I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 349

Chapter 349

It was close to nine o’clock when Zoe managed to put Yanni to sleep. She was about to hop into the shower when Ella came. She looked like a lost soul in the dark of night.

Zoe got worried and immediately led her inside. “What brought you here in the middle of the night?”

Ella felt a lump in her throat and gave herself a moment. Her eyes turned red and she murmured, “I saw Leslie earlier tonight!”

Zoe was stunned by the news.

Gripping her sleeves tightly, Ella continued, “I’m scared that Farley might leave me when he finds out about my ugly past. I did tell him about some of it. As far as he was concerned, I was in a relationship and had a miscarriage, but he didn’t know that it was with Leslie.”

The tone in her voice was enough to tell Zoe that her friend cared a lot about what Farley thought of her and her history.

Lowering her head, she wiped the tears off of Ella’s face and tried to comfort her, “Farley thought long and hard before he started pursuing you, Ella. In fact, he knew about all of it. He asked me about it as well. and I didn’t hide anything from him. He already knows about Lesl Ella.”

The next thing she knew, Ella burst into tears. However, she was mindful of waking up Yanni, so she tried to keep her voice down.

Since she was born, she had never had a lot going for her. She kept losing things or people that mattered to her. So, she learned not to expect too much out of life. Someone who could tolerate and accept her ugly past, like Farley, was completely beyond her expectations.

Leaning on Zoe’s chest, she said with a broken voice, “He might’ve been married before and had a child from it, but he had a much better life than I did!”

The O’Sullivans were a prestigious family with a long history.

Generations of its descendants had done well in Silvercrest. Farley was simply too good for someone like her!

Zoe knew how depressed her friend must be. She patted her on the back, trying to comfort her.

It was midnight, but Farley took a direct flight from Silvercrest to Brookesville. He went right to Zoe’s apartment in the dead of night.

At that moment, someone was dressed in black and sat in a black Bentley downstairs.

Lo and behold, it was Mason.

He couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night. So, he thought he’d come over and see if he could take a peek at her through the windows or something. Perhaps he’d have a lucky break and see Yanni when

dawn came.

He had definitely not expected to see Farley instead. He must’ve come here for Zoe.

Sitting in his car quietly, he gazed blankly as Farley climbed up the stairs and walked into her apartment. There was nothing he could’ve done to stop it.

After all, was no longer Zoe’s husband!

It was dark in the car, but something glinted in the corner of his eyes.

Sometimes, it was too little, too late. By the time he tried to grasp le, too late. By the time he tried to grasp someone he loved, she had slipped right through his fingers.

He didn’t even dare to think about the fact that he might’ve been

replaced a long time ago.

It was drizzling on the day of summer solstice.

Zoe carried Yanni in her arms and went downstairs. Mason was already waiting for them. He leaned on the Rolls-Royce as the rain drenched his windbreaker, but he couldn’t care less about it.

The moment he saw Zoe, he hastened over to her. He gave her the umbrella and took their little girl in his arms. Hugging Yanni seemed to have abated the anger in his chest considerably.

Yanni cupped his face and gave him some smooches.

He visibly relaxed after that.

Settling his little girl into the car seat, he opened the passenger seat door and looked at Zoe intensely. “Get in!”

Zoe did as he said.

He scanned her when they were both in the car. She wore a long dress, with her slightly permed hair cascading off her slender waist. She was exuding a seductive charm that seemed to tempt him.

Zoe started to notice him staring at her. Then, she said, “Just drive!”

Averting his gaze, he looked ahead and stepped on the gas pedal lightly. Both of them didn’t really say anything during the drive. They could hear the engine whirring as well as Yanni’s off-key singing as she recited several lullabies.

Out of nowhere, he remarked, “She’s just like me! I can’t sing if my life depended on it either!”

Then, he turned his head to the side and glanced at Zoe.
