Chapter 369
Pressing himself against her, Mason murmured in a sultry voice, “You claimed you weren’t in the mood last night and now you’re telling me it’s not your fertile window tonight. Are you purposely leaving me with blue balls? Can I not have sex with you outside of the fertile window?”
“No!” Her answer was so absolute and allowed no room for
negotiation.
Pushing him away, she calmed down and proceeded to clarify the situation with him. “I moved back here for Yanni’s sake. I didn’t do it because I want to reconcile with you! You’re right. I don’t have a boyfriend whatsoever, but it doesn’t mean I have to be with you!”
His heart sank, but he didn’t let it show on his face. After all, he deserved this punishment.
So, he didn’t force it to happen, but they started treating each other coldly and kept a distance. Even Mia was able to see it and expressed her concern to Zoe that it might affect Yanni.
Zoe merely responded, “Mason kept it cool in front of Yanni!”
The fact was, she knew he really was trying to make it up to her and their daughter, but she couldn’t care less about it.
After that, she decided she’d spend less time working and more time with her little girl. So, she brought her to the park. There weren’t many kids there in the morning. That made it perfect for Yanni.
It wasn’t every day that she got to come out and play, so Yanni seized the opportunity and played on the slides at least ten times. She couldn’t get enough of it and going home was the last thing she wanted to do.
“You can play on the slide two more times. We’re going home after that,” Zoe said.
The sharp-witted little girl ground herself to a halt halfway through the slide and climbed up back. “This doesn’t count, Mom!” Mia laughed at her wittiness. Even Zoe couldn’t help but chuckle a little.
At that moment, she heard a voice from behind her. “Zoe!”
Her body stiffened at once.
Turning around, she looked at the figure behind her. As she had guessed, it was Lisa.
Three years had come and gone, and the old lady had toned down a lot. She seemed milder and friendlier now.
However, Zoe could never forget the kind of torture she had subjected her to. If she didn’t pull herself together and survive the abuse, then she wouldn’t be alive today.
It was plain to see that Lisa also remembered what she did because Zoe could see regret and guilt on her face.
She pleaded with her, “Can you please let me hang out with Yanni? I’m her grandmother. Mason wouldn’t let me see her. He even denounced me as his mother! It’s been so long since that incident, Zoe. Will you please forgive me?”
Zoe responded coldly, “You can ask God for forgiveness! I’m not that forgiving.”
Lisa intended to beg her once more, but Mia raced over and shoved her fiercely. “How do you have the gall to grovel to her now? You were the one who nearly killed her! Why didn’t you pause to think that she’s Yanni’s mother? She was also Mason’s wife, for Heaven’s sake!”
Covering her face in her palms, she wept and told them everything
she had gone through. “Three years! That’s how long he had ignorea me. He wouldn’t come back home the whole time. He wouldn’t even
throw a glance my way.
“He’d rather spend his New Year alone in Kirk Manor than celebrate it with me at Lockwood Manor. He has disowned me as his mother!”
Mia said snidely, “Well. Karma’s a bitch!”
With that, she carried Yanni in her arms and said to Zoe, “Let’s go
home! There’s no need to waste our time with the likes of her!”
Nodding, Zoe left the park with Mia and Yanni.
Leaning on her grandma’s shoulder, the little girl stared blankly at Lisa, who was crying into her palms, as she was carried away.
Tears streamed down Lisa’s cheeks as she kept calling out to Yanni.
She wanted to hug her granddaughter so badly!
A tall figure stood far away from her and stared at her wordlessly Then, he turned to look at Zoe, who had put a lot of distance between her and the park.
The man’s brow resembled Mason’s very much.
Lisa raised her head and was shocked by what she saw. She stuttered when she called out to him witlessly, “W-Westley!”
Then, her tone shifted when she addressed him again, this time with a forbidding edge. “Westley…”
