Chapter 365

Instead, Eira decided to pressure Zoe. “I just can’t forget the moment you tossed the two thousand dollars on the floor all those years ago.”

Smiling faintly, Zoe said, “Why, you’re welcome.”

What she said made Eira very upset.

However, Eira composed herself the next minute. Reaching out, she played with her hair deliberately, attempting to display her sensuality and seductiveness. “Don’t you want to know my history with Mr. Mason?”

At this moment, Zoe was frustrated with her games. Stirring the coffee, she said nonchalantly, “You said so yourself. It’s history! Is tly, “You said so yourself. It’s history! Is there a need to recount old tales? With that said, I seem to recall that Mason was still married to me back then!

“Let’s just say you did do something unseemly with him, that’d make you the bad guy of the story. How do you figure you can brag about it?” Then, she continued in a bleak tone, “If I tell Mason about our conversation, you’ll lose your job instantly!”

Eira was here to debrief her work, but it had always been her dream to work in Brookesville. She didn’t believe that Zoe was capable of pulling such a stunt. After all, Zoe and Mason were divorced. They were only seeing each other because of their child. That was it.

Gritting her teeth, she said, “Mr. Mason appreciates talented staff.”

Zoe merely smiled faintly. Eira’s response was proof that she didn’t know her as well as she thought.

At that moment, Ava came over. A trace of annoyance flashed in her eves when she saw Eira.

Eira was quite scared of her. So, she greeted her, but Ava merely smiled faintly in response. She had no choice but to leave in embarrassment when she saw how cold Ava was.

Then, Ava sat down and took a cup of coffee from Zoe. She drank about half of it before saying, “She built her career in one of our branch companies. She’s here to debrief her work over there.

“From what I heard, she was trying very hard to stay in Brookesville. She even slept with several guys to make it happen. What’s the point?!” Then, she added, “I’ll take care of it! She won’t even know what hit her.”

Zoe nodded in response.

She didn’t really care about Eira, but she abhorred the idea that someone like Eira could stay in Brookesville.

Smiling faintly, Ava said, “Given his status, there are bound to be several ladies waiting for the chance to seduce him and Eira is no exception. However, I know Mr. Mason didn’t do anything with her. Don’t read too much into it.”

Half an hour later, Mason was done with his work and took Yanni to the hospital.

It was six in the evening by the time her examinations were done. He drove the car himself. They were caught in traffic on their way home. The traffic was congested with people who had just gotten off work and were trying to get back home to their families. Yanni was so tired from the examination and the car’s sluggish crawl in the traffic that she fell asleep in the backseat.

He came to a traffic light and stopped the car. Then, he adjusted the heater in the car and pretended to ask casually, “So, Ava told me that

Eira overstepped her boundaries and said something she shouldn’t have. Do you want me to fire her?”

She didn’t like that he was poking around.

He knew about Eira much earlier and yet he didn’t do anything about. her. Instead, he insisted on asking Zoe what he should do, just so he could gauge where she stood with Era.

So, she responded in a nonchalant tone as well. “She’s your

employee. Don’t drag me into it.”

Looking ahead, he chuckled to himself. Then, he dropped the topic and talked about Yanni instead. Things were looking better this time around and Zoe found that comforting.

She thought she was done with Eira right there and then.

Little did she know that Mason would follow her into the bathroom when she was getting ready to take a shower.

He closed the door with his heels and pinned her on the door. He did things to her that pushed her to the brink of falling apart, just so she’d say what he wanted to hear.

Needless to say, Zoe was having none of it!

She was nearing the point of climax, but he wouldn’t let her have the satisfaction. So, she turned her head to the side and began grinding against the door in frustration.

“You’re such a jerk, Mason!”

Reaching out, he cupped her face and stared straight into her eyes. They were less than an inch away from each other. She could smell his masculine body odor and see every pore on his skin. More importantly, she saw him gulping out of anticipation.

He responded to her softly, “Yeah, but I’m a jerk who loves you.”
