Chapter 332
Zoe knew what was on Rowena’s mind. She smiled gently and said, “Thank you
kindly, Ms. Rowena‘ How about this? Your dinner with Mr. Mason is on the house.
Please, enjoy your meal ”
With that, she left graciously.
Rowena was still upset over it, though. It took her a while to compose herself. “How
does she know our names, Mason?”
His gaze was still locked on Zoe. After a brief moment, he said with a blank face,”
That’s my ex–wife.”
She was 100ted to the spot at what he said.
Water kept flowing out of the golden faucet in the restroom. Zoe was pressing down
on her heart gently. It was still pounding like crazy to this moment.
She might’ve prepared herself for the moment, but seeing Mason in the flesh still
turned her legs to jelly. The painful memories of the past washed over her like a
rogue wave.
After a long time, she calmed down. She was about to wash her hands when she
found herself staring into the eyes of a man in the mirror.
Then, she was stunned.
Mason was leaning on the wall, smoking. Leaning over, he closed the restroom door
and locked it. Then, he said casually, “You’re back.”
“Yeah,” she responded. Lowering her head, she washed her hands.
He stared at her in the mirror without blinking. Then, he took a deep puff and his
delicate cheeks sank, giving him a mature and manly look. Moments later, he asked
softly, “Why didn’t you say anything about coming back? Is Yanni with you?”
“She’s staying in Silvercrest.” She said casually. Then, she turned and looked at him,

“I’m done. Excuse me.
He remained still
After a moment, he lowered his head, flicked the cigarette, and pretended to ask
casually, “How are things with Farley? Are you guys together?”
He bore into her, his lean fingers, which were holding the cigarette, were trembling
subtly.
Three years had come and gone. He wasn’t sure how she was doing now. Farley was
the man who had the highest chance of winning her heart. That was why he had to
find out if they were together even if he had just seen her for the first time in a while.
It wasn’t a classy thing to do. In fact, it was immature and impulsive. He knew that,
but he just couldn’t stop himself.
Zoe shook her head in response.
He relaxed instantly and realized just how nervous he had been earlier.
Then, she smiled faintly, “What about you? Rowena seems nice. Aren’t you thirty-
three years old this year? It’s about time for you to settle down and build your own
family.” Her tone was calm and friendly.
Instead of answering her, he raised his hand and took a drag of his cigarette. Wisps
of light grey smoke lingered in the air after he breathed them out and he bore into
her again.
After a brief moment, he stood straight and said casually, “Rowena is just a business
partner. We’re just talking about a collaboration.”
With that, he opened the restroom door and left. The door closed and sent the light
on the ceiling shaking a little.
Rowena had left by the time he went back to their table.
Just as well.
Sitting alone at his table, he waited there for a couple of hours. He didn’t take out two thousand dollars to settle his bill until the restaurant was closed.
Walking out of the restaurant, he got into his black Bentley. Leaning back on his seat, he coveted his eyes. They stung.
She was back. Zoe had finally returned to Brookesville at last!
He didn’t fully grasp the fact that she was back until this very moment. They were finally in the same city. In fact, they were standing less than two feet apart from each other when they talked earlier.
She looked calm and peaceful as if their painful history was all but forgotten. It was that look that mesmerized him and made him want to get closer to her.
However, he wasn’t sure what was on her mind. She might’ve gone back to being the soft and warm lady he used to know, but he could no longer get a read on her.
