Chapter 368
Zoe hadn’t realized that Mason was standing at the door. She picked up the violin and showed Yanni how to play it properly. Needless to say, she couldn’t play it as well as she did in the past, but she still
crushed it.
She finished playing an entire song and turned around. She was about to say something to her daughter when she saw Mason. He was staring at her lustfully.
However, their daughter was right there. So, he kept a lid on his lust and sat on the couch. His face was slightly red from a couple of glasses of wine he drank earlier, making him look that much more appealing underneath the glow of the crystal chandelier.
He had sobered up slightly when Yanni climbed on top of him and/ asked for his hug. He held her up, sat her on his waist, and carried Sherry over as well. Then, Yanni started counting his abs. Each of them was solid and defined.
He lowered his head and looked at his little girl, but he spoke to Zoe in a tender tone, “What made you want to show her how to play violin?”
Running her fingers over the violin gently, she smiled faintly and said after a brief moment, “What’s done is done. I’m not going wallow in self-pity for the rest of my life! Furthermore, I found my passion elsewhere now.”
It was heartwarming for him to hear what she said. He proceeded to stare at her intensely.
He wanted Zoe for himself. It wasn’t just that. He also wanted to make her his woman. He wanted her to be his wife in every sense of the word.
This was the first time he had wanted someone so earnestly.
It was the middle of the night by the time she put their daughter to sleep and took a shower. She came out of the bathroom when she was done and saw Mason still sitting on the couch by the window. He looked lost in thought, but she had no idea what he could be thinking about.
Ignoring him, she made her way to the makeup table and started applying skincare. Moments later, she saw him in the mirror.
He took away her moisturizer, squeezed some of its contents onto his palm, and applied it to her face. His hands moved with such precision that it looked way more seductive than when she applied it
herself.
There was a faint whiff of perfume coming off of him, too.
She frowned when she smelled it. He could just guess what she was thinking now. So, he offered up an explanation. “There were some young ladies in the business discussion tonight, but I didn’t let any one of them come near me! I think I might’ve brushed past one of them.”
Zoe wore a blank expression as he spoke. It looked like she didn’t care about it.
He couldn’t stop himself from hugging her from the back and kissin the back of her ears. His voice was deep when he said, “I fired Eira She stood in my car’s path and flagged me down at the entrance. That’s all.”
Obviously, he was letting her know what happened while he was away.
Truth be told, not every businessman was willing to be this transparent to their spouses. However, there was one critical loophole that Mason overlooked.
They weren’t spouses.
“That’s your business!” With that, Zoe claimed that she wanted to sleep now, but he wouldn’t let her go.
Leaning in close to her ear, he explained everything to her. “I saw Ella
at the club earlier tonight. She was there with Farley!”
Then, he said in an even softer tone, “You clearly knew that I misunderstood you, Zoe. Why didn’t you explain everything to me?
“Are you trying to lead me down the wrong path? Are you trying to make me give up by making me think that you already have a boyfriend? Is that what you’re trying to do?”
Smiling faintly, she retorted, “You’re overthinking things, Mason! Let me go. I need to sleep.”
He wouldn’t even budge.
Holding her from the back, he locked gazes with her in the mirror and said softly, “Am I the only man you’ve ever been with? After everything, am I the only man you’ve ever had sex with?”
Zoe was a healthy lady with desires as well. Was she supposed to feel nothing when he held her and talked dirty to her?
Her body quivered slightly in response, but she still couldn’t find it in her heart to forgive him. Naturally, she rejected his advance. “I’m not in my fertile window now! Let me go!”
On the other hand, Mason was a perfectly healthy man with a strong sense of lust. He was in the prime of his adulthood.
