Zoe gave herself a moment before responding, “I’m on my period!” 

“I’m aware of that,” he said, watching her closely. “Is this all there is for us? Sex? Are we doing it just so you can get pregnant again?” 

He decided he’d just put everything on the table, so they could have an honest conversation. 

eyes told Whipping her head up, she stared at him. The tears in her him just how much she was forcing herself to do it with him, but she 

had to. 

Her lips were trembling when she tugged at his sleeves with her lean fingers. 

At the next moment, he said in a husky voice, “It’s been years since, we saw each other. Has it ever occurred to you that we should get to know each other all over again? At least, I feel the need to take it slow 

before we do it.” 

He had never been like this in the past. He might’ve made a big deal. about it, but she knew he was just making up excuses for them to be spending some alone time. After all, a servant could pop into the kitchen anytime in this hour. 

So, she gave in to his wishes. The moment she loosened her grip, he swooped her up and went upstairs. He locked gazes with her the whole time. He didn’t kiss her. All he did was stare at her quietly. 

Then, they arrived at the second floor. He opened the door to her room and put her down on the bed. She wore a silk robe that was clinging to the bed now. 

Underneath the crystal chandelier, he looked at her with a sultry 

glance. There was something else in his eyes that she couldn’t quite understand as he caressed her over the robe. 

She felt so ashamed of herself that she had to close her eyes. 

He could tell that she felt pleasure, but she didn’t actually want to do this with him. 

Was it because of Farley? Would she have done it with him willingly? 

Enraged by the thought, he started getting rougher with her. However, he still cared about her and didn’t hurt her too much. 

She went into a daze from his touches, only to have him stop abruptly. 

Leaning into her neck, he breathed into her ear. His aftershave assaulted her nose as he said in a deep, husky voice, “Are you trying to have sex with me just so you can leave me after we’re through?” 

What was he talking about…? 

She didn’t even have time to think about what he said, but he already sat up. The crystal chandelier shone on his face, accentuating his stern expression. There wasn’t a trace of his earlier sultry look. 

Then, it hit her. The same thing happened at the hotel as well. 

Perhaps, she thought, he didn’t want to do it either. She felt embarrassed, but she had to act thick-skinned for Yanni’s sake. “TH give you a call when my period is over.” 

He responded deliberately, “Are we going to the hotel then?” 

To his surprise, she said rather openly, “Works for me.” 

He stared at her briefly before throwing a blanket on top of her head. ” I should just smother you!” 

He sounded angry, but she wasn’t sure where it came from. Perhaps he had abstained from sex for so long that it was screwing with his 

mind. 

With that said, she didn’t really care, All she wanted was for Yanni to shake off her condition as soon as possible. By the time she took the blanket off of her, he was already gone. 

She acted before she could think and ran to the door, where she saw 

him. 

His back was turned to her and he looked very lonely. 

She brushed through her long hair beneath the light, revealing her delicate features. She had no idea what was on his mind, but she knew one thing for sure. Being together with him was no different from playing with fire. 

Mason might’ve had a falling out with her, but he continued to shower Yanni with love and his little girl reciprocated his feelings as well. 

It had only been two days, but Yanni was already very clingy and kept calling out to him. That was why she was very reluctant when it was time to say goodbye. The same could be said for Mason too. 

Tossing the car key to Zoe, he said, ‘You’ll drive. I’m going to hold her a little.” 

She glanced at the key in her hand before turning her gaze to him. He was staring at her intensely. For the life of her, she still couldn’t figure out what was on his mind. Initially, she wanted to talk to him about it, but she thought through it and decided she had better leave it alone. 

So, she drove the car while Yanni sang the lullabies for him. The little girl’s singing was off-key, as usual, but Mason was praising her and saying that he wanted to hear more. 

She didn’t even realize she was smiling at the moment. 

However, he saw it. 

At the next moment, he said, “Thank you, Zoe!”
