Putting the jewelry box on the table, Leslie lowered his head and glanced at her. He wasn’t thrilled or moved about seeing her after such a long time. Instead, there was nothing but despair in his eyes.

He cut to the chase and asked, “Are you guys a couple?”

Now, a grim coldness crept up his face as well. Snorting, he responded, “Do I have to report to you that I missed her? Who do you 

think you are, Nellie? Do you think I’d worry about you finding out? 

“Bingo. You got me. I do miss her. What are you going to do about it? I’ve been sleeping with her for so long that I harbored some feelings for her. I miss the lady whom I didn’t manage to treat right. What can you do about it?” 

She was so mad that she was quivering with rage. “You’re such a bastard, Leslie!” 

The next thing she knew, he strangled her and swung her to the couch. Loosening his tie, he sneered. “If I’m a bastard, then what does that make you? You’re the one who threw herself at a bastard, you slut! 

“We agreed to get married for the multi-billion dollar project back then. You should’ve kept your hands to yourself and enjoyed your life as my wife. No. You just had to mess Ella up. Did you do it because you thought of yourself as a more dignified lady? Do you fancy yourself better than her?” 

Nellie lay on the couch. It was humiliating and heartbreaking to hear him calling her a slut. It turned out that was all she was to him.
