving her to
stand in the snow with nothing but her shame to keep her company.
Half an hour later, Mason was at Zoe’s place. They went upstairs together. Naturally, Mia was stunned to see him. Then, she shot Zoe a questioning look.
Taking off her coat, she lowered her head and took off her shoes. “He’s here to give
me something and hang out with Yanni a little. Everything’s fine!”
Turning around, Mia went back to the kitchen to make some pizza, Mason called out
to her and greeted her, but she didn’t greet him back. Instead, she shut the kitchen.
door in response.
A bitter smile crept up on his face.
At that moment, Deborah came to him with Yanni in her arms.
Yanni was five months old. Her eyes were dark and glinting. She had grown plump, looking all the more adorable. The moment she saw him, she kept babbling, “Dada…
Dada…”
His eyes welled up with tears when he held her in his arms.
Yanni was his first child and they had been kept apart for two weeks. How was he not supposed to miss her? So, he spent some time playing with her.
Mia was making pizza in the kitchen while Deborah was drying the baby’s clothes.
on the balcony. The heater was turned on and all Yanni needed to keep herself warm was a full cotton onesie. This must be what happiness felt like.

Alas. Dusk came inevitably.
He saw that the sky turned dark and decided he had to leave. After all, Mia didn’t
invite him to stay for dinner and everyone else treated him with such formality, the way people do with guests, instead of treating him like family.
Zoe was talking on the phone by the window. Her coat was taken off, revealing a
light pink woolen dress. She looked so warm. Pleasant, even.
He had never seen her this relaxed.
Also, he could tell that Liam was on the other end of the phone. Zoe hung up the phone and he couldn’t stop himself from asking. “I’ve never seen you this happy before! Are you just delighted in general, or did the person on the other end of the phone make
you this happy?”
