Chapter 343 

Three days later, they met again at a fundraising dinner. 

Mason was late and he took his seat quietly. He had just concluded a business dinner earlier. The moment he sat down, he started looking 

for Zoe. 

All of a sudden, he was rooted to the spot. 

Zoe sat next to a man, their shoulders touching each other. From time to time, they would lean in close to each other, seemingly discussing something. Either way, they looked really close with each other. 

He recognized the man in question. It was none other than Farley from Silvercrest. 

After that, Farley successfully purchased one of the auction items. It was a ruby necklace that was worth tens of millions of dollars. It was extravagant and gleamed with elegance. 

Farley looked exhilarated when he went on stage to take the necklace he purchased for Zoe. In fact, she was clapping while sitting at their table. 

He was in a hurry, so the organizer made an exception and let him have the necklace first. Then, he went to the balcony with Zoe. She was probably very happy about the purchase as well because she actually didn’t realize that Mason was watching. 

A cold night breeze blew past the balcony. 

Holding a glass of champagne in her hands, she flashed him a smile. “Congratulations on purchasing the necklace. I’m sure Ella will be thrilled to see it!” 

Clinking his wine glass with hers, he said with relief, “I didn’t think it’d be this smooth! It’s such a shame she didn’t show up tonight!” 

Then, he handed her the jewelry box. “I’m counting on you to give it to her! I have to take a private plane back to Silvercrest tonight. There’s an important meeting tomorrow morning.” 

Smiling, he added, “I can’t believe she wouldn’t even do me the honors. of attending the dinner tonight, even though I flew all the way here!” 

Zoe was quite aware that Farley and Ella had had a fight recently. Taking the jewelry box, she opened it and checked its contents for a brief moment. Then, she said, “I think this is more than enough to appease her!” 

Thinking about Ella brought a smile to his face. 

It was true that Farley had feelings for Zoe, but failed to win her heart in the past. However, no one knew he’d start to have feelings for Ella because of how forthright and pretty she was. 

The clincher came when she reciprocated his feelings at the 

beginning of the year. They started dating soon after. They were even talking about marriage now. 

Putting down the glass of champagne, he checked the time and said apologetically, “I really have to leave now! Please help soothe her little, Zoe. She always listens to you!” 

She smiled gently in response. 

Then, Earley patted her shoulder before leaving. “Farewell.” 

He slipped away in the dark of the night and left her alone on the balcony. 

Mason stared at her intensely from the back through the window. It was hard to read what he was thinking! 

By the time she walked out of the balcony, he was long gone. Then, she spent some time mingling around before Rosemary came over with a glass of champagne. Smiling, she said, “It’s been a long time, 

Zoe!” 

She was pleasantly surprised. “I’d say it’s been far too long since we last met, Rosemary! I didn’t keep in touch with you as much as I should have after moving to Silvercrest. I’m so sorry about that.” 

Both of them were shedding tears of joy. 

Waving her hand, Rosemary said, “Stop it! I was trying to hold my family together when those terrible things happened to you. I had always felt this deep guilt for not having helped you back then.” 

Zoe composed herself and said, “Let’s talk about something else.” 

They hadn’t seen each other for a long time. Naturally, they had a lot of catching up to do. Rosemary had divorced Terrence and gotten half of his properties from it. Now, she lived a carefree life and was in a relationship with someone who looked good and had a solid character. 

Letting out a sigh of relief, Rosemary said, “I used to be bound by my marriage with Terrence in the past. I kept thinking that preserving it was the only way I’d be able to live happily. 

“Now, however, I had let go of that thinking and tried to be with another man. Surprise, surprise. He was miles better than my ex- husband.” 

Zoe was happy that everything had gotten better for Rosemary. 

Then, Rosemary asked her about her life. “How are things between you and Mason now? I noticed he had remained alone throughout all these years. It seems he stayed clear of other ladies because there were virtually no scandals about him.” 

She responded with a faint smile. 

Now, Rosemary was a perceptive lady who had her fair share of 

experiences. Naturally, she knew that Zoe had no intention of talking about him. So, she changed the topic and talked about their careers instead.
